Greatness Truly Awaits! Confirmed brand new units w/ stock 3.55 FW from Above All Games!
Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2018Just ordered this item from Above All Games for $224.99 at time of ordering in Apr 18, which was a little more than other sellers, but seemed worth the extra $15 or so compared to other sellers after reading the positive feedback from other customers for this product from this particular seller to have peace of mind in knowing what I was getting, compared to some of the other sellers selling this model or other models with high-speed colors where it was mixed bag of what you might receive (FW 3.61 or higher, items not in new condition or some people even getting old PSP models). After doing a lot of research on this particular item and contacting seller Above All Games (who promptly responded back to my inquiry about what
FW version that their items shipped with), I pulled the trigger and ordered on Wed night and received Sat afternoon. Shipping wasn't quite the quoted 2-day shipping time frame by Amazon, but that may be due to me ordering late that night. Opened up the box of the PCH-2001 model, which was assuredly sealed on both ends to find a brand new black Sony Playstation Vita Slim Wi-fi with all items included (console, booklet, charger and cables). Powered on the console for the first time and now the moment of truth: everything powered on and did first-time set-up and check system version and it came with 3.55 FW stock! Why is this so important? Because if you want to play homebrew and other cool applications as well as back-ups of your physical games, you want to be able to have a FW less than or at 3.60 stock. This allows you to install CFW on your Playstation Vita and truly open up the possibilities of the console (emulators, homebrew games like a DOOM port and more). Now I'm running on CFW 3.65 Enso and playing all my games on a 128 GB microSD instead of lugging all my physical game carts around or paying for the pricey proprietary memory cards for the Vita. Be advised this model unfortunately doesn't ship with an included official Sony Playstation Vita memory card, which you will need if you're going to download any digital games as the meager 1 GB internal memory fills up pretty quick unless you're just using digital carts that require no patch installs (patches can be pretty big sometimes, too). If you're installing CFW 3.65 Enso or 3.60 Henkaku, you may be able to get by without the expensive Vita memory cards and buy an inexpensive SD2Vita adapter ($7-13 on Amazon) and a microSD, which have gotten relatively inexpensive for $/GB, especially on sale. The card with adapter goes into your physical game cart slot on the top and you're good to go. If you're going the official route, look for one used or pre-owned and you can find some decent deals on the Vita memory cards. Needless to say, I'm definitely pleased with the product and don't intend parting with mine anytime soon! Worth every penny to have a handheld this powerful with near PS3 graphics and such a huge library of games on the go in the palm of my hand. This product and the seller Above All Games come highly recommended! NOTE: I will update this review with photos and screenshots later.

Awesome handheld piece of machinery - don't forget a memory card!
Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2015Absolutely love this PS Vita. I have owned a PSP, 3DSXL, Gameboy and Gameboy Advance - this one is definitely a PSP on roids. Very elegant
The screen is amazing - large and clear (I did not see the original one with the OLED so cannot compare)
The button placement and sizes are perfect for a handheld, it fits well in your hands, although I would recommend the Comfort Grip accessories if you were planning on playing for a long time in one setting (my thumbs get a little sore without one)
Both the front and back touch screens are responsive and crisp
Sound is not out of this world, but definitely on par.
My only complaint about this is the Wifi - it does lose connection every so often even though it will show Full bars and 90% connectivity and I can be right next to my router. My 3DS never had this problem or any of my other wireless devices. It happens intermittently, but that's too often if you play online a lot (I do not).
OK - one other complaint - the Proprietary memory card nonsense - Sony decided to go this route like the PSP, unfortunately - there are no adapters that I have found that allow you to use regular micro SD cards in this like the PSP had (eventually).
Speaking of memory cards - don't forget one - I would suggest at least a 16GB one (about $30-35) to be safe - unless you like to download a lot and keep in on there - then go the 32GB route.
Runs my PSOne classics from the PSN flawlessly and I actually prefer to play them on this than my PS3 (actually why I bought it).
The game sizes (physical size) are perfect for portability.
The games look amazing on this screen and no need to fire up the big boy TV or shut everything down when done - just hit the power button and put in standby, pickup where you left off in an instant.
Accessories:
I would definitely recommend the Vita Vault Case if you are into protection/storage - both Best Buy and Amazon sell it for around $20, Gamestop for about $25. I think even Target carries it in certain places.
Screen protector would be a good investment too to protect that gorgeous screen
Trigger comfort grips are a plus too.
If you ever had a PSP and wanted to upgrade or are looking for a handheld that can play retro games, but also the current genre, this is the route to go.
Battery life rocks - very important nowadays.
Would definitely recommend

