Yes, the miners were ALL anyone talked about! What a miracle! 33 men trapped more than 2,000 feet under ground and ALL of them lived. How amazing!
Wow, how lucky Mo and Hay! You got to see Elder Bednar! How was it?
So, I don't have an assigned topic for my talk right? I kind of have what I want to talk about. :)
I loved your forehead story. HA ha! I hate Jr. High!
Last night we did the Joseph Smith Program for the last time. It went really well. This choir was AMAZING! I love them so much! There was no Choirdrama like before. :) They are just a bunch of goofballs! I love them so much! THey are soooooooo sweet.
It was really special this time because When Elder Hamilton (He's serving here with his wife. They are amazing.) When he announced the whole show he talked about how we have done it many times and how this was going to be the last time. He then dedicated the last show to me. How sweet is he? I was so touched. I love him.
Well, I have to go. We are going to see volcan Osorno one last time. :)
I love you guys so much and am excited to see you and hug you too! Mom's first. :)

" I must be REALLY smart because I have a HUGE forehead!" email October 11, 2010
Hey fam! What's up?
So Dadicito, I loved your email. :) Thanks. I love you guys so much!
So here’s something I was really excited about:
First of all you have to understand that our sector is HUGE! So there are many parts that we haven’t even touched yet. We are trying to expand but it’s hard when the sectors are so far away and all of your people are in the sectors closer to home. But we are trying to expand our parameters. :) So I was studying our map and checking out the parts of our sector where we haven’t been and there is this whole chunk on the other side of the highway (Yes, the highway goes through our sector… that’s how big it is) that we haven’t seen. I started browsing over the street names and realized that they looked really familiar… Merak... Vega… Deneb…. NO WAY! I kept reading and saw Altair, Sirius, Regulus, and Polaris. :) I saw Arcturis and sped on down to Spica! ;) Ha ha! We totally have a neighborhood full of star names! I was so happy. :) I’m pretty sure that my comp thought I was weird for being so excited. Ha ha! It brought back memories of all of us laying out on the tramp and Dad saying things like, “I’ll give 50 cents to whoever can point out Spica first…” Ha ha. It also brought back memories of pulling out the telescope and looking and Jupiter and Saturn and Nebulas and other amazing star things and inviting the Petersons over to take a look. :) Anyway… It was a pretty cool discovery.
So the other day we went over to an inactive member’s house. She’s deaf… and she’s hilarious!!! Ha ha ha. Her name is Yolanda. She went deaf recently (I guess it runs in the family.) So she can talk, she just can’t hear. When she talks she always shouts and she says whatever she wants. Ha ha. She’s just a funny girl. :) So the other day while we were at her house she stops everything and looks at me and screams, “Do you have a bald spot?!” And then she ran over to play with my hair and check it out. She soon discovered that it wasn’t a bald spot at all- I just have an unusually large forehead. :) She made that clear when she continued shouting about how I must be REALLY smart because I have a HUGE forehead! (I think that night I was crying myself to sleep on my HUGE pillow. Ha ha) I love Yolanda! :) Her son Kevin is ten and wants to get baptized but with his mom being inactive he can’t. It’s hard because she’s deaf so she won’t hear anything that they are saying. We would write for her and she knows that but she just doesn’t understand the importance of going to church. We are tying to help her see. Kevin understands. We’ve just got to help Yolanda.
This weekend we are doing the Joseph Smith thing one last time. :) There is always so much opposition before we do this thing but in the end it always comes out powerful and we always see miracles. I know it will be the same this time.
So… who has a huge birthmark on their face? And tell Tanner not to tell his name to strangers when they call and his parents are out of town. Ha ha!

"I have learned SO many things that are so basic and simple". Email September 27, 2010
Hola Familia! Mom, Before I say anything else I have to tell you that I LOVED the cute heart you made with the X's and O's. :) Thanks. I love you! Poor Marley. That IS the saddest most forelorn howl I have ever heard. Ha ha. He misses his friends. Ha ha. Poor little guy.
