Those who know me know that Brian Freeman is one of my favorite authors. He's got a new audiobook out on Audible with this title (The Deep, Deep Snow) and it's well worth a listen. It's read by January LaVoy and it was done very well. Here is the description from Audible (better than I could do!):

I keep forgetting this blog is here for a reason and I feel bad about that. I'm working in our local library and it's hard not to check out EVERYTHING! I was working on _Night Tiger_ and loving it, but I had another one out at the same time and had to finish it first and the due date approached before I was done. I would have gladly renewed it, but it was on reserve for another patron, so I wasn't allowed to. It hasn't come back yet, so I'm working on being patient. In the meantime, the library's book club selection is _The Lost Girls_ by Heather Young. Have you read it? I haven't yet, but I will. I have about four different book groups I work on, and as you can imagine, I'm behind. I'm also working on a few titles from Audible. One of my favorite series of all time is _The Chronicles of Amber_ by Roger Zelazny. I'm saving those for when we go on vacation so I can get my husband addicted to it, too.

If you've been around for a while, you know how much I LOVED Uprooted by this same author. I loved it so much, I bought copies for friends so I could have someone to discuss it with and share my joy in the story. 

Now she's got another one coming out: Spinning Silver, based on the fable of Rumplestiltskin. Now I ask you, who wouldn't love a retelling of that one by a talented author? Netgalley was nice enough to let me read Uprooted all that time ago, and I'm hoping they'll do that again. I don't know if I can do a review that would do it justice, but I'd sure give it a good try.

Spinning Silver releases in July. I'll have my nickels all ready for that one!

Did you like The Lake House? The Clockmaker's Daughter is coming in October and it's on my "must be read" list. Kate Morton tells a good story and this one sounds like it'll be just as great as The Lake House was.

I took my kindle to work with me yesterday and actually got to do some reading! I didn't want to stop once I began A Conjuring of Light. Kell and Lila always hold my interest well and now that Holland is in some trouble, who can stop? (not the place, Holland, but the character, Holland) Kell is in trouble, too. Is he going to be able to save the prince? I don't know!

We're going to go see Avengers: Infinity War. I can hardly wait! I love how many of the Marvel characters they have in one movie. This is likely one I'm going to have to buy when it comes out. I love revisiting favorites.

Only 1.2 miles to go before I finish my Woodstock race through yes.fit. Then I'll get my reward, a beautiful peace symbol. I love the updates on it that I get through email, showing me where I am in the race. Beautiful countryside that brings back memories of my youth.

I have been wanting to finish this trilogy for a long time now. From the very first _Shades of Magic_ book, I was hooked. I got that first one as a paperback. I forget where it was recommended. I think I saw someone reading it on goodreads and decided to try it. I shared the book when I was finished and couldn't wait. I got the next one on my kindle, and so too, the third one as well. I've waited until tax season was over for this guilty pleasure. Kell is one of my favorite characters and Lila is nothing short of amazing. I'm a character driven reader and I love reading and sharing what I read (as well as selling them). This series is one of my favorites to share with customers and clients. 

One of my goals is to reread/read the entire Wheel of Time series but I don't know if I should read them one after another or read other books in between. If I combine it with my goal of rereading/reading the Malazan Books of the Fallen, I could conceive of finishing both goals sooner then I would think. The sad part is leaving all of those other books that scream to be read to the side. So, I don't think that'll happen. Right now I read a physical book, a short story, and then a kindle book. Then a short story and a physical book again. It's a wonderful circle.

It's here! I binge watched the first season, wanting to see what all of the excitement was about, and now I know! Margaret Atwood is a woman ahead of her time, I think. When this book first came out, it was like reading science fiction. That couldn't ever REALLY happen, could it? Now, all these years later, it feels like it could. I could imagine the religious right doing something like that if the circumstances were right. Men and women could become sterile because of a virus or because of the drugs that so many doctors over prescribe. Too many antibiotics create a resistance to them. What if the same could happen because of birth control drugs? Would the ones in charge decide that we needed worker humans? Would they round up women able to conceive? It wouldn't be the first time that people were used as slaves in this country. Those in charge seem way too able to justify their actions. The show addresses women's rights in a clever way. Not all men are monsters, but there are enough of them to make us frown and cheer on the resistance. I'll try not to binge through this season of Handmaid's Tale, but it won't be easy.

Good intentions gone awry. I should decide to review more than books I think. Working more than one job takes away from my reading time, but life is like that. Did I tell you I'm also an enrolled agent? Tax season has finished and I'm catching up on everything (including housecleaning). I subscribed to Hulu as a gift to myself for finishing tax season without pulling my hair out. I LOVE it! I've finally gotten to begin watching _The Handmaid's Tale_ and I can see why it's won awards. I love the book, and now it's amazing to see it brought to life. It's been a few years since I read it and I can see I would love to revisit it. Another series I'm looking forward to seeing on Hulu is _Castle Rock_. Stephen King is one of my favorite authors and seeing a place brought to life that I've read about so often will be extraordinary. 

One of my personal goals is to read for at least an hour every day. There are days when I don't get to do that and so I make up for it as often as possible. Do you set goals for yourself? Do they involve books or movies or music? Speaking of movies, I'm REALLY excited for _Avengers: Infinity War_ to begin!
