It's Official!!
It's official! Steve and I are going to Mexico to pick Colten up! We fly out on June 14th, and will be home on June 19th! Colten's Homecoming will be June 24th! Anyone that wants to come you are more than welcome to come! Yay!!! 5 more weeks until he is back in the states!!!

ok right now theres only on bad thing about this time the president is only
giving us 40 minutes to talk to you gys and so i was thinking really is i just
talk to you and dad and thats it if y¡there is time and peope want to give me a
quick hey that would be ok but i only have 40 minutes to talk you guys will call
sunday at 5 i will be waiting for you guys. ok short emailing because i am
trying to get all my information taken care to end the mission. idk why they do
that i dont like flling out paperwork to finish but i gotta get it done.....
just a little advise please talk with office and make sure everything is taken
care of and get everything called in asap so that its not expensive. the days
that you guys want to stay is fine i down with 5 days really i only have like 3
areas. because my first area i dont remeber to much i have 3 converts there and
maybe we could look for them to go take a picture but i remeber i was always way
lost out there but theres bosque tapachula and tonala we can go to tapachula for
2 day and then tonala 2 days and then one day go to tuxtla to go around a little
bit and end with a temple session or we can start with the temple session just
whatever you guys want to do. if you want to stay in a hotel thats fine i was
just thinking it would be easier to stay in somebodys house ok really only in
tapachula would be in a members house sister champo she has the upstairs
prepared for visiters so its basically a hotel but whatever yall want to do
thats fine i think we will figure all that out when you get here but for now get
all the papers in and all the info to the president so everything is set ready
to go.
this was good week i want to talk to you al about someting that i learned in tapachula. its called the mission of the church i dont know is theres to many people who know what that is or what is the mission of church. the scripture says that the work of the lord is to bring to pass the immortality of man. ok that would be the result of the mission of the church. what i learned is that the mission of the church is to invite others to come unto christ by helping them recieve the retored gospel through 1 faith in jesus christ and his atonement. 2 repentence 3 baptism 4 recieving the ordinance of the conformation of the gift of the holy ghost, 5 going to the temple to do the work for the dead and always going to the temple not just one time but until they die. that is what i learned one time and i have been focusing on hw i could be better in doing that. i always try to remeber that the reason i am out here is not because i want to baptise or make people feel good, but i want to help people recieve the blñessing that i am working for. we as members of the church have a great resposability to help that happen. the missionaries are only fultime teachers. we as members are the finders of the investigators. and the missionaries should each them and we hep them walk alond and grab the lords hand and then they are baptised and confirmed and then they have to strat preparing to go to the temple to lock that testimony down with chains so that they will never leave it. what i have been seeing here in my mission is when a ward cant or is not progressing its because they have forgotten that part that we are not just meber of the church only on sunday but we are members every day and at ever time ever moment that we have to work we have to help them out( our brothers and sisters) ok thats all i wanted to share with you all today i love you all and i will talk to guys on sunday at 5 our time i dont know if its the same our but you could figure that out so we can talk . love you guys!!!!!

Hey everyone
So sorry for not getting emails to you. Just been to crazy! Half the time
Im writing or reading his emails on my phone and I dont have everyones emails on
my phone! This email was about his birthday. He wasnt able to get me an email
that day so I got it a week later. He didnt get transferred like he thought and
gets to finish out his mission with one of his favorite companions, and in
Tonala! Which is what he was hoping for but didnt think it would happen. So
whoo hoo for Elder Houston!!!!

