It's super easy to open and close
This is exactly what I needed for my Macbook Air. I can still close my Air without any issues from the webcam cover. It's super easy to open and close. It doesn't open on it's own at all. I was hesitant at first to pay $12 for a "luxury" item. I had been using a bandaid and that was sufficient. But, I will say I'm glad I splurged. It's a lot nicer and more convenient when needing to use the camera. FYI - be exact when you decide to place the cover over the camera. It sticks and doesn't budge (which is good). Unfortunately, I placed mine at a slight angle, so it's a little crooked. It's annoying, but I'll live.

This is amazing for my MAC!!

I have been using this for over a month now and it is one of the smartest purchases. Installation was incredibly easy and it has stayed on for well over 2 months.

I work with my macbook air everyday and am constantly opening and closing it, I am still completely satisfied with its quality. I did a lot of research recently regarding webcams and hurriedly looked for something to cover up my webcam and am so glad I found this item.

It is so easy to use, just slide it across.

      FEATURES:

      * Webcam cover - a new concept accessory for laptop

      * Luxurious and aesthetic beauty and slide-type movability

      * Easy to install, smoothly open and close

Smaller than I imagined but that's a plus. Looks sleek with matte silver finish that perfectly matches the silver of my laptop, stays on (so far), and the slider works perfectly. Though I can't speak for longevity, this is a nice little webcam cover. (If they made a longer one, it would also cover the microphones on either side of the camera.)

If you're concerned about security/privacy and as an added precaution, you can usually disable the camera and microphone on your device. It takes a few seconds. A quick web search should wield easy-to-follow instructions for your specific OS. It's just as easy to re-enable them if you want to use either one in the future, the change need not be permanent.

This item is really straight forward. It's basically a frame with double stick tape. You remove the double sticky tape protection, and STICK the frame onto your monitor, right over your webcam. Then just slide the cover over the frame.

Installation Tip: Slide the cover half way from closed to open, THEN remove the sticky tape protection - now you can see exactly how this will fit as you stick it onto your monitor. Press down, and you're good to go. Just slide the cover to show or hide the webcam.

Many buy these are there are some hacks out in the wild that will allow an attacker to take control of your webcam and view it remotely.

This isn't why I bought this cover, though it's perfect for somebody who wants extra peace of mind.

I bought this as I participate in many web conference calls, and at times I want to participate but not be seen during segments of the call. So, this little cover is the perfect accessory. When I want 30 seconds of video privacy, just slide the cover and I'm golden.

It comes in a surprisingly nice box, VERY well packaged and protected.

See my attached photos - they show the cove CLOSED and OPEN...

I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

Really cool and easy to apply. Looks great on my Macbook Air 13", as in you really can't notice it because of how well the material and color blend with that of the laptop. And no, it does not affect the laptop's ability to close properly at all. Once it's on, it's on, so a) make sure you apply it onto the laptop straight the first time, and b) apply it with the little cover slid back so that you can make sure you're not placing the cover on top of the camera (obviously, the camera should sit unobstructed between the two slider rails).

Whether you never really use your camera for anything or you use it a lot, this is a quality invention. Bought a Black one for a Macbook Pro and a Silver one for a Macbook Air - both look and work perfectly. It slides easily, doesn't collect dust and allows the laptop to still easily close and open.

I reviewed this for [...]. The Steagle Laptop Webcam Cover is a sleek aluminum webcam cover with large opening. The sliding cover design is larger than our top picks and not practical on smaller laptops.

      The Good

Construction is high quality and sleek. The cover slides open and closed with ease. The opening is large so will accommodate higher end webcams that are too large for the smaller covers.

      The Bad

When the unit is closed it is fairly compact but when opened it stretches to 30mm long, making it likely to cover the webcam indicator light, microphones, or ambient light sensors on many laptops. It is also comparatively thick and so would put pressure on the touchpad of smaller laptops when the screen is closed.

      Conclusion

The Steagle Laptop Webcam Cover is a good choice for larger fixed position cameras in meeting rooms or televisions but it is not a practical choice for use with smartphones, tablets, or smaller laptop computers.
