AM Update

A divided people. Just how close is America to another civil war? Are we really examining this as closely as we should? Seems as though average people dismiss this as something that will never happen. I’m not so sure anymore.

No one in the Biden administration suffered any consequence for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Let’s hope someone pays for one of the worst moments in American history.

Kamala recommended raising rates higher than 28%.

If you cheat, we’ll see you in court.

Nikki’s still mad.

Some predict that Merchan will end up throwing out the case against Trump.

And finally, an answer. Sitting on your butt all day results in a newly defined syndrome.

“It’s a mockery of justice.”

This is what reasonable Americans should be concerned about. I also think it’s nothing new. November 23, 1963 was the beginning of it all. Since then, shadow governments and alphabet agencies have been running the country, and ruining lives of famous and ordinary people. I also don’t think electing Donald Trump will end this, though he might be the only person who can try. Putting an end to this evil requires a person who is willing to risk it all, even their life, for the pursuit. If that person doesn’t exist, now or in the future, then we should stop calling ourselves a republic. We should stop bragging about how we’re “of the people, by the people, for the people”.

Ten Years After

It’s been 10 years since my last blog post. I started blogging here in 2004, 20 years ago. For around 8 of those years, this blog occupied my mind most every waking moment. It was fun, too. There weren’t many political blogs on the scene back then, and many who were around are famous people in the media world today. Could I have been one of those? Who knows? My kids wish I had stuck with it, since they’d like nothing more than their PunditGuy dad to have a Fox News show. They remind me what an idiot I am for not pursuing MSM fame. I’m better for it, though. I did a lot, experienced a lot, and the blog was often quoted in the NY Times, SF Chronicle, on MSNBC (before it went completely wacko), on CNN, and in the Wall Street Journal.

I stopped in 2014 because I couldn’t keep up the pace. The blogosphere (is it still called that?) was filled to the brim with political punditry, and most of what I wrote about was simply echoing what was being talked about on a number of other sites. The cable news stations upped their game on filling their 24/7 media channels with content too, and I thought I’d have to have FN, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, NewsMax, and every other channel in the background just to keep up with the breaking news. It was pointless. My day job was busier than ever. So, it was the right time to let the site flounder in the dust of the Internet.

But last week I thought about my time here at PunditGuy. I missed it. I enjoyed blasting my insignificant opinion out on the internet. Back then I did it for clicks and the impression counter. Today, I’m coming back for the catharsis. Writing and getting stuff out there is therapeutic, no matter if anyone reads it or not. So that’s why I’m back here. I’m as outraged as ever, and ready to vomit my opinion on these pages once again. If you do remember me, and find this blog once more, let me know in the comments.

Now…I will officially step up once more to the podium, and be the PunditGuy I once was.

Supreme Court Has Voted to Overturn Abortion Rights

WOW.

The Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by POLITICO.

The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” he writes in the document, labeled as the “Opinion of the Court.” “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

Two things.

This leak is unprecedented.

It came from one of the liberals in the court; either from them directly or from a clerk.

What’s next? Demonstrations for sure, if not riots. The Democrats will once again endorse violence in the streets, just as they did after the death of George Floyd. The MSM will give a full-throated approval too. They’ll first cheer the “brave patriot” who leaked the opinion, and then they will pour out heaping doses of sympathy for all of those souls who are grieving their holy grail.

None of them will ever grieve for the millions of babies who have been killed since 1973.

While We Look at Sean Hannity’s Text Messages…

Let’s take a look at ALL the text messages of every on-camera news anchor or show host on both cable and network TV. But, it’s super easy to call out Hannity. Everyone on the left hates him and wants him silenced.

Fox News host Sean Hannity was taking orders from the White House even as he ranted about the “lunatics” supporting then-President Donald Trump, according to new details in a trove of text messages revealed by CNN.

Hannity and then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows exchanged 82 texts from Election Day 2020 up until Joe Biden’s inauguration as president, CNN reported.

Let’s check Paul Begala’s phone, or maybe Chris Cuomo’s for any text where they did the bidding of a White House staffer. People…EVERYONE DOES IT.

Yet, here’s a focus on one of the most prominent conservative show hosts on cable. An easy target.

Newsflash: TV talking heads have contacts, some of which are at the highest levels of government. How do you think they get stories for their broadcasts? How many times have you heard an on-camera personality say, “my sources tell me…”. Those sources are often press secretaries, advisors, and members of Congress. It’s not shocking. What’s more, in this example of CNN highlighting Sean Hannity paying fealty to the Trump White House, what’s he really doing? He’s trying to get out the vote. For his own party. For a candidate he’d like to see elected. He can do that when he is a show host. He doesn’t pretend to be a straight news journalist like the aforementioned Cuomo.

Sean will be fine, of course. This kerfuffle is just one more example of the left-wing media aiming for TV personalities that have the kind of ratings they only hoped they could have.

Rachel Maddow, can we see your text messages?

