    5 out of 5 stars
If you’re debating this printer, JUST BUY IT…total work horse.
DISCLAIMER!!!!!! SO PLEASE READ!!! I want to start by mentioning something important especially because I’ve seen reviews from other buyers who experienced unwanted ink marks or lines on their prints. So they gave a 1 star or a “zero if they could”. After months of heavy use, I eventually noticed a tiny spot of ink transferring under the printhead, which caused a few dots or streaks on the edges and around of a couple prints. It wasn’t the printer “going bad” or “the worst printer ever” it was simply the wiper blade and the overflow ink area needing cleaning. EcoTank printers store small amounts of spillover ink inside (which is normal for how these systems work), and if you never check it, the buildup can eventually transfer to the underside of the printhead… This is why it’s IMPORTANT to occasionally lift the lid, gently wipe the wiper blade(flimsy black rubber blade directly under the print head all the way to the right ) and accessible areas and run a printhead cleaning(as many times as it takes to fix the segment from the broken lines and especially if you have any issues with your printer from, maybe it being dormant for a while). I’ve had this printer since August 2024, and this was the first time I ever had to clean it and once I did, it went right back to printing perfectly. Ive seen a lot of the negative reviews on here (like the one saying they never printed much but still had lines) tell me that many people simply don’t know this printer has a small internal overflow tank and parts that may collect ink over time. That doesn’t mean the printer is bad or worthless, it means MAINTENANCE IS PART OF OWNING this printer. So once you understand that, this thing performs flawlessly. Honestly I wish I knew about this printer sooner. I originally bought my first ET-2800 for our home office (we run a local tree service and more company and I print/scan documents nonstop. And I SWITCHED FROM a basic CANON. But this one had amazing reviews, not to mention all the nonstop Shaq commercials and the cannon we had always gave us issues, so I took a chance… and I’m glad I did because this machine has become my go-to for EVERYTHING. The print quality is incredible. The scanner is clear as day. The colors are true-to-life and exactly what I see on my phone or computer is exactly what prints. I recently started printing photos for Christmas gifts and even printed custom made baseball “admission” tickets for my nephew’s 8th birthday invitation. They look professionally printed and yes all done on this little 2800. If I had gone to a print shop or had someone do them it would’ve cost $100-$200 for these. Paper I’ve used (all worked beautifully & instantly dried) 1. Epson Value Photo Paper Glossy 4x6 four . Absolutely perfect for the birthday tickets. Sharp, vivid, instantly dry. 2. HP Copy & Print 20 Everyday Paper (light blue wrapper) Great for home print outs, letters, and anything business, school or home related. 3. 8.5x11 Glossy Inkjet Photo Paper (36-sheet pack). Full-size photos printed beautifully with no smearing, I even made some collages and on some I put several photos on one page so I could cut them out vs printing smaller individuals that take more time. I was so impressed that I bought a second ET-2800 on eBay strictly for sublimation(and it was already set up “converted” and please don’t think that to “convert” something really hard to do… it is not, just get a brand new inkjet printer and just use sublimation ink from the start and never mix the inks with regular eco ink (I use Cosmo’s), then set your settings and on your epson smart panel app set it to inkjet and they print perfect as well and then your ready for heat press! Buying used tech is always risky but the “progress report” showed only five pages printed when I got it. Basically brand new. And it works just as flawlessly as the original everyday printer. And the brand of paper I use is either the A-SUB or the HTVRONT sublimation paper 8.5x11. Between business documents, party “photobooth” flyers, photos, sublimation templates, craft projects and home décor, the ET-2800 hasn’t failed me once. Reliable. Clean. Inexpensive ink and ink lasts a long time. Professional quality. Easy to maintain. Truly the best printer I’ve ever purchased and I’ve had several over the years….and so good I bought it twice. You won’t regret it.

WOW! This printer has been VERY impressive thus far *UPDATE*

My old printer broke (sooner than I would have liked) so I did A LOT of research before deciding to buy this Epson EcoTank printer for home office use. This is my honest review of it this far and I will definitely update my review if I run into any issues.

