My dad called me the other day and chastened me for not updating my blog. I felt thoroughly guilty so here I am.
Let's do some updating shall we?

My new calling! Let's start with that. I was called to be a FHE group leader. So far it's a pretty fun calling. Tomorrow is our first big FHE with everyone there. At least I hope everyone comes...  It's crazy how much love I already feel for these people. I'm quite a shy person and I have a hard time interacting, so this is certainly a challenge. I can't wait to meet everyone in my family! Super excited. SUPER.

I'm getting to know the girls in the Repertory Ballet Ensemble (RBE). So far they are so nice. I can't believe how blessed I am to have such supportive girls to dance with. (Literally supportive. We lift each other in dances.) Freshman 15 doesn't exist when it comes to dancers. I guess I should be grateful, but I'm hungry all the time. I actually think I just eat when I'm bored, which is not a good habit to have. Anyway, back to RBE. Friday we had a photo shoot for publicity purposes. In the process I fell flat on my face and came very close to having bloody knees, but my pictures turned out great! I really hope that we get to keep them. I can't wait to see them all edited.

Things I've Discovered:
  • All Clif bars taste the same.
  • All Clif bars look like poop.
  • Jamba Juice, I curse thee. Thy smoothies entice me. My money doth disappear.
  • Autumn here is like winter in Hurricane.
  • I should not buy Milk Duds and hide them in my room. No self control.
  • I somehow always end up wearing all black to Institute. I'm pretty sure my teacher thinks I'm depressed.
  • My spider infestation has vanished. It was replaced by ants.
  • Apparently I look extremely different with my hair up. Veronica doesn't even recognize me in the hallways.
  • Veronica and I should not be allowed into H&M. We shouldn't be allowed anywhere.

I think that's a pretty good update. I'll come back when I have more exciting things to talk about.
I love you ma and pa!

P.S. I miss my cat.

Well, readers. For the first time in my life- and sooner than I could have ever imagined- I signed a contract.
A contract you say? What is this contract?!
I am the newest member of the Repertory Ballet Ensemble.
WAHOO!
I actually didn't even intend to get in. Funny story.
When I was registering for classes I signed up for Ballet Technique II because I figured that I would never be at the skill level to be in Tech III or Tech IV. But after the first couple of days in class my teacher pulled me aside and told me that she wanted to move me up a level. In order to do so I had to go to the Repertory Ballet Ensemble (RBE) and Utah Regional Ballet auditions so that the head of the ballet department could decide what class I should be put in.
It was probably one of the worst auditions that I've ever done and I was pretty sure they would just keep me in Tech II. BUT,  after the audition they called me over and informed me that they wanted to move me up to Tech IV and that I would be perfect for RBE.
I stared at them and said, "WHAT." I'm not even joking. I'm just that awkward.
Except I couldn't take Tech IV because of issues with my schedule. So I'm in Tech III, but that's completely okay. I think I would have been a little freaked out being a freshman in the highest level.
My first week was CRAZY.
But hey, that's not bad for a puny freshman. I honestly didn't think that I was even close to being good enough to be in a company. Confidence boost, check!
I signed my contract today and rehearsal starts tomorrow. I am SO EXCITED. Even though I'll be at school from 8 to 5...

I'm sorry that I kept you in the dark about it for so long. I just wanted to be sure of what was going on.
ENTER DRAMATIC PICTURE.

P.S. I also got a church calling tonight. These were the Bishop's words: "It's one of the most challenging callings, but we've gotten to know you and we think that you'll do great!"  Ha.... I'm freaking out. But I'll tell you about that later when I'm actually sustained.
P.P.S. I haven't seen an insect in about a week.

Here in the great land of Orem there's an abundance of college students, rainy weather (<3), malls, and restaurants.
What there is not an abundance of (practically anywhere) are lanyard makers. And I'm not talking about those generic lanyards that say stuff like "I HEART PHILOSOPHY" or "I HEART PICKLES."
Okay, maybe not many lanyards say that.
I'm talking about handmade lanyards. From the heart type of lanyards.
Yes, I am trying to make lanyards sound sentimental.
Anyway. So awhile ago it was my friend Kallie's birthday and I had no idea what to get her. It was the day of her birthday party and I still hadn't figured out what her present was going to be. I thought that I should probably give her something school related, but I couldn't figure anything out. My dad jokingly said, "make her a lanyard!"
I thought a lanyard was a brilliant idea, much to his surprise. So I whipped one up.
Enter in a crappy picture of the lanyard.
Let me tell you something about myself. I love to sew, but I hate using patterns. I don't use patterns as a way to challenge myself. It's kind of like a puzzle. So I had no idea what I was doing when I made the dang thing. You can probably tell, but hey, I had a deadline and this was my first time. (By the way, my dad told me to put a bow on it. He just knows what goes.)
Kallie loved it! At least I think she did...
I offered to make my friend Tory one because her lanyard has the U of U logo on it and she's going to Dixie. We don't want any riots going on about school rivalry so I decided it would be best to make her a cute one. Picking out fabric for projects is the hardest part. I took about 15 minutes trying to figure out the perfect pairing of fabric. I think I found it. I find this lanyard very cute and I was tempted to keep it.... but I didn't.
I didn't really feel like it needed a bow. FLOWER kept screaming at me. I don't know how I made that flower, I fumbled around for 20 minutes and made it happen.
That was way too long of an explanation for a simple lanyard.
I hope Tory likes it!
CHANGE OF POST SUBJECT.

