I am not able to do much due to a chronic illness, this has been a great way to spend long stretches of time. By the way, I still have that silly little pencil ✏️ and Fireball whiskey 🥃 mug . They were given to me by a kindergartner on the last day of school 🏫 with a great big smile 😊 and the tightest hug 🤗 you have had in your life.

Candy Crush Saga is a fun and entertaining game. I have waited a long time for Amazon to provide a version for the Kindle Fire and am very pleased to finally get it! You do not need access to wi-fi to play this game on your kindle fire but let me say tho that if you play via facebook also, you must have access to wi-fi and log in to facebook from your kindle for the game on your kindle to update to the level you are on via facebook. That doesn't mean you can't play this game if you don't have facebook, it just means if you do and you want to be on the same level you are on when you played on facebook you must log in to facebook for it to sync to the same level. Once you have synced levels you do not need to log in to facebook to play on your device unless you leveled up while playing on facebook and your device does not show that you did. Otherwise you will start at level one on your device whether you play it on facebook or not. For those that get upset on facebook because they want to know what happens to all the 'lives' they were gifted from friends, they will show up in your gift box on your kindle or other device (at least on my iphone they do). They can be used as long as you don't accept them until you need them. In other words if you run out of live's, while on your kindle or iphone, open your gift box on the home page of the game and accept only 5 of the gifted live's at a time. (5 is how many live's you are given per game so accepting more from your gift box will cause you to loose them.)
For those that have not played Candy Crush Saga, The game show's up on the screen with varying shaped designs, obstacles and deterrents, in and around them are rows of candies.. orange, blue, green, red (look like jelly beans hence..the candies) on top of square jellies. There are several different challenges but for the most part you are given a certain number of moves, (which vary per level) the general object is to match 3 or more of the same color candies to make them move or disappear, breaking up the jellies beneath them. Each move will break up the square jellies if there are any still remaining under the ones you have moved, eventually resulting in clearing the board of jellies.
Some levels you will be required to clear all the jellies, as well as acquire a certain number of points to be able to move on to the next level. Some are harder than others to achieve both but it can be done!
Matching 4 candies will take away 3 but leave you with 1 of the same color that now has stripes (called a 'special' candy) and when matched with 2 or more of that same color will blow out a line of candy, sometimes causing a string of candies to move, taking with it other candies and jellies, which will change the arrangement of candies, sometimes for your benefit, sometimes not! Sometimes another 'special' candy shows up that is a 'wrapped' candy, matching it up with 2 or more of the same color causes it to blow up the candies around it and then it drops down and blows the candy's around it again, somewhat creating a change in the arrangement of the candies on the board.
Matching 5 or more of the same color will get you a multi-colored ball of candy that can help clear out the board if played right. Using the multi-colored ball of candy can be used with 1 of any color candy you wish (as long as it is next to it), creating all of that color candy to become blown off the screen. Combining the multi-colored candy with a 'special' candy will create a different kind of explosion! Learning what each candy can do makes the game work for you, and of course some computer luck will hopefully come along for you too! There are many different challenging levels as you go higher and other objects are added to the challenge to complete the level's.
This game is challenging as you get to higher levels, and aggravating sometimes too! Mainly aggravating because certain levels seem near impossible to complete the challenge! The levels can be cleared tho, it takes time. I have never spent money on this game to clear levels. I refuse to play a game that you need to spend your hard earned money on, so if that were to happen I would be done but so far I have had no problem.
Sometimes it's just a matter of waiting for the right time (a little luck!) to come along and you complete the level and can move on. Right now I am stuck on level 133 and have been for a few months. This is the first level that has taken me this long, most are cleared in decent time but some are harder to figure out and hence take longer. It is a great time consuming and addicting game. Even if you get frustrated with a level, leave it for a while then come back and chance's are you will complete it soon. My grandchildren love to play this also, (ages 5 & 3) they do pretty well at it. They may not comprehend the object completely but it's exciting for them to 'blow some candies up' and yell "got one gma!" so it is fun for all ages. In my opinion for the younger children it helps with hand-eye coordination too! It's a great, colorful, addicting game for all! I'm sure I left out many details but for the most part this is a general description of the game! Hope it helps!