So far, this printer has been pretty impressive (I've been using it for about a month). The price was pretty average for a printer... but I personally think all printers are overpriced so it was a bit more than I would have liked to spend. It is smaller and more lightweight than I was expecting which is a plus because it takes up less desk space than my previous HP printer.

It is very easy to set up, comes with step-by-step easy instructions and guided instructions through the app. It only took me about 10 minutes (Mostly just waiting for the printer to initialize on its own). It is very easy and surprisingly satisfying to fill the ink tank. I like the idea that this ink might last longer than traditional cartridges and won't have as much plastic waste that went along with my old HP Inkjet.

I have printed plain black and white documents as well as photos. I print all my photos at home, which is most of the printing that I do, so quality was important to me. The photos came out with pretty good quality! No ink smudges or off colors, colors are bright/vivid, and it is easy to modify what paper you're using with automatic prompts on the printer.

Now for the negatives and the reason I'm giving this 4 stars... app to printer connection issues. This was a big issue with my old printer as well. I'm pretty tech savvy and I just have no idea why this is still always an issue for me. There is an extra Epson app that you are supposed to download for printing. Sometimes it can find my printer, sometimes it can't. Sometimes it gives me printer errors or won't let me print documents. And now every time I go to print something it says the paper being used doesn't match the paper settings so I have to bypass that error message (even though it does match in settings and the app, and this happens for both regular paper and photo paper). I've turned everything off and back on again, but the issues with consistent connection and error messages are still an issue.

Usually with some fiddling around, I can get the documents/pictures to print but sometimes it feels like I'm jumping through unnecessary hoops. I'm still working out the kinks so if I find some magic solution I'll update my review. Considering this is an issue with most home printers I've used, it's not a deal breaker.

All in all, if you are looking for a new home printer, I would definitely recommend this one. The quality has been great for me and I am pleased with my purchase (so far).

      Hope this helps!

*UPDATE*: I have now printed HUNDREDS of photos, they are all excellent quality, and my ink tanks are still mostly full. This is WAY better than my HP printer as far as ink longevity. Changing my review to 5 stars just based on how long this ink lasts. User interface is still a tad annoying but so worth it regardless.

I wanted to wait to write a review on this printer to see how it held up over time. Happy to report, after almost a year, it is still working perfectly! I was very nervous about purchasing a printer since it was my first time having to shop for one and almost every printer I looked at had something negative to say about the product. After extensive research, I decided to take a leap with the Epson EcoTank 2800.

I was looking for a printer to use for recreational use. Something with decent print quality and longevity as well as something on a reasonable budget. I normally print full pages of color and have been using it regularly for around a year and I have about half of the ink that came with the printer left. Safe to say, the ink lasts a while. The quality may not be the top of the line quality you can get with a more expensive printer, but for the price and just everyday use, the quality is satisfactory. It was easy to set up and walked you through the instructions to connect to devices and configure it. The screen is a little small but if you can overlook that, it really is a nice printer. I have used regular printer paper, card stock, and sticker paper with this printer and I try to load only a few sheets at a time to avoid a jam but I haven't had any issues with it so far.

Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase. It can be extremely difficult to find a decent printer and some reviews can be misleading or leave you with questions on if the product is for you. If you are looking for something for printing everyday with decent quality and ink consumption that won't cost you a fortune, this printer is definitely worth taking a chance on!

My Epson printer is total junk!

I have had many printers over the years. I started with Canon dot matrix printers, and then ink jet printers. In the old days, and ink cartridge contained all the colors, so if red was out, you tossed away the rest of yellow and blue too. They were pricey and wasting ink wasn't something I was OK with. I would pull ink cartridges from dumpsters outside office supplies stores, take them home and draw the ink from them to fill my cartridges with. Then Epson came up with a cartridge for each color and black . That's when I switched to Epson and have used them ever since. I did have an HP in there when I got such a deal I couldn't pass it by, but