I feel like I need to talk to my fellow college aged girls.

I know that we are all overwhelmed by the college experience, even if school hasn't started yet. But put aside all the school related stuff, I'm here to talk about other things.
Before I moved to Orem I decided that I was definitely not getting married for another four years or so. Maybe more! I was determined to get myself through school without anyone. Or I thought that I wouldn't find anyone by then.  But as soon as I sat in my first YSA Sunday School where the subject of the lesson was marriage, I had a bit of a reality check.
Now I'm not saying that I'm planning on getting engaged within the year, I'm saying that it could happen at ANY TIME. I was very freaked out. I looked at all the guys in my ward and thought potentialhusbandpotentialhusbandpotentialhusband.
Then I went back to my apartment and had a very long talk with Veronica about it. In fact, we had two more conversations about it that lasted for HOURS.
And I know you are all worried about it as well! You can't fool me, I have the mind of a teenage girl.
The thing that we talked about the most was what kind of person we wanted to be with.
My former bishop always said, "Never settle."
It was basically his motto and it has since become one of my many mottos. (My first one being "I live, I breathe, I geek out, I conquer.") Who in their right mind would want to settle?! But we all know that people do. Maybe it's because they feel like they can't find anyone else, or that they feel like they don't deserve anyone else.
Out of curiosity I had Veronica explain her perfect man to me. I then did it myself. I admit, I have quite a list of expectations.
  • Tall
  • Dark hair
  • Nice teeth
  • Smart.
  • Can sing
  • Handyman

I could go on and on.  Veronica lamented about how there will never be a man out there that is perfect for her considering all the things she wants from him. What if she passes up a lot of nice guys because she doesn't believe they're good enough?
Well guess what. Sometimes you have to revaluate your priorities. He doesn't have to be tall. He doesn't have to be able to sing. He will be just what I'll need and that's what I need to look for.
Another concern came up. I know that so many people worry about this.
Who could ever love me? I'm not what anyone is looking for.
Veronica actually asked me that question. (Sorry Veronica, I'm just telling everyone about you. To make it up to you I'll make you cookies.) I looked her straight in the eye (okay maybe not that dramatically) and said: Veronica, there is a guy out there that is having this same conversation with his friends. Okay maybe not, but you know what I mean. There is a guy out there thinking about his perfect girl. He's probably thinking, how on earth am I going to find a Hispanic girl who just happens to be an artist? Who also happens to be kind, loves animals, is smart, and who wears glasses?

Long story short, don't you worry about a thing, girls. Somewhere out there is a guy who likes pale, brown haired girls that dance and have stubby thumbs. You just have to be patient. You could find him in a month, four years, or even longer!
So, ladies. You better start getting yourself ready for that man that will sweep you off your feet and make you forget all your problems. Remember, he is also looking for a woman who is the best that she can be. Starting to make yourself into your best self NOW is better than doing it later.

I don't really know why I decided to write about that. I don't even know if anybody except my family reads my blog! But hopefully it helped someone out.
Leave a comment below or just mentally tell me something. Whatever floats your boat.
Farewell, readers.

So I bought some bananas.  I didn't realize that I don't actually eat bananas that often... So they are slowly turning brown because I'm too attached to them to throw them away. Is that a woman thing?
So far in my moving out experience I have killed three spiders, not cleaned my room, consumed way too much ramen, and the power has gone out three times. (Due to severe weather.)
I've also discovered that I like anything with John Krasinski in it.
I've discovered the power of eye masks. My window faces the East. Enough said.
Also,  I ordered my school books online from half.com. I didn't realize that they are coming individually and not in one big package. I guess getting 12 packages in the mail is nothing to complain about. I bet everyone is jealous when I flaunt my mail around.
One of my not so fantastic moments, hiding behind a bookshelf because some guy was describing his proposal. I eavesdropped like none other.
Never underestimate the power of granola.