The Primary Program sounds like it was good. :) I love the Primary. I can't wait to hear Kade sing again. Remember when we used to sing Primary songs together? Especially the one that sister Nebeker wrote. He loved that song. It is a good song. So the kids sang "Follow the Prophet?" :) I love that song. My compy and I wrote an arrangement of that song... hee hee. It's pretty awesome! :)
I love your idea about having Mo and I teach about our missions one day for Young Womens. I was going to give you the same idea actually. I LOVE the Young Women! There is just something special about them. I would LOVE to talk about the Mission with them. Especially with Morgan. :) How fun to teach together!
In the mission I have learned SO many things that are so basic and simple and yet somehow I didn't catch them before. I didn't get those basic steps of the gospel that we teach each day in our lessons. For example, I never REALLY understood what the Gospel of Jesus Christ REALLY is and I never understood the simpleness and the perfection of the Plan of Salvation. I would love it if Morgan and I could take a few family nights and teach all of the missionary discussions to the family. I really think that it would be fun and I promise that it won't be boring! :) What do you think? Mo and I could teach as a companionship. :)
Okay, so Hayster, you have to tell me about this date that you went on! I've gotta know what's goin' on with my sister! :) He sounds pretty cool from what Mom said. Tell me how the next date goes. :)
Wow! A 50 mile bike ride! That is one long ride! Way to go Dad and Tanner! You guys are awesome! I don't think that I could ever do 50 miles. Ha ha. Tanner, you should be my personal Trainer when I get home and whip me back into shape. I want to be able to go on a 50 mile bike ride. My little body needs help. Ha ha.
I AM excited for General Conference! :) I love General Conference. It's like going to a buffet and getting all you can eat Gospel. Except you never get full. Ha ha!

Other than that there's not much to tell. We are busy getting ready to do the Joseph Smith thing one last time. It will be on the 16th and 17th of October, right before I leave. I think it will turn out well. There is a lot of talent in this Stake. I also want to do this is the Spanish wards when I get home. It is so great and it brings the spirit so strong of the Restoration and I'm sure that they don't normally get to see productions like this in their own language. I bet that they would love and appreciate it. Anyway, I love you guys so much! I hope that you have a great week! I have been trying to send pics but... as always... technical difficulties. But oh well, one day you will see them ALL. :)

" I am amazed these people and their faith" email 9/20/10
Hey Family!
How are you all? Mom, thanks for updating my facebook and also for telling me about Yeny. :) I love her so much! She is a sweetheart and gives me way too much credit! She was amazing all along. I didn't do anything. :) The Lord and she with all her desires to follow Him are what really brought her this conversion. It's really been that way with everyone that I have taught who has made the decision to get baptized. I'm just a messenger. Then it's up to them to decide as they have spiritual experiences and grow through their own diligence, faith, and desires, wheither or not they will move forward and make the necesary changes. I am amazed these people and their faith and their desire to serve the Lord. I love them with all my heart and they are great examples to me
President Peterson is so sweet. I'm glad that he will be there on the 24th. I really love and admire that family! They are such wonderful people.
That's crazy about the fire. How does something so small turn into something so big? I guess the Lord did say that through small and simple things shall great things come to pass. I hope that they can stop it soon.
That is so fun that Morgan and Hayley celebrated el Dieziocho! Be prepared because next year you will too! :) I love that they ate completos! That is one of my favorite things! A hot dog with lots of mayo and even more palta! (Avacado) They LOVE mayo and palta here and they talk about ketchup like it's some new fancy sauce! ha ha. I love it. The other day at a members house we had potato chips and we had two choices of dips: Mayo or Ketchup. Ha HA! I LOVE CHILE!
We had a HUGE ward activity for el 18. It started at 10:00am and ended.... I don't know when. We abviously didn't go to all of it but our investigators did!! Yay! We came later in the afternoon to eat Traditional Chilean food and Mote con Huesillos.... mmm! And to watch a little Cueca (Which I LOVE and would LOVE to learn one day) And then we left around 8:30 to go home. (we weren't allowed to really work these last few days except with fixed appointments because everyone gets drunk for the holiday and well... it's a little swarthy if you know what I mean... ha ha) But when we left they were still preparing once for everyone and it sounds like the activity went on for a while after we left. Can you believe that? Ha ha. That's what I call an activity! ha ha.