ok so i am going to start this time about my birthday haha your welcome for the advise. dundunudnununununun my birthday!!!!!!!
it was one of the best weekends of my life. and the reason why is because we traveled to tuxtla on friday and then we slepted in a room in a bishops house who is just soooo rich and the room had air conditioning. thats the first time in a long time that i have had the oportunity to sleep without the jet turbine in my face hahha( aka fan on level 3 aka airplain turbine engine) it was a wonderful night the only thing that i wanted more was pizza and a hot water shower hahahah i would prepare your selves we only shower with cold water here ahahaha. and i would have been set 100 percent but i cant complain to recieve a blessing that we recieved you gotta sacrafice a little bit. ok soo saturday morning we got up extra early because we had a conference with someone really awesome........ are you ready.......... set ..... whooooooooooooo ELDER BEDNAR CAME TO TEACH US!!!!!!!!!!!! ah man en serio it was sweet. in my mission i have had the oportunity to be able to listen to 6 apostols and well to be honest in the mtc a few 70s came but i didnt really know how awesome it was until i am in this time of my mission theres lots of people that have never had the oportunity to listen but anyways in the mtc elder oaks talked to us then in utah elder robbins from the 70 talked to us and then when i got here in tuxtle elder benjamin de hoyos from the 70 talked to us and then a little after elder cook came and talked to us and then not very long ago we had elder tenorio from the 70 who talked to us and now elder bednar!!!!!!!! oh man it was sweeet . and it wasnt like he came to just give a talk no he talked to us and with us for 3 hours. he would ask questions and then we would answer us and then more questions and teaching at the same time it was sweet. im am honestly really greatful to be able to serve and that i have had such an awesome experience being a misionary. there is nothing better then serving a mission i am completely convinced that it is way better then anything. even though i really miss mrashmellow matys and apple jacks and lucky charms. i miss real milk haha and a few other thing but like i said everybody has to suffer a little bit hahaha. ok so that was my birthday.
ok so about transfers you guys will never guess ok so in the mission when a missionary has a part in the lidership his last transfer he is taken out of the leadership at least in our mission and so i was completely convinced that we were gong to be transfered. buuuuuut the lord still needs me here in tonala to help them be strengthened and we have been on a pretty big slope to be honest but i am pretty sure that we are getting out of that or simply the lord has shown us mercy because we had 7 investigators in church on sunday and we havent had people in church for a while now and they came. a few that live close and a few that live like way far but they came and i am completely grateful for my heavenly father. i pray that i can have the courage to serve all my life and that i will have the physical strength to fight in this world and lift other and have the spiritual strength to be able to fight against satan and his angels. every one has demonds that kinda just follow them around but something that have recently learned or as i should say yesterday..... the truth will make you free...... we cannot let ourselves be subjected to sin or bad habits. something tht elder bednar taught us is to be our own agents with agency not object that people can just move around or something can influence us how it pleases. WE WRITE OUR OWN STORY we are free because we have the truth. the true gospel of jesus christ and no one can take it from us because it will always exist we can only just try to hide from it.- but we are never lost for our father in heaven he is always watching of us and is always wanting to send down his blessing. keep your eyes up life is suppose to be happy thats the reason its called the plan of happiness. haha. ok family i sure do love you. in about a week and a half we will be talking on the phone hahaha ganna be weird i havent been practicing english only spanish hahaha but we should be ok dont worry.
ok so if i am not mistaken i am pretty sure all my aunts and uncles and grandmas get my emails. theres lots of you who i dont have your email so i have to just send you a message like this. aunt kim and unle john mom dad boys and everyone who sent me a little birthday present thank you so much i really appreciate it i am so lucky to have family who really do love me and its not for the present that i know you love me its just because i know you guys remebered me and i am possitive that you have prayed for me and have given me your support this goes to everyone to be honest but thanks you so much for everything. there are so many broken families here in the world and i have seen so many here in mexico aand have had the oportunity to be able influence there lives and i just think sometimes at night for only a few minutes that i am so lucky because i have a whole family and its huge and we are all united so i just wanted to thanks you guys personally and tell you and express my love for everyone. thanks!!!!!!!!!
ok i gotta go because i need to write our president but just know i am safe happy and just killing it out here in the mission feild there isnt enything more sacred that i could be using my life for and i am trying every day to sanctify myself and to purify my soul so that my father in heaven can use me as an instrument in how he pleases and i can subject myself unto his will. to be honest this time i have here to serve is really sacred for me and every day i learn and every day is better then the last and everyday i see the lords hand working and helping. i know he is there and i know he is listening and i know he is working. use him and follow the example of jesus christ and purify your garments with his precious blood and have experiences in the missionary work that are recent and that you can get up and share your testimony ofter and always remeber...... the TRUTH WILL MAKE YOU FREE.