Let's all take a moment to appreciate books.
Actually, let's take a moment to appreciate quite a few things.
  • BOOKS. They will always be there, ready to bring imagination and happiness to the surface.
  • Cherries. Always a good snack.
  • Blankets. I like to be warm. I can never have enough blankets.
  • Disney. Seriously, the classics.
  • Packages in the mail. Even if they are books for school.
  • Eye masks. My window faces the east and I am constantly being rudely awakened by the sun at 7 a.m.
  • Self restraint. Going to the mall and not buying anything? Painful.
  • Not feeling obliged to hug someone even though they're your best friend. We prefer handshakes.
  • Beautiful campus grounds.
  • Nice people. Everyone at UVU is unnaturally wonderful and nice.
  • And last but not least, ready made cookie dough.
Being awake at three in the morning has made me very appreciative.

I have some confessions to make.
But first,
The internet has certain images and ideas that they like to promote. People latch onto those ideas because everyone identifies with them very easily.
For example:
  • Everyone loves unicorns. Obviously they did not get the memo to get on the ark and that's why they're not around.
  • Food is glorious and will forever be everyone's first love.
  • It is generally accepted that everyone hates everyone. In a friendly sort of way, if that makes sense.
  • Everyone "doesn't care."
  • And lastly, cats are the kings and queens of the internet.

Now for my confessions.
First, I DON'T LIKE UNICORNS. Oh my gosh, Megan. You can't just say you don't like unicorns. I don't understand the appeal of them. They're not really majestic in my opinion. You want to know majestic? Thorin Oakenshield is majestic.
Second, I could care less about food. Life would be so much easier if I didn't have to eat. Don't get me wrong, a good roast beef sandwich can sometimes make my knees go weak, but food is not my first love.
Third, I don't hate anybody. I can't think of anybody that I truly hate. Sure, terrorists and the like, but that's a given. I'm kind of a hippie in that I LOVE EVERYBODY.
Fourth, I'm a very mellow person and things rarely bother me or worry me, but that doesn't mean I don't care! I care very much. Almost to the point that it's unhealthy.
Cats really are the gods of the internet. No question about that.

I don't conform to the ways of the internet. I felt like these were really huge confessions for me. (Sarcasm detected?)

Oh wait, one more confession.
I don't like Toy Story.
That one is almost worthy of some scathing comments abo

I sent this picture to Veronica right before I went outside my apartment for the first time. Let's just say I was a bit nervous.
After yesterday's post I felt quite pathetic. I mean, there were HOT GUYS running around and all I did was watch out my window like a creep. I can do better than that.
So this morning I showered, got dressed, made myself look presentable, and took my first step out the door.
The whole 10 steps to my car I was going; ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh
My first stop, my campus. I didn't take into account that it's Saturday, so there was NO ONE there. I felt very self conscious. I actually put all my stuff in my school bag to make it look like I had a reason to be there. Sigh... why do I do those things?
UVU's campus is very confusing. It's all linked together so you never have to go outside. Which is nice in the winter months, but not so nice when you don't have a map and have no idea where you're going. I got lost promptly, but ended up in a beautiful courtyard.
I just turned a corner and all of the sudden water was rushing everywhere and there was a big waterfall in front of me! Luckily I had seen it on my tour of the school so I knew exactly where I was. I was quite intimidated that there was no one there except janitors, so I left.

Next in my outside adventure, the University Mall!
It did not disappoint.
BECAUSE LOOK WHAT I GOT.
My sisters are going to be so jealous... :)

After I walked around the mall for quite a bit, I decided to go to Walmart because I had been living off cereal for the past week. It was so weird just being able to put anything in the cart without having to ask my mom if I could have it or not. Lemme tell ya, it's rather empowering putting your own food in a cart.
Until you have to pay for it. Then the magic is over.
Here's where the funny part of my day began. After Walmart I drove around UVU a bit to see where all the parking is. As I was leaving I somehow ended up on the FREEWAY. I was so confused! But I figured, what the heck, I was bound to get lost sometime.
So I drove. And drove. And drove.
I managed to get onto University Avenue.
I drove. And drove. And drove.
I ended up back on University Parkway where I was supposed to be.
It took me an hour to get home. You have to understand that UVU is like 3 minutes away from my apartment. All because I got in the wrong lane, I got home an hour later.
I was laughing hysterically the whole time. I genuinely thought it was the funniest thing ever.

