Catifa Carta's shell is crafted entirely from PaperShell, a groundbreaking material derived from paper. Comprising 29 sheets of paper bonded with a natural resin binder, Catifa Carta significantly reduces the chair's environmental footprint by sequestering carbon dioxide.

Designed in 1951 in Bo Bardi’s adopted home of Brazil, the Bowl Chair is an icon of Lina Bo Bardi’s adaptive style. Balancing the worlds of industrialized fabrication and the individualized object, Bo Bardi envisioned the Bowl Chair as flexible in structure while universal and essential in form. But, as with all of Bo Bardi’s designs, the ultimate emphasis remains on the human interaction with the object.
In partnership with the Instituto Lina Bo e P.M. Bardi in São Paulo, we produced the Bardi’s Bowl Chair in a limited edition of 500 pieces.
Comprised of 29 layers of paper bonded with natural resin, PaperShell significantly reduces environmental impact by capturing carbon dioxide throughout its lifecycle. With Catifa Carta, we not only minimize our carbon footprint but also embrace the concept of circularity.

In this episode we discuss our approach to developing circular solutions — from the reinterpretation of our iconic collection Catifa (RE) 46 in 100% recycled plastic, to new applications of PaperShell.