It's Expensive, but satisfying.
Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2017I just bought this for my birthday. I'll be honest, This is a nice looking system. Now here comes the criticism. First off you need to buy a memory card which they are hefty expensive since this doesn t come with one. After you get the card it comes time for the games. Now for all you tech savvy people out there this comes with firmware 6.65..... yep. So I got it and downloaded some titles of the the market now the problem isn't the system itself but the fact Sony doesn t really support it anymore.
Many of the vita games are old 2013 - 2015 era with very few games from 16 or 17. Mainstream Sony games aren't anywhere and many of your favorite ps games are removed randomly from the marketplace over time. Now don't get me wrong, I'll enjoy it for what it is but the marketplace needs to be stocked back up again asap which probably won't happen.
Now the handful of games that are on the marketplace are pretty decent. I bought GTA and Dragonball Z Battle which are both fantastic, but many games I was hoping for aren't anywhere to be found, psp bleach, Naruto.
For the really good points, your friends list is connected to the ps4. Your friends can see what your playing and you can see what they are up to. The party chat system is absolutely jaw dropping with the ability to flawlessly join ps4 voice party chat and talk with the vita's built in microphone. You can pop in and out at anytime to chat. Now for the games that I have it based on preference. I'm loving Gta and the ones that I bough off the marketplace. The flashsales allowed me to buy some of them for really cheap like One Piece for 5 dollars which is probably one of the most beautiful games I have seen maybe on a console in general. There are some upcoming release like Digimon coming out in late 2017 but nothing really to write home about, but we can still be hopeful. Sadly back to the final part of my review.
Now my final point is that, this thing is expensive. Your paying 200 for just the base console without the memory card. An average memory card cost 40-80 bucks... thats almost 300 bucks that you could have spent on a new ps4. Then of course the games themselves cost money. Now I'll admit, this thing was definetly over priced and hurt my soul a bit with it's online marketplace, but my hopes for the future and that I don't play consoles and not a Nintendo fan will keep me playing this for a long time.

100% Happy with my purchase!
Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2015This thing is great! It's noticeably more lighter than the original, and has a longer battery life as well. I was torn between getting the original again, or this (the slim) basically due to the fact the original is said to have a better screen. I said screw it and hopped on this one and to me it doesn't seem that much worse from the original at all. I think the only way you'd really notice a difference is if you had the two side by side to compare. And even then I don't think it would be THAT big of a difference. The screen quality is great. I've played Killzone, Uncharted, and Metal Gear HD, and all games look quite amazing on the slim.
The build quality also seems fine. I've seen some people complain saying it seems less durable than the original. I honestly think it feels absolutely fine, it's more comfortable in your hands if anything due to the fact of it being slimmer. The buttons like the Start, Select, & Home are bigger now too so it's not as difficult to press them like on the original model, which is nice. Also the grips on the back are bigger or wider so it's easier to hold the vita and not accidentally hit the rear touch pad as well.
I've seen other give the product a bad review because it doesn't come with a memory card. Let it be known that this mode DOES come with a 1gb internal card, but it's basically useless almost. There's not much you can do with 1gb besides download and delete demos. If you're gonna get a vita, spend some extra money and at LEAST get a 16gb card. If you really got some extra money and expect to be buying some games, get a 32gb, or even 64. I went with the 64gb and don't have to worry about space at all now. The people who are giving it bad reviews because of the memory card not coming with it are people who didn't do their research on the product before hand.
If you're on the fence on weither to get this or the original, I'd say get this model. It's slimmer, lighter, has a longer battery life, and it just feels more comfortable in your hands. You really can't go wrong with this bad boy.