But hey, I WENT OUTSIDE! I feel very accomplished. Now when Veronica comes I can act all knowledgable about things.
:D
Good day, readers.

I don't think UVU gave me enough stuff.
*Uncharacteristic use of exclamation points will be present in this post*
NEWS NEWS NEWS!
I moved! To Orem. It's crazy. It actually just barely hit me that I am currently living quite a ways from home.  I'm in OREM for goodness sake. I have a massive mall just down the block from me and a Krispy Kreme within walking distance. Culture shock? Yeah.
Since my parents dropped me off I've only been outside of my apartment twice. Once to check my license plate number, and once to hand in my check-in papers. Frankly, I'm scared to go out! I don't know where I should go or what I should do. I've never lived in a place where there's so much to do!
Today I actually got dressed, so bonus point for me.
For the week that I've been here, I have made ramen noodles almost every night. I'm still not ready to venture to Walmart to buy actual food.
I'm such a lazy bum.
I guess I'll tell you what I'm doing in Orem. I guess the picture above makes it pretty obvious that I moved here for college. I will be attending Utah Valley University. GO WOLVERINES! I'm still trying to figure out why our mascot is a wolverine...

Anyway. I'm actually worried about myself going to college.
I don't know if my classmates know this, but I'm REALLY WEIRD AND ODD. I'm also a very quiet person and quite an introvert. I honestly don't know how I'm going to survive up here. I can't barely get out of my apartment let alone eat normal food.

Wish me luck, dear readers. I'm going to need it.

I have to cut this post short because it is in fact RAINING. Currently there are hot guys running around everywhere and I must partake in this glorious site.

Peace.

That music video makes me want to go hand someone a paper with a mountain and an arrow on it.
"What's this?"
*I walk away, smiling*
"No really! I don't understand what this means! What am I supposed to do with this?!"

But all teasing aside, the song has a great message.
Today was my last Sunday in Hurricane. A bittersweet day if you ask me. All today I've been on a spiritual high and when I'm on a spiritual high I think deep thoughts. So I wasn't surprised when this quote popped into my head:

Live in such a way that those who know you but don't know God will come to know God because they      know you.

I first saw that quote when I worked at a farm two summers ago and I remember that when I first read it I felt like I had been slapped in the face. It's such a powerful message!
I don't want to live in a way that makes people question what my morals and beliefs are. I don't want them to question if I know God or not.  When people meet me I want them to instantly see what kind of a person I am. And I want it to be a good impression. I want people to come to know God because they know me. Isn't that such a powerful incentive to live righteously?
We are Heavenly Father's representatives, we stand for him and what we believe in. We have him in us. We are sons and daughters of God for goodness sake!
We got the power.
HALLELUJAH.
And so, readers, arise and shine forth.
Good luck.

The hardest thing about blogging is coming up with a post title. Today's post title features the song that is stuck in my head at the moment. It probably won't have anything to do with the post I am about to write.

Commence typing.

Hi. It's been a while. At the beginning of the summer I was all gung-ho about writing blog posts and then... nothing happened. Nothing exciting happened in my life. I had nothing to talk about.  But NOW, on the other hand, something's happening. Are you ready for this?
I'M MOVING IN A WEEK. MOVING. ONE WEEK.
Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh.
If you know me, you'd know that I'm a pretty mellow person. Nothing really fazes me and I'm pretty chill about everything. (Except when my favorite TV character dies, then I get crazy eyes and my mouth starts foaming.)
But yesterday my dad printed out a college packing list. I took one look at it, LITERALLY started hyperventilating, then gorged on junk food and Netflix for the rest of the day, all the while staying away from my room. I'd say my avoidance skills are top notch.
My friend asked me what my master plan for packing was. I told her this:
1. Curl up in the fetal position and cry.
2. Eat some chocolate.
3. Think about my place in the world.
4. Wait till the last possible moment...
5. Pack.

I don't ever get overwhelmed, so I guess this was my first time. It wasn't fun. I'm still overwhelmed, but it's Sunday so all I had to worry about today was making sure that I got to missionary farewells on time. Tomorrow's a whole different story.
Wish me luck!

I guess I should give you an explanation of the picture.
I didn't know what this post was going to be about so I just picked a random picture. But it's an awesome random picture because it's of Veronica and I Waterbending.  It was taken at La Jolla Bay in San Diego. We went there for our senior trip.
I guess I should also mention that Veronica is the best friend I that was going to room with.
Not anymore! Sad, right? She received a housing scholarship that took her rent down A LOT. But she has to live in a different part of the apartment complex. At least we'll still be close!
This picture just confirms that we're major nerds.

That's all for now, folks!
