Cleaning up LJ

I have a LOT of 'friends' on this LJ account from forever ago... and I'm pretty sure most of them aren't around.

In the interest of cleaning things up... please post a reply to this entry if you still use LJ and have any interest in remaining on my friends list.

Have a lovely evening :-)

Running is... hard

So I've been doing more running lately (thus the new LJ theme... figured it's about time I get rid of the winter theme since it's JULY).

Tangent:  I actually seriously considered choosing a bike theme, since they have one, and I've got bikes on the brain.  But then I changed my mind.

Anyway.  Running.  I did a 4.19 mile run (including some killer hills) last week with Frank.  I was surprised I made it.  Did another run Friday and made it to exactly 5.0 (probably because I ran around in circles in my neighborhood at the end and literally turned up my sidewalk at 4.99... hehe).  That wasn't non-stop though, probably about 75% run, 25% walk.  Still, I think I'm going to finally be able to get back into this.

Back in South Riding this week - there are very few hills close to Franks house so I'm going to set a goal of at least one five miler and one 5+ (see how I did that?  Technically I can run 5.01 and meet my goal!) while I'm here.

I wish running were easier.  But it's really not, especially in this horrid washington DC heat.   And the days I feel pretty good, I usually get bored and end up stopping primarily due to intolerable boredom.  Runs that end like that generally meet their untimely end as soon as my brain manages to dredge up something more exciting to do, thus convincing me to head home.  Things like... watching TV.  Petting my dog.  Playing on the computer.  Cleaning the house.  Cooking dinner.  Seriously... it doesn't take much.  Hehe.

I suppose that's enough for my first public LJ entries in awhile.  Peace out kiddies.

I want a bike

It's been about a week (I think) since the idea was planted in my head.  Said idea has taken root and is rapidly multiplying.

Day 5 of Thyroid Withdrawal

So I'm on Day 5 of my Thyroid Withdrawal treatment... so far not as bad as anticipated.  Yesterday was the first day that I really started feeling noticably slow and I slept a few times during the day (the first three days I just felt tired but couldn't actually sleep).  I'm trying to stay off the phone because I'm getting cranky pretty easily (don't wanna take things out on customer service folks) but I'm feeling suprisingly focused - focused enough to attempt an LJ entry at least.

This could be the wrong decision but I'm feeling like making a few more of my entries public, mostly to share little things like with Charley, so to switch gears quickly: Frank bought a new Snoozer Bed for Charley... and it's awesome.

Of course the weird part is that Charley doesn't always seem to want to burrow inside the bed... sometimes he just sits on top.  The bed is really soft and squishy, so I can't really blame him, but it's kinda weird nonetheless.  And of course, Ginger (yes, Golden Retriever Ginger) has had her go at trying to be in Charley's bed already.  She obviously can't fit inside.... so she lays on top and rests her head on the wire arch that holds the bed open.  Frank said he got a picture, I'll post it later if I remember.

Also have some other pictures and even a video to share.  First is a picture of Gracie and Charley from November (I think).  I love it when they subconciously synchronize their motions... and they get caught on camera... lol.

And the last thing I'm going to post is a short video of the doggies playing.... I think I'll need to do it in a separate post from Flickr, so be right back!

test post

I want to start blogging again

The question is... can I actually do it?

Having a weird day (no sleep last night).  Came in to work and got more done than I expected, but I think I need to go home.  So I'm going to post this and head out.

Ah sleep

It feels like it's been weeks (or maybe months) since I was able to sleep when I want and wake up when I want...

Got back from Oktoberfest, slept, and now I'm going back to bed since I'm still tired. No teaching tomorrow, so I'm not even worried about setting an alarm. Hooray!!!

Btw, saw BITH at the Birchmere last night with J... Awesomeness. On so many levels.

Good Mood

I'm in a good mood and just wanted to post about it, especially since yesterday I was NOT in a good mood for most of the day.  Having a productive day at work and actually have a few minutes to breathe and take a break from the insanity.  Still tons to do, but I like it when I'm busy but have the freedom to manage my own time a bit and not be stressing about deadline this, meeting that, last minute request here, change in direction there.

Haven't been doing all that well in the last week with my diet and exercise routines, but I think I'm getting back in the saddle on exercise at least... we'll see about food intake.  The better mood should help that.  Woo doggie.

I have nothing else to say right now.