its been a week of miracles to be honest with everything that i have just read
and with the emails i have recieved.brought tears to my eyes and i am sitting in
the middle of a room with computers hompe people dont laff at the griengo thats
about to cry.one week down and another to go. its going to be great. sorry about
the lpane tickets thats the way they told we the things were going to happen.
haha to be honest its because i am pretty sure they had no idea either because
when i talked to elder ballard that day and he told me he got your messgae he
said. yea i havent writen them back because i dont know what to do haha but i am
going to call salt lake. but i am glad that you got your pass ports its going to
be great.
ok so we had no baptisms and we had no one in church that was rough. we had a beautiful lighting storm though with no rain. sure do love those its like a firework show but more real and it always goes until the clouds go away. we found lots of new investigatores this week. but they started hiding from us idk why people get so afraid hahha the problem here is they dont know how to say know hahaha they always say yes even though deep down they dont want to and the moment they are saying yes they are planning ok the day they come i am going to leave haha so that they cant find me and hope they dont come back. but its ok its just a little bit more easy to fnd the chosen people that the lord has prepared for us to find. tomorrow is my comps birthday and he doesnt want to do anything good for him that what i like to hear but he is also coming up on his year in the mission thats cool i guess but it makes me remeber how mad i was when i finished a year because my comp didnt let me burn clothes hahaha but oh well maybe we will do something fun when that day comes. also we are going to eat pizza today i am stoked to be honest. i love pizza its the best. i am sorry about your chickens. you should just ways till you come here to buy them they are so cheap hahaha there like 5 for a dollor something luike that but i am pretty sure we cant take them on the plane so i guess that would be useless. i love chickes and ducks. i have decided that when i get home i am going to be a swan those are awesome there like gaurd dogs but way better and way pretty i hope i get a white one haha.

ok so wednesday we go to cabeza de toro to visit and teach people. but this time we went to the beach to eat and then we headed to to cacho that means cabeza de toro. and we got there and we went to prepare luis for his interview.... and well it turns out that he didnt understand what it means to be married legally he is only married in the catholic church.and he didnt know that doesnt count and his wife was married to another man at one point and they never got divorsed so now they cant get married until she gets divorces and if they get divorced the other guy goes to jail because he hasnt paid anything for the girl that they had and luis doesntwant that but he says he is going to do everything that he needs to do to get divorsed the problem is he still cant wprk and besides work there is no money. i am so happy i am american. or at least live in the united states haha.but he is going to fight for right now he cant be baptised. but we are going to keep pumping him up. but in the lesson with his my wallet started bugging the crap out of me haha my butt was hurting so i put my wallet in my bag so i wouldnt lose it haha imagine that.. so we get going doing the normal thing we do and it was time to get going so we took off got in a taxi to take us to tonala. and we finish the day like we usually do. the next day started off great and we were getting ready to get going and i start going over my check list of my things that are necesary to preach the gospel. sciptures, book of mormon, agenda. black pen red pen, hankercheif name tag cards phone and wallet.... mmm wallet i dont have my wallet wher is my wallet i check my other pants not there i take everything out of my bag not there i destroy my desk looking fr my wallet and i cant find it. i start to panic.... in my wallet i had my bank card from the mission and my debit card i had my visa in there with 550 pesos its like 55 bucks.. jesus picture cdl license and i think thats it oh yea the most important my eagle scout card.... what would i do without my eagle scaout card lets see i wouldnt be able to do cpr. i would be able to carry my handy dandy pocket knife and do other things that we all know that only eagles can do including flying. so i start to panic and were like dude we gotta go find the taxis. they all know us and at one point we have taught them something or other missionaries and i have 6 months here so