$17 Million Per Year

The lawyer whose role it was to be Twitter’s chief censor might just be on her way to collecting a pink slip if new owner Elon Musk has his way.

Vijaya Gadde, who earned $17 million last year as Twitter’s top legal counsel, could be on the chopping block as Musk is reportedly planning to slash jobs and reduce executive pay as he looks to secure financing for his Twitter bid.

After disclosing plans to acquire the company earlier this month, Musk expressed “no confidence” in Twitter’s current management — which doesn’t bode well for their future once he takes the helm later this year.

$17 million. One employee’s salary.

Makes you want to know the other salaries of Twitter’s existing management. I’ve said that Silicon Valley pay is crazy. But does the average American really know how crazy? They’re getting a look at it now. Will Elon expose the outrageous pay rates for other Twits in leadership? Unlikely given his net worth. But if more stories like the one above are written in the coming days, we’ll likely end up getting a peek into more than just take-home pay.

I wonder what those unqualified board members get paid?

At least Twitter is fun again.

Looking Back: Civil War II

In 2014, I wrote this:

We’re on the brink of a second Civil War in America, and there will be no winner.

So, we’re now 8 years from this post, and I think I’m closer to being right than I’ve ever been. Right and Left are hundreds of miles apart from one another – on COVID, on race, on politics, on wokeism…heck, Republicans now hate Disney. I couldn’t have predicted that. Uncle Joe can’t do anything to change where America is. In fact, he’s divided us further than Trump ever did.

Meanwhile, China and Russia watch us. They must love seeing us eat each other alive.

So, in 2022, I’ll say it again. We’re on the brink of a second Civil War in America. Will it be in 2022? 2024?

Netflix Rocket Ship Slowly Falls to Earth

I’ve followed certain Netflix employees on LinkedIn and through Rand’s Leadership Slack channel. For years, the place seemed like “heaven on earth” for people smart enough to be employed there. Great compensation. Great severance (if you don’t work out). Seemed to be the ultimate place to work (along with Apple, and Google). The culture had the typical Silicon Valley elitist atmosphere. So, it’s fascinating to watch now as Netflix experiences their first major subscriber loss in years. This adjustment has had some employees wondering why the party is over. Compensation plans are changing. Teams are being cut. Confidence about the future is waning.

All the weeping and gnashing of teeth seems typical of the millennial coder who lives in an alternate universe where a mid-six-figure salary is adequate but not great. Couple that with free food, free laundry, free haircuts, and, well, almost free everything, and these individuals are accumulating life expectations that can’t possibly be sustained.

Glenn Beck Has Gone Off The Deep End

He truly is our modern-day Howard Beale. Glenn Beck is so terrified of Donald Trump that he’s resorted to preaching a strange sort of ongoing sermon about how Ted Cruz is “the one”, meaning, he’s some kind of messiah or something. And you better vote for Ted, or you’re an apostate. A vote for Donald Trump is a vote against God.

Glenn needs a reality check, and he better be careful before he loses all credibility. Or maybe he already has?

Terrorism: It’s Not Political, It’s Religious

I’ve often argued that Obama, and most Democrats, hold the position that the root of terrorism can be found in issues of “haves and have-nots”. If only terrorists had more money, more opportunity, more freedom, nicer cars, Air Jordans, etc., then they’d be happier people. They wouldn’t be needy, and they’d be less likely to blow people up. The U.S. policy toward terrorists should be understanding, thoughtfulness, and diplomacy. If we’d just give them more, then the world would be a happier place.

Just read this quote from President Obama today.

Obama also vowed to strike back against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria in the first apparent official confirmation that the U.S. believes the terrorist group was indeed behind the Brussels attacks.

“The notion that any political agenda would justify the killing of innocent people like this is something that’s beyond the pale,” he said.

See? It’s a “political problem”, according to Obama. ISIS wants real estate, apparently. They want to be recognized as a government. So, let’s find a way…let’s negotiate with them and see if we can’t find them a nice plot of land to put up some white picket fences to hold the women they abuse.

It’s not a political problem. It’s a Religion problem. ISIS wants to kill anyone who doesn’t adhere to Islam. And not your everyday ISLAM. The Sharia Law kind of Islam. And they don’t want to stop at occupying a simple area of land they can call home. They want to occupy the world. They want to kill Americans. They want to kill Europeans. They just want to kill, period. Are you Christian? You should be dead. Jewish? Dead. Atheist? Dead.

That’s what Democrats, Obama, and all Liberals don’t want to believe. They don’t want to acknowledge the fact that a political solution to the ISIS problem is a waste of time.

We need to unite on the problem of radical Islam. We need to defeat it, and I mean annihilate it. Not talk with them about it. Not find them a spot in the world where they can do their thing and not bug us about our thing. There will never be a place for ISIS in our world. If our politicians really want to protect us, they should stop the tolerance talk and the Islamophobia talk and join a coalition of forces whose end game is the complete and total end of radical Islam.