I have tried numerous puzzle games, yet keep coming back to Candy Crush Saga. It is fun and really can become quite addicting.
Visuals:
The graphics are detailed and high-quality. Colors are vibrant and enhance the playing experience. One minor annoyance is that this app seems to cause my screen to flicker on occasion, mainly with the auto-brightness turned on. It does not last forever, nor occur all of the time, so not enough to negatively impact play.
Sound:
There are options to turn the sound and music on/off by tapping in the lower left corner of your screen. I find the music and sound effects to be very well done, without being overwhelming. The music reminds me of what you would hear on an old Merry-Go-Round.
Battery/Resource/Memory Usage:
This game uses a lot of memory, but has not affected the performance of my Kindle HDX, thus far. Even when I am not actually playing, it uses 135MB of RAM. For comparison, the next closest app uses 39MB.
It also seems to draw a lot of battery power. On my Kindle HDX, playing this game for about 30 min can move the indicator from full to about 82% or so, depending on the level set.
Neither of these has caused a performance loss nor affected my decision to continue playing. I enjoy the game too much and, for me, they are minor inconveniences. I mention them to provide information for those who may consider these factors a major influence.
Game-play:
Candy Crush Saga is very fun to play. The lower levels slowly introduce you to how the game works and also allow you to try out some of the power-ups for free. You can tell if a free one is available on the start screen as there will be a number on the icon. Also, as you play, you discover how to combine candies to create more powerful ones.
The game gives you five lives, at a time, for free. Once you use those up it is about 17 minutes until you will get another life and about an hour until full. You can choose to have the game notify you, or just wait it out. While I do wish there were one or two more standard lives, I think five is satisfactory for a free game. Additionally, using them up provides a break from playing.
The levels, in general, fall into a few categories: "Clear all of the Jelly, Bring Ingredients down to the bottom, Score so many points in so many moves, and Score so many points in a certain amount of time." As you progress through different level sets, new challenges are thrown at you, such as "caged" candies, chocolate that moves and blocks out squares, and bombs to "defuse."
Candy Crush has done a very nice job of inter-mixing degrees of difficulty. I would not say it is always progressively harder, yet as you move further along, strategy plays a larger part. Of course, there are some levels that can be frustrating, yet when you beat them, it is a nice sense of accomplishment.
Lastly, the game scores you using a three-star system; bronze, silver, and gold. While I waited for new level sets to open up (explained further down), I would go back and try to hit gold on older ones.
Ads:
There are no ads for other products or games in Candy Crush Saga that I have noticed. It will occasionally ask you if you want to purchase additional power ups or more moves, yet I did not find it spammy.
Free or Pay To Win?:
Before you start each level, the screen offers you choices of power-ups you can pay for, if you choose. While I did try out the free ones in the early levels, I have yet to purchase any power-ups. Currently I am on level 125 and can say that, at least up to this point, every level can be beaten without buying anything. Some may take you longer to figure out, but I like the challenge of it. They offer you the choice to spend money, yet do not force it.
Also, I have not paid to unlock any new level sets. At first, I thought that it was like the rest, and once you did the first few levels, it would cost money. I hit level 10 and the screen showed "To unlock more levels." so I was initially bummed. Having not hit gold on each one, I went back and kept playing until I scored, mostly, gold stars
from 1-10. Within a few days, the notification screen on my Kindle had something from Candy Crush Saga. It had the icon and read "The Tooth Fairy has a surprise for you." Upon opening the game, the next level set was unlocked. This has been the case for every level set up to my current level 125. Whether or not having mostly gold stars influences it, I do not know, because I always use the time to go back and improve my scores. Be aware that the time it takes for the tooth fairy to visit can vary; sometimes a day, sometimes a few days.
Therefore, while you have the option to spend money to progress faster, to make levels easier, it is not required. As I mentioned, I am currently on level 125, and have not spent money. I actually feel a little guilty about that, because this is a fun game and the developers did an excellent job designing it. I do not think I would buy power-ups, because I enjoy the challenge of beating levels without them. However, if it becomes the case that I have to pay to unlock levels later on, to me it would be worth it.
Conclusion:
I really enjoy playing Candy Crush Saga. It is a nice break and provides challenging and fun entertainment. If you are looking for a candy/gem/balloon type game, I recommend giving this one a try. Just be warned, it can be addicting.