everyoone knows me hahah so we get there and i start asking my bros and they start panicing looking in there cars and checking and thinking who they have taken around to go ask them and were way worried for me haha. but there was nothing. so we start calling everyone that we visited that day and no one. so i just got way worried becauss without that stufff i will be all alone with my lonesome self hahah and no money because i ran out of my monthley balance hahaha but i start praying like a ad man. we finish the day and i kneel down to pray to ask my heavenly father to help me find my cards and my visa that i dint want anything bad to happen. so i started searching again and again and northing so in the night time i prayed again and said heavenly father it looks that i have lost my wallet with my information inside.if its your will that i can find it well so be it and if its your will that i dont find it well so be it just help me learn from this experience so that i can do better. if its your will that i find it please help my wallet fall into the hands of someone who can give it to me. and i went to bed. thurday nothing and well friday nothing at night i called and canceled my card with the mission and told elder ballard to contact you guys. and he said ok. at night we got home and we started planning and i had accepted that i have lost my wallet and my eagle scout card and well oh well and so we started planning i sent a messgae to a guy we were going to teach a person that works in the taxis and when the text entered i got a call from some chick and siad. hey who is talking i said well i am elder houston how can i help you and she is like hey i have you wallet i am in cacho i am a chritian and i want to give you your wallet when are you coming. haha i started studdering and just really confused to be honest i didnt even believe it was true hahaa but it was and we went saturday in the morning to find her and she was talking to us and told us that her dad found it in the taxi and talked to the guy that drives and he gave him our number and then contacted us and everything. long story short i got my wallet and i didnt lose a single thing.....not one i have everything. even the money. i am serious. it was something so amazing. i mean maybe its mean to say but i am mexico man and they called me to return my wallet i dont thing that just happens. i am so greatful for heavenly father that he helped me get my eagle scout card back seriously i would be dead. i know he is listening and with the stories that your guys shared with me its just another confermation that its true. dont be men of little faith the lord wants to see our efforts and he wants to see that we can try our hardest and then try a little harder so that he can just open the windows of heaven to bless us and pour down his blessing. and with all that that had happened and all the people that was hiding from us we foound a family of 3 and they look awesome to be honest i am so greatful its really hard to explain but dont thing heavenly father isnt listening because he is just fulfil with what he qwants you all to do and you will see the windos open up and see his holy hand come down and help eveything work out. trust in him. and he will ive you a reason to trust him love you all i hope you have a great week!!!!!!!!!!!!! pay your tithing!!! and its only the last conference !!!!

ok so we had tranfers and.......... welp i am staying in tonalá!!!!!! so stoked i am serious i did not want to get changed but it will be my last transfer as a leader because the last one they always take you out of leadership so i will have another are thats crazy. way excited to i am staying with elder gamez. we are pumped.
ok sorry the message last week was short and all i really said was dont talk to me about home so i hope it didnt sound mean i wasnt looking to make you feel guilty it was something that was on my mind and i just really want to stay focused and its no that you guys talk about home that much its just that i dont want to hear about finishing the mission because i am terrified thats all and also to help me stay focused a hundred percent. i have 3 months left and i have 3 months of hard work to be honest we have had some really hard trials so the last thing i want to think about is home. thats all haha i love you guys and i do want to come home but at the same time i dont because the mission is the best thing i have ever dreamed about doing. and now that its winding down i gotta take advantage if the opportunity i have to learn the most i can from my father in heaven so i can come home strng and serve in the church wherever the lord calls me to serve. but those are the reasons ok so dont feel bad.
