You Can Change Their Story

Be a Hero for Farmed Animals in 2026

Tell the Senate: Keep Save Our Bacon Act out of the Farm Bill

The Save Our Bacon Act would wipe out state laws protecting pigs and calves from extreme confinement. Tell your senators to keep it out of the Farm Bill.

Create Change Together

We are dedicated to rescuing and providing sanctuary to farmed animals while advocating for their rights. These sentient beings deserve compassion and protection. Together, we can make a positive impact on their lives. Will you join us?

Why Farmed Animals?

We advocate for farmed animals because they are some of our planet's most abused and exploited individuals. These sentient beings experience grave suffering within our food system. We strive to create a more humane and just world for them by raising awareness and promoting change.

Animal Place

💚Kindness starts with you.
🐷501(c)(3) nonprofit farmed animal sanctuary
📍Grass Valley, CA.

Sheep can remember 100-200 human faces. They remember those were are kind and those who are not. They prefer smiling faces over angry ones.

Your goal is to be the kind of person who inspires this response from a sheep.

This is Ripley. She is perfection.
We have an open full-time Animal Caregiver position at our Grass Valley sanctuary.

This position includes housing and utilities. We currently have no non-onsite openings available.

Our ideal candidate has at least a year of volunteering, interning, or working for an animal rescue, sanctuary, or facility (ideally with formerly farmed animals).

You would be joining a large team of dedicated humans working to provide the best care possible to the more than 200 rescued animals at the sanctuary.

Vegan living onsite is required (the animals we rescue are no different than animals exploited on farms).

Salary: $17/hour (please note, again, that this position includes housing and utilities)
Benefits: Health insurance (after 3-months), Veterinary stipend, Vacation/sick leave, 403(b) (Animal Place matches up to 3% after one year)
Location: Grass Valley, CA

You can learn more about the position by visiting the link in our bio.

Shelby has been with us for 11 years. On a dairy farm, she would have been sent to slaughter at 4-7* years of age.

Shelby knows her name. She knows the voices of people she likes. Shelby grew up with Magnolia and never really recovered from her death.

Shelby is independent, aloof, and she loves her ears to be cleaned.

She is her own lovely, strange moo-person.

*Yes, there are exceptions. This is the average age range.
😱 We would never!

But humane societies, SPCAs, and animal rescues of all kinds save animals and then serve meat, dairy, or eggs at their fundraising events.

This is why we created the Food for Thought program.

And why we need YOUR help.

Coco continues to heal from major surgery. She has been enjoying snack walks with caregivers.

We cannot wait to reintroduce her to her herd! We are tentatively aiming for intros next week.

This was a major surgery. Unfortunately, it was impossible to get complete margins, meaning Coco will be under close observation for signs of her cancer spreading.

So much appreciation to everyone who has donated to Coco's care. 💛
