Hello! It’s so nice to meet you.
I’m Lisa Spangler, an artist/illustrator who travels full time in a camper van across the United States, documenting my observations along the way with watercolor, gouache, pen, and ink.
A self-confessed plant nerd, I’ve created botanical illustrations for Wildflower Magazine and designed art products for multiple companies. I’m honored to have served as an artist-in-residence at Valles Caldera National Preserve, Capulin Volcano National Monument, Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, Allegheny National Forest, and Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, where I created artwork to promote these incredible public lands.
I’ve found that sketching or painting a scene forges a deeper connection with a place in a way that snapping a photo just can’t beat. As a former software engineer, I truly believe if I can learn to draw and paint anyone can!

Join in the fun and learn from 30 teachers — including me! — journalers, artists, authors, and thought leaders in nature, nature journaling, visual thinking, and conservation.