Wow, I can't believe that it's been a year since Mo came home! That's crazy! It went by so fast! How do you feel Mo? It's true. Morgan and I got really close before she left. I love her so much! I sleep every night with the blanket that she gave me and the teddy bear she surprised me with when I had a bad day at school. Remember Mo? Right before you left you called me to see when I would get out of class so that you could come pick me up and i was having a bad day. So then when I came to the car you had a baloon, chocolate, and a teddy bear waiting for me. You are so awesome! I love you so much!!!!
Mom and Dad, don't worry about making me trunky. That's the last thing on my list of things to do. Not that I don't love you but my mind is on so many other things that I don't even have time to really ponder being home. :) I do appreciate you being careful about it. :) But I don't mind that you guys are trunky. You'd BETTER be trunky! :)

How are you all? It sounds like things are going great. Wow Hayster, teaching Gospel Doctrine! Awesome! I bet you were awesome! And Mo, I know your class was great. I bet that you are a great President! That's fun that you got to see your mission President and wife. I bet that's fun that you got to work for him too. How wierd. Time really does go by and life really does go on. Things change so quickly. This last change was really rough on me. I can't even tell you guys what a special place Punta Arenas is. Dad, I loved your sweet letter. :) But I really didn't suffer much from the cold. The snow getting to my frost bite wasn't a problem because an amazing Hermana in the ward noticed that I nedded better shoes and saw that my foot with the wrap wasn't fittin in my new boots that I bought and so without saying anything she went to the store and bought me some snow boots. Then she called me up and asked where we were and pulled up and asked us to get in the car and handed me a box with the shoes in it and insisted that I try them on to make sure that they fit. Oh my gosh you guys. The members there are soooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing and they are so full of love and... I don't know. I just love them sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much! I felt like I was at home in that ward. It was really hard to leave. I cried the whole plane ride. ha ha. :) But I'm okay now. :) I hope to go back one day though.
Okay side note. You won't believe what's playing right now... "Give me time"... Think wedding singer... ha ha...
Anyway, now I'm in Puerto Montt and I am doing really well. My two companions Hermana McShane and Hermana Neubert are really awesome and it's fun being in a trio again. I kinda like trios. :) The house is a cute little house that reminds me a lot of my first house actually. Yes, I am taking pictures of all my houses. :) I was going to send pictures this week of my favorite Jovenes from Punta Arenas after the Joseph Smith musical but won't be able to today. Next week and then I can send you some of P. Montt also. It feels really wierd being so close to my first sector. Thanks for the info you sent. Kinda cool that I know exactly where all of the places that it mentioned are found. Wierd to think that I have been in CHile so long. I feel like I just got here. But I am okay I think with where I am at. Obviously it's going to be rough leaving but I heard Hna McClellan say once that you just had to accept it and it's true. I won't let it get me down. I'll just accept it and keep working hard till the end.
Have fun getting your teeth yanked Hay. It's a fun experience. I remember when Mo and I had ours taken out and I was crying and she was laughing at me becuase I was crying. (I think we reverted back to childhood) and all that I wanted to watch was "singin' in the rain." I memorized the dance to "all I do is dream of you." :) Those were fun days. It grossed me out having to clean out the hole that was left where my teeth used to be. I hope you enjoy that. That's fun that you go to bensons. Are you still cleaning that building?
I'm excited for the package. I'm sure it will be great. They are always great.
I love the goal idea. I'm excited to meet my perfect family. ha ha. :) Hopefully I'll still fit in. ha ha.
What else? It's really not too cold here. A little humid but that's all. My hair is getting long in case you wanted to know. :) It makes me happy.
My companions both sing... need I say more. Ha ha. I'm going to send you a copy of us singing. :) Speaking of recordings, Debs, the recording didn't work. Try sending it again. I love you TONS!!!