ok so last saturday was rediculous. on wednesday we had a conference and out president made us a promise that we were going to have more trials and harder ones too and well is promise has been fulfilling everyday. but especially saturday. we had an investigator that well yuo can see in the picture his name is joaquin hes a strange guy to be honest but he is like mega shy and does not like to do things and he has been strugling with the whole baptism thing because ad idk why he hadnt been baptised in 2 weeks because he was scared and i didnt really understand. but on friday he had a interview and finishing the interview the elders took off because it was way late so we asked joaquin if he was going to be baptised and he said idk ask the elder that talked to me.. so we sprinted afte him. elder tingey told me. he can be baptised whenever he wants i signed the paper the problem is he doesnt want to be baptised. so we decided in the mornig we were going to go to his house to encourage him to be baptised at 7 and we stood out in the sun for like an hour just waiting for this kid to tell us ok at seven but he decided... no come back at 3 and i will tell you yes or no so we left and went to the church to fill up the baptismal font because we wanted to be ready because he was going to be baptised at least thats what i kept repeatig in my head to stay pacient and happy haha so as we are walking to the church some guy that sells tortilla says e is looking for our members to give them there tortillas so i call them and help him out then we get to the church and we realize that we dont have keys to close the empty valve.... that was terrible but we said ok we can just put our own plug so that we can fill it until we get keys to close the valve. so then we go to turn the water on and the door where the knobs are is locked..... o my goodness so mad that door has never been locked in any church i have been in and here in tonala it has never been locked. so were like crap what do we do i go to call the leaders and talking to one he is in charge of everything he and all the people with keys are in the activity that i just helped have the tortillas and as i am talking i run out of minutes!!!! so were like lets go eat and we will deal with this mess. we went to eat got keys to the valve from the other elders and we come back but the dont have keys to the door!!! so were like ok lets fill it up with a hose... the hoses dont have ends on them to connect them with the spiket so i was just like crap now lets think. theres always a way you just gotta think and i saw a rubber glove haha thats the other picture i sent. good think i had my handy dandy pocket knife!!!!!!!!!!!! loove that thing. i cut off the middle finger of the glove and them cut some strings off the mops haha and tied it all up!!!! yup your sons still got it i rigged up ready to go.... so it was time to go to joaquin. we said a prayer to heavenly father telling him that we have everything set up and we have worked to have the baptism and we needed his help to finish it. so we left and headed to joaquins house... right before we get there we get a text saying come by at 7 to get me but we were close to his house so we decided to go anyways.... we got there and hes like yea i want to be baptised. we got way excited he took like half an hour to pick who he wanted to baptise him.... then we wen to the church and told everyone we could to go and at night we went to his house and got hhim got to the church and there are no memebers... no members means no baptism!!!!!!!!!! but at the end a few showed up and w baptised him but it was a mess but it shows that the profesies of the president are just fulfilling hahaha this saterday the same thing happened but the guy didnt get baptised this satuerday for sure!!!!!!!!!!
its been fun here in tonala i love it. every investigator we have when we show up satan attacks haaha but we will keep fighting. elder gamez is going to be 25 on the 28th of march and i am going to be 21 in april!!!! i can gambel and byu beer... nice.... well i will never be able to use those privledges haha but its ok its better not to.... oh yeah we found some ladys from san cristobal they speak tsotsil the dialect were going to start teaching them!!!!!!!! its going to be way fun.
ok well i know that heavenly father is listeneing to our prayers trust in him and he will help its been a real eye opener these few days. and i know that and if you dont know that i invite you to try it out ad you will see that its true. our father loves us and wants us to be happy it desnt matter what has gone through life or what we have done he loves us and is always ready to listen to our prayers. remeber that and look for oportunities to serve so that the father can trust yuo to!!!.i jut realized i dont remamber if i sent a happy birthday to stevie or not but i am so sorry if i didnt i love you buddy FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS NOS VEMOS PRONTO ESPERO QUE ESTE FELIZ!!!!!!!

