WILKES-BARRE — The sights, sounds and flavors of cultures from across the world filled downtown Wilkes-Barre on Saturday as the city’s ninth annual Multicultural Parade and Festival brought the community together on Public Square.

Roughly 600 runners and walkers gathered in Forty Fort Saturday morning, breaking attendance records for the 3rd annual 5K, 10K run and walk to benefit the Forty Fort Cemetery Association.

In a solemn Friday morning ceremony, two Luzerne County officials — Councilwoman Dawn Simmons and Manager Romilda Crocamo — described what it was like to be in New York City as the 9/11 terrorist attack occurred 25 years ago.

WILKES-BARRE — A Luzerne County judge who ordered the reinstatement of two ousted Forty Fort civil service commission members has now denied their request for further relief.

Luzerne County Council formally introduced an ordinance that would set reporting requirements and other parameters for future real estate tax-break requests.