Buy for the mediocre, Stay for the Jailbreak(at your own risk of course:)
Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2016I Bought this expecting a lot from it like the psp, games library is sub par.
Some times just completely disappointing.
Some of games on psn don't even have descriptions & or pictures to explain the games purpose.
The system it self is also disappointing , with certain features missing like battery percentage, skipping music with L& R.
Plus Sony keeps churning out useless updates not for the systems well being, But to STOP PIRACY(Oooooh)
Shouldn't they have a team for that, why not have the main goal to improve gameplay/Graphics/ & good system quality...OVER the quantity of rubbish they keep spewing out in garbage updates(So far it's more than it should be)
Sony seems to disregard it's customers like the filth they crap out every time & every update:(
At the point I've given up on Sony as good provider & started rooting for the jail-breakers I've used to be another trash mouth talking about how it took away from true Sony(I Don't Even Know Sony Anymore)
Jail breakers have a strong community(It's not about piracy)
It's about unlocking the greatness awaits that Sony Lied to us about in its commercials, Sony is sitting on what could be one the greatest break throughs in the portable industry instead of powering it up continue with cheapness and limitations of the excitement they should be providing tenfold(Not a random group of people)
Once you do the research you'll see what I stumbled onto & What I'm talking about(It's like a good youtuber community, Not the rubbish one)
About those who selflessly provide even at the cost of their lively hood for the people(That Jailbreak Community...It's pretty Nice,Very heartwarming group)
It's Odd how Sony found a criminalistic word for sharing & caring great things with good people.(Shame on You Sony)
Your local retailer don't give a crap gamers, It's a just buy mentality with them, That's why my all my local radioShacks closed down(Their plans are all out rubbish)
Update:10.9.2016.
Kinda of annoyed I can't just write a new review..but eh.
All my stuff came yesterday 10.8.2016 ahead of schedule:) There was a slight(I don't wanna say) Problem.
The Ps vitas I got uh,The description says ver2000 but I guess worldwide distributors was short a psv2000 & thought there's no difference to the 2&1 so they sent me a bulky 1000 & its Weird Usb(Not what wanted or needed) But I heard & see that the 1000 screen seems more vibrant from the 2000.
WARNING:DO NOT! MAKE A HABBIT OF THIS,GIVING CONSUMERS THE WRONG PRODUCT!
Just saying,IF I CAN'T TRUST YOU!
I WON'T BUY FROM YOU!
RESPECT ME,RESPECT YOU.

Why did I not own one before?!??
Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2015Okay, so I always thought the only handheld video game system I would ever buy would be Nintendo's (I'm a lifelong Pokemon addict). When I heard Corpse Party was releasing their new game on the Vita, I went ahead and bought one (after Google-ing to find out what a Vita even was). Let me just say, I am kicking myself for not having bought one sooner! This system is amazing, and I really don't understand how more people don't own this.
Mind you, I've only played a few games on here, and haven't explored a whole lot of the options and apps, but I am in love with this thing. The graphics look like they belong on an expensive TV, the controls are so comfortable and easy-to-use, and the battery life is pretty darn good for how high-tech this thing is. I haven't even touched my 3DS since I got this system. I love that I can play games that look like they belong on a full system while I'm out and about (it already kept me company while I was at the doctors for 5 hours the other day--and the battery never even died). I also downloaded Crunchyroll's app, and it played anime more seamlessly and beautifully than my tablet does!
The only thing that disappoints me is that because the system isn't more popular, a lot of the games aren't available as hard copies, and a lot aren't even available on the store (my friend found a way to download the games from a website, which I've yet to try, but it would just be easier if we could get them straight from the store).
Buy this system, then tell your friends how amazing it is so they buy one, and maybe one day they'll start offering more products/games for us Vita users! I showed this to my friend when I got it, and she immediately decided she's buying one!
I really can't get enough of this thing, and I'm excited to buy more and more games for it (I love it so much, I plan on buying games I already own just to have them on here!) Get the word out, everyone should own a Vita.

