Easy and quick
Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2026This is very easy to use. The first time I tried I followed the instructions from a random person on YouTube. Constantly brushing the cream around for 3 minutes did nothing. I tried again just putting a thick layer of cream on and left it on for 8 minutes. I put it on a glass from the dollar tree that had a textured inside. I like how it turned out. The pictures are one with flash and one without

Best on the market-my opinion
Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2026Follow instructions carefully! Not for kids use without adult supervision!!!!!! Etches very well and with clear, sharp lines. Be aware of any splatters when applied. One got by me, but I etched a small angel over it with excellent results...splatter mark gone!

Easy to use and works well
Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2021When paired with the Cricut for stencil making, this is a quality product that I will be buying again. A little bit goes a long way. I have done similar to the pictured shot glass now 8 times and done a few bigger test runs and I have barely used any from the bottle. This one bottle will last for ever. The best advise I can give is do the process twice at least. When only done once, it is etched but it doesn't show very well. It fades into the background and is hard to see. After the second application, it is much more visible. I would do it a third time as well, but the vinyl doesn't hold up with the washing off part. Over all, I am happy with the finished products and will definitely buy more when I eventually run out!

Good Stuff
Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2026This stuff really works. I used on slate after watching a YouTube video with some tips, and it came out great. The video suggested scrapping it off your project and putting it back in this bottle when it has done its job. The women said that she has used the same small bottle for tons of projects. I am hoping that this small bottle will last me for tons of projects too.

The Anti reflective coating on my glasses was scratch so bad that I couldn't see very well and stopped driving ...
Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2018I Can See Again!
Ordered Saturday afternoon and was delivered by 4:00 pm on Monday and by 5:00 p.m Monday I could see clearly again.
The Anti reflective coating on my glasses was scratch so bad that I couldn't see very well and stopped driving at night because the lights from oncoming cars were totally blinding me. Not wanting to put out $500 for new glasses I decided to research the the internet to see if other people were having the same problem. There were a few videos that required a lot of work and they didn't really seem to have good end results. I found a few videos where people seemed to have good results with Armour Etch. So I figured what do I have to lose. If I totally destroyed my glasses it would be no big deal as they were useless to me in their current condition. I used Q-tips to smear Armour Etch on the inside of my glasses and let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinsed in hot water and there wasn't one scratch on my lenses. Then I used it on a pair of old eyeglasses that I keep as spares just in case of emergencies and they also came clean and there are not scratches on them either.
There is an awful lot Armour Etch left over and probably never have a use for it again - maybe i will start a new hobby and start to use the item for what it's intended use. Guess what my family will be getting for Christmas presents this year.
Should you be having problems with your AR coating on your lenses I would definitely recommend you give this a try.

Perfect for fixing POLYCARBONATE eyeglasses that have been ruined by AR coating
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2017Note: See pictures for before and after results. Obviously, it's quite difficult to capture the scratches in all their glory through a picture, but I tried my best by placing the lenses in front of a lamp light.
It is completely beyond me why optometrists continue to peddle this Anti-Reflective coating for glasses. No matter how careful you are with your glasses, overtime the AR begins to scratch the lenses to the point where they are almost useless. For my last pair, I did not use the cleaning solution that is supposedly made for glasses with AR. The AR became so scratched, I ended up having to buy another pair. But I had no problems with that, cause I just figured it was my own stupid mistake. Bought another pair for over $500 and the SAME EXACT THING occurred within a year...this time, I was extremely diligent and cleaned my glasses with the recommended cleaner and a micro fiber cloth.
My glasses ended up with hundreds (if not thousands) of tiny scratches, to the point where it was like looking through a foggy haze all day long. I used this armor etch (based on other reviews) cause there was no way I was gonna drop another $500 for a new pair.
The solution comes out of the bottle looking like the consistency of Elmer's white glue. I just use a cotton swab and smeared it on my lenses and let it sit for about 15 minutes...then rinsed with hot water. I used only one application for each lens (so I did this 4 times - one application for each lens on both sides). In all honesty, you probably only need to do this on the INSIDE of the lens, cause the AR coating is only applied on ONE SIDE according to my optometrist.
Definitely do NOT use this if your lenses are made of glass. This shouldn't be a problem because I'm pretty sure that almost all eye glasses these days are made of polycarbonate. Also, make sure you wear some heavy duty cleaning gloves when applying, as this stuff will essentially burn a hole right through your hand.
Also, the 2.8 oz is more than enough for one pair. I have enough left over to last me for an entire lifetime (however, I won't ever be paying for AR coating again, so I guess it really doesn't matter).
Picture 1: no etching added to either lens
Picture 2: after etching application to right lens ONLY
Picture 3: right lens BEFORE application
Picture 4: right lens AFTER application
UPDATE AND CLARIFICATIONS:
1) I just want to clarify that this product will NOT remove actual legit scratches on your lenses. It will only remove the AR coating. If your glasses have actual scratches, this product will do absolutely nothing for them. After applying, if you still see scratches, it does not mean it didn't work - it just means your glasses have legit scratches on the surface of the lenses.
2) Sulfuric (and hydrofluoric acid) do not, in any way, shape or form react with plastic - like, at all - this is per science...indeed, a helpful tipoff to this fact is that it comes packaged in a plastic bottle. If you use this product, and your glasses come out worse than they started, it simply means your glasses were NOT made of 100% polycarbonate plastic.
3) If you have Trivex lenses (apparently, a very common alternative to polycarbonate), I would NOT use this product, as I have no idea how sulfuric acid reacts with that material. If you cannot guarantee that your glasses are 100% polycarbonate plastic, do not use this product.

Michael5 out of 5 starsEtched my Riedel glasses with ease
Reviewed in Australia on July 1, 202415 minutes and they etched my Riedel glass wonderfully. Please be mindful to mask off a large area as the fumes from the cream can cause etch marks despite areas not having cream applied.
Update: have now done multiple glasses from Riedel and Gabriel Glas and have gotten great results everytime. You only need 5 minutes but I often let the etch run up to a maximum of 15 minutes to ensure coverage. I use normal vinyl and have not had any issues. The pro tip is ensure your vinyl is cleanly attached and tape off a larger area than your design as the fumes will etch the glass around your stencil if you’re not careful.