ok so we had tranfers and.......... welp i am staying in tonalá!!!!!! so stoked i am serious i did not want to get changed but it will be my last transfer as a leader because the last one they always take you out of leadership so i will have another are thats crazy. way excited to i am staying with elder gamez. we are pumped.
ok sorry the message last week was short and all i really said was dont talk to me about home so i hope it didnt sound mean i wasnt looking to make you feel guilty it was something that was on my mind and i just really want to stay focused and its no that you guys talk about home that much its just that i dont want to hear about finishing the mission because i am terrified thats all and also to help me stay focused a hundred percent. i have 3 months left and i have 3 months of hard work to be honest we have had some really hard trials so the last thing i want to think about is home. thats all haha i love you guys and i do want to come home but at the same time i dont because the mission is the best thing i have ever dreamed about doing. and now that its winding down i gotta take advantage if the opportunity i have to learn the most i can from my father in heaven so i can come home strng and serve in the church wherever the lord calls me to serve. but those are the reasons ok so dont feel bad.

ok sooooooo all of our investigatores are sick. why!!!! all of them haha
1 luis well he got super worse he was the one that got jmped and was about to lose his legs he wanted to come to church but the doc told him know so he was sad but he is reading and praying. ayayayaya but i now that he will be baptised as soon as he can
gerardo. he is way awesome. super funny he has like 3 years listening to the missionaries and wants to get baptised and then BOOM!!!!! he passes out!!! he has high blood preasure and coleschural idk how to spell it but he then almost died it was the 2nd time happening and they ay that the 3rd time usually they dont come back.he has to get a brain scan and figure out what is wrong but it cost 3000 pesos and he doesnt have anything but they are looking to see if they will lend him a hand so fa looks good. but keep these 2 guys in your prayers
pedro enrique! he i a goofy guy even though he doesnt want to be but he called us at 624 in the morning to tell us he wanted to go to church. i was mad at first because i still had 6 minutes to sleep but then when he said he wanted to go to church i was happy because we havent seen him all week. and now he is legible to be baptised because it was his 2nd time woohooo!!! the only problem is he cant walk someone has to go pick him up and well it cant be us so we are trying to find someone to go by his house every week for the rest of there life!! haha.
this week was interesting i have a story that is way weird that hppened sunday morning like at 4 or 5 who knows. i dont even remember. so elder gamez when he got here i told him all about when i thought the ghosts had come to get me.and he was like elder houston dont even worry i dont even believe in that because its not real so i said. elder i hope your right bu listen carefully ok its not that if you believe or not the fact is that its real so i hope that nothing happens because i dont like it haaha and well we have been fine. nothing has happened... until now... hahah so i guess we were sleeping and well in the middle of the nigght what i do remeber is that i moved positions putting my head where my feet were because i was hot and the fan was hitting my feet. but its vivid that memory. but elder gamez said that in the middl of the night he hears me say in a loud voice really mean like saying... ¡¡¡¡DONT BUG ME ANYMORE LEAVE ME IN PEACE I WANT TO SLEEP!!!!(translated from spanish since i talk dream and think in spanish) and he wakes up to that and sees that i am backwards then from when he saw me before he fell asleep and he said when he wok up and i said that he felt someone sit up from his bed like there were there with him because i yelled at them so he jumped under his covers and he said he felt someone like touching him hahaha and was ho´ping that i would wake up but i didnt. and so e passed the whole night hiding under his covers.. and in the morning he tell me the story and says well i wasnt scared but ya. and i said its ok elder nothing happened you should have woken me up haha he said i thought about it but i decided not to talk. then at night he said something funny. we were about to pray and e says hey what do you say we bless the house at the same time. so i asked if he was scared and he says no i am not scared and kinda dropped his head haha so i said ok its ok we can bless the house before we go t bed and he says its ok it just the well...... its real haha. i started to laugh but its true i was really happy that i didnt wake up because i dont want to see a ghost.
its been a fun time here in tonala i really like it. w are lifting up the ward we are almost with 80 people coming to church wich is awesome when i got here it was like 60. we are activating pople and getting ready for more baptisms. i am excited for another week of success we are turning the branch around.sicky sick!!!! ok well really thats all i got on my mid today i love you guys a lot and i will talk to you guys next week!!!!!!!