When I first downloaded this game, I could not stop playing it. It was challenging yet fun, and the difficulty seemed to increase gradually... but then I hit a wall, and could simply not progress without burning through my handful of accumulated power-ups. After that, I'd have to spend several days on a level trying to move up in the sugarlicious world of Candy Crush.
Before I get into the reasons as to why I'm not a fan, I'll get into the basics of the game. Levels consist of one of three goals: Score enough points, or clear the "Jelly" blocks, or get the "ingredients" to the bottom of the level. You get points/move ingredients/clear jelly blocks by matching up three like pieces of candy in either the horizontal or vertical axis. You can make certain combinations with more pieces to create special candies that have a larger area of effect. Thankfully, nothing is time-based; the challenge comes from the limited amount of turns you have combined with certain "bad" candies that interfere with your ability to make combos (for instance, chocolate, which will spread piece by piece every turn you don't clear a piece that is adjacent to the chocolate).
So, why did I give up on this game? See, there are many fundamental problems with the it, and all of them are intentionally designed such so as to lead you to the store to buy the items required to advance without wasting hours trying to get the right combination.
To begin with, the game is completely random. This is fine, it makes things more challenging and less dependent on sheer memorization. But at the same time, it gets to the point where skill takes a backseat and luck takes the wheel. You probably won't encounter this for the first several dozen missions, when you can take your time and apply strategy. Keep playing, though, and you'll run into mechanics that force you to rush combinations in order to avoid tight time limits (such as levels with bombs that count down after each turn, and which will force you to lose instantly). Try looking up YouTube walkthrough videos for the game, and you'll see the same thing that I'm describing. Even when the perfect and commonly accepted strategy is there, you'll still see how these players will fail time and time again in the videos. Imagine how frustrating it is to try to figure out how to beat a level, in any game, and then seeing that even when you're doing things right, you're still prone to losing.
And on the topic of losing, we again find a situation where you either have to be extremely patient or extremely willing to part with your money to advance. You begin with five lives. Lose a level - lose a life. Lives are restored at the rate of one per every half hour, meaning that if you lose all five, you'll at least have to wait thirty minutes before you can try the level again. Or, you can pull out some digital currency and hop right back into the game and try again. Be warned, at the later levels, you're probably going to lose due to a lack of viable combinations.
To be fair, you CAN wait for those lives to come back, and in a relatively short time limit. But when the lose rate becomes ridiculous, you have to start relying on power-up candies that give you an upper-hand. By the time you actually start needing these, you'll probably have at least a few saved up. But when you're done with those, the only way to get more is by winning them on the daily spin (one possible per day), or... shell out some dollars. And even THEN, using one power-up on a level may not be enough; you might need a few to clear that ridiculously and artificially difficult level.
TL;DR: It's a fun game for a few days, but you'll get to the point where you need to either wait quite a long time, or you'll need to pay money. And in the grand scheme of things, that's what this game was designed to do: make the developers money on microtransactions for items that may or may not even secure you a victory.
I just can't get behind that philosophy, and that's why I have to rate the game so low.

Super easy and fun for everyone!! This is definitely the best game out there—honestly, it’s the only one I keep coming back to! My arm’s sore from holding my phone so much. It’s awesome!!! Still the best, no question. The levels get tougher as you go, but the developers smartly throw in an easier one every few stages, especially after a tough one, which is a nice touch. I’m totally hooked! It’s perfect for relaxing and taking my mind off things. No ads, which is a great change. You don’t have to spend any money to keep playing unless you want to. It’s just plain fun.

This can be an addictive game and, I must admit, of all the "match 3" games on the market, the Candy sagas are the ones I'm addicted to, although I couldn't honestly say one.
However, Saga has several elements that I hate: timed levels, bombs (that go off after x number of moves) and chocolate spawners. I play to pass time, as an intellectural challenge and, most importantly, to relieve stress. Timed levels are stressful. Bombs that will go off if you can't defuse them in time are stressful. Spawners that fill up the board randomly are stressful.
None of these are necessary to make the game challenging. Soda is actually harder to play (it has chocolate but no bombs or timed levels). However, this is just me. I'm aware that for many people, the time element adds spice to the game.
However, I'm posting this review mainly as a warning: you can lose everything when you play a King game on the Amazon Fire. If you link to a Facebook account (I don't have one) and you lose the game, King can restore your level progress (at the 2 star level) but NOT any of the boosters you've bought or earned. They are stored locally & neither Amazon nor King backs them up. If you don't have a Facebook account, tough luck.
I was at level 743 on Candy Crush Soda Saga, updated the app on my FIre (updates seem to appear every week or two). Something went wrong. I lost everything: progress, hundreds (yes hundreds) of boosters. Back to Level 1. If I were conspiracy minded, I'd be inclined to believe this is a deliberate choice by King since its source of revenue is the purchase of boosters and extra time. I dislike the idea of requiring a Facebook account to restore game progress, but if King can use a Facebook account to restore levels, I see no reason why it couldn't use it to restore boosters.
I'm honestly not sure which company I'm angriest with: King for not providing a full backup or Amazon for not providing any kind of backup. At a minimum, one or both companies should warn serious players of the risk.