Ohcar, I hope that things are going well with Smith and Aponte down there at the bottom of the world. Don't you just love them? I didn't get to see Aponte in the airport. The flights were all messed up for the snow. I don't think that I'll ever see her again. :( Tell Hermana Smith to give her a HUGE hug for me and then have Aponte give Smith a HUGE hug too. And tell Aponte to sing for Smith before bed. And tell everyone that I love them TONS and that things are going well. I love you ALL!!!

"Bring me the head of a pig!" ...and something swarthy..."
Wud up family?!
Wow, it sounds like you had a great week. Our week was pretty interesting as well...
It all started Tuesday morning the day before cambios...
There was an Elder in our District who, for some time now, has been waiting for a package from his family. So... the other Elders... being Elders... decided that it would be funny to give him a package. They brought the box to our final Zone meeting with a note "from the office" saying that the box that his package had origionally been in had ripped so they had put it in a new box... So... He opened the box right then and there at the urging of the Elders who hovered around him he hastily pulled back the cardboard flaps, anxious to see what delightful goodies his loving mother had prepared for him.
Standing at a distance, not able to see what was inside, the reaction from the Elders wasn't quite as I was expecting as I saw them burst out in a roar of disgust and back hurriedly away from the box. As I looked closer to see what all the fuss was about I quickly learned why.
I gazed into the open box and saw, to my horror, the head of a pig... there was no goblet of something cool and refreshing as I know I could have used at this particular moment in time.
The randomness of this week (good or bad) didn't end there. We went by an investigators store to make some calls. We've taught him i think twice. I personally have never taught him because we were always on divisions when we had lessons with him and he can only have us over in the mornings because he works all day until late. But we always check up on him at work. this time when we went he told us bunch of things that he had downloaded online: 25 Books by President Hinkley, other books by Bruce R. McKonkie, all of the primary songbook, all of the hymns of the church and LDS music that he could find in Spanish and also some of the Tabernacle Choir, the whole Book of Mormon in Audio... and much more. He put the whole Book of Mormon on his phone and listens to it at work and while he sleeps. (What the?!) He says he finds that he sleeps better to the Book of Mormon... OKay. That's cool!
We also have an investigator names Rebeca who in two days read all the way to the book of Jarom and I'm sure by now has finished the Book of Mormon or is close. She says that she feels the biggest peace and joy when she reads the Book of Mormon and that she loves the stories and the words and testimonies of the Prophets. She's amazing.
Also, this week we showed up to a recent converts house and she had prepared a little treat for us... ¡Pusha la cuestión! She was so excited for us to try it but she didn't want to tell us what it was... ¡Shoooota! That can't be good... So we sit down and she puts this plate of something swarthy in front of us... (swarthy is our new favorite word that we learned looking up the name of this food and trying to figure out what it was.) It was a rubbery tube stuffed with something smooth and dark brownish-red... It looked pretty swarthy... the fork didn't penetrate the tube so I decided to just unstuff it and leave that part aside. Then as i put a bit of the stuffing in my mouth I felt sick as it just melted and trickled down my throat. I mixed it with bean salad and bread to have something solid go down with it. I was so happy to get through it. When we finally finished we got her to reluctantly tell us what it was... Prietas... We still didn't know what it was... but we had an idea after seeing it, tasting it, and hearing her little girls start to explain it as "una de estas cositas laaaaaargas..." ¡Pusha! We got hjome that night and looked it up in the dictionary but all it did was describe what it looked like and teach us the new word "swarthy." So when we talked to our district leader that night we asked him... he gasped and said "No, Hermana! ¿En serio?" Yes... Pig intestine stuffed with it's clotted blood... Swarthy! I think we met another part that used to be attatched to that pig's head.
Also, we met a girl this week from the UK. I loved her accent. It was the coolest thing ever. :) She doesn't speak spanish either. :) She was adorable!
And that's all for now. This saturday is Independence Day. Yay! 18 de Septiembre! And I will be writing you again on Monday. The P-day got whitched this week because of el 18. But now it's back to normal. :) I love you guys! You are the best!