Finally took the plunge...and bought a Vita
Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2015I originally decided to purchase a Vita for the remote play feature with my PS4. I wanted the ability to play my PS4 games while relaxing on the couch or in bed, or multitasking while watching football on Sunday afternoons. I've spent a week with it, and so far, so good! The remote play feature works well (although, not as well as the WiiU's gamepad does it, IMO), but I have noticed some lag while playing games that require precise timing like MLB the show. But for games like Limbo, which don't require the precise timing, I've had great results.
There's also a vast library of games available for the Vita. Who knew? I wasn't planning on originally buying many games for it, but after digging around I was pleasantly surprised with the games available with lots of variety (from the Killzone's, LBP's and uncharted's to the scores of great indie games). There's also plenty of games that are cross-buy and cross-save, a feature that I'm really looking forward to using. I also own a Nintendo 3DS, and it's disappointing compared to the Vita in that it doesn't interface with my WiiU, and no cross-buy or cross-save features exist, so it's refreshing that Sony made this integration between its platforms happen.
After a week with the Vita, I really wish I'd bought one sooner. Vita is a very robust and well-built handheld. For anyone with a PS plus account & a PS3/PS4 I feel like a vita is a must own. I've missed out on dozens of free games that were previously available as free games of the month through PS plus for the Vita, but I'm looking forward to future titles.
On the downside, it's worth mentioning that for anyone looking to take full advantage of the free PS plus games, PS One classics and other downloadable stuff from the PS Store, you'll need a proprietary Vita memory card that does not come with the system, and it's not cheap. I got a 32GB card for ~$60 but some places have them listed for ~$80. Larger games take up about 3GB, but many of the smaller games are around 1GB or less.
I'll update my review as I get more experience with my vita, but to anyone on the fence, I would highly recommend buying a Vita.

A series of unfortunate events...
Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2015Out of the box, the device appears normal but there are minor issues (probably my model). As far as hardware issues, the right trigger feels a little loose compared to the left.
When it comes to software, I downloaded 2 demos and realized this only has 1gb of storage and I would need to purchase overpriced sd cards. I deleted the demos(via holding the demos and selecting delete) to make room for a few more downloads from the psn store only to be told I had 200mb free. I had to format in order to free up space...
From my experience it seems a little buggy and I'm hoping it's because I received a faulty device. I'll make a return request and maybe try the old version of the vita... I really would like to see what Sony has to offer because besides these issues, using it in my limited time felt quite smooth and responsive.

Reviewed in Canada on April 4, 2024I was unsure due to the sketchy listing title and lack of information. But I can say I did get a PS Vita Slim in Mint condition; I see some reviewers got damaged/scratched units... I guess I was lucky?

Ginny5 out of 5 starsLove the system
Reviewed in Canada on May 14, 2018Love the system. It’s too bad that most people don’t know about it and it hasn’t sold well. The Switch is still superior but for a 4-year-old device, it’s up there. If they ever make a Switch Mini, this is the perfect size. It’s got a library of great PSP games for sale on the store, plus all the good Vita games. Quite a few good PS4 games started their lives on the Vita, like Gravity Rush, Persona 4 Dancing All Night, Severed, Toukiden, etc.
If you like games from Japan, you’ll have a blast here. It’s comfortable to hold and play with on long hours. Great battery life, in the range of 5-10 hours instead of 2-5 for Switch. I have both and I would say that the Switch is the hybrid console and the Vita a true portable console, in line with the 3DS but just way better graphics and resolution.