Wow, it sounds like you had a great week. Our week was pretty interesting as well...
It all started Tuesday morning the day before cambios...
There was an Elder in our District who, for some time now, has been waiting for a package from his family. So... the other Elders... being Elders... decided that it would be funny to give him a package. They brought the box to our final Zone meeting with a note "from the office" saying that the box that his package had origionally been in had ripped so they had put it in a new box... So... He opened the box right then and there at the urging of the Elders who hovered around him he hastily pulled back the cardboard flaps, anxious to see what delightful goodies his loving mother had prepared for him.
Standing at a distance, not able to see what was inside, the reaction from the Elders wasn't quite as I was expecting as I saw them burst out in a roar of disgust and back hurriedly away from the box. As I looked closer to see what all the fuss was about I quickly learned why.
I gazed into the open box and saw, to my horror, the head of a pig... there was no goblet of something cool and refreshing as I know I could have used at this particular moment in time.
The randomness of this week (good or bad) didn't end there. We went by an investigators store to make some calls. We've taught him i think twice. I personally have never taught him because we were always on divisions when we had lessons with him and he can only have us over in the mornings because he works all day until late. But we always check up on him at work. this time when we went he told us bunch of things that he had downloaded online: 25 Books by President Hinkley, other books by Bruce R. McKonkie, all of the primary songbook, all of the hymns of the church and LDS music that he could find in Spanish and also some of the Tabernacle Choir, the whole Book of Mormon in Audio... and much more. He put the whole Book of Mormon on his phone and listens to it at work and while he sleeps. (What the?!) He says he finds that he sleeps better to the Book of Mormon... OKay. That's cool!
We also have an investigator names Rebeca who in two days read all the way to the book of Jarom and I'm sure by now has finished the Book of Mormon or is close. She says that she feels the biggest peace and joy when she reads the Book of Mormon and that she loves the stories and the words and testimonies of the Prophets. She's amazing.
Also, this week we showed up to a recent converts house and she had prepared a little treat for us... ¡Pusha la cuestión! She was so excited for us to try it but she didn't want to tell us what it was... ¡Shoooota! That can't be good... So we sit down and she puts this plate of something swarthy in front of us... (swarthy is our new favorite word that we learned looking up the name of this food and trying to figure out what it was.) It was a rubbery tube stuffed with something smooth and dark brownish-red... It looked pretty swarthy... the fork didn't penetrate the tube so I decided to just unstuff it and leave that part aside. How do you feel? I was thinkin about you that day. Paula (one of the girls who was just baptised) has the same Birthday as you. Kinda cool. :) It made her happy when I told her it was your birthday too. I hope that you enjoyed it. I love you so much! ¿Por qué estoy hablando en Inglés? ¡Por favor chica! Hay que hablar asÃ, ¿cierto? :) La amo hermana. ¡Mucho! Estoy animada hablar asà con usted siempre. Va a ser divertido. Tenemos que tomar una clase de Español juntas. ¡Que divertido será! The staycation sounds like it was fun. I love it when we do those. :)
I asked about the flight plans so you should be recieving some info this week. If not let me know. All I know is that I finish the 20th and then we head up to Santiago to go to the Temple and then after that we head home. So really, I'll probably get home Friday the 22nd.
You asked about the weather. It's about the same here. Warm some days and then pouring the next. :) I think we're entering spring... we'll see. :)
Well, this week was good. Actually, it was great! :) We went with President and Hermana Lovell to Saltos de Petrohue. :) It was amazing! They are so amazing! They took us there and showed us around... you guys, this place is SOOOOO gorgeous! There are waterfalls and rapids everywhere and (if it isn´t cloudy) you can see Volcán Osorno. :) It's RIGHT THERE. We saw the bottom of it at least and it was beautiful. Everthing was so beautiful and peaceful. I love the feeling that you get in spots like those. It's always inspirational. :) I loved it!
After that they took us to go eat these amazing chicken sanwiches. Dad, you would have LOVED it. It was your kind of getaway with your kind of food. :) Aren't the Lovell's amazing?! i love them SO much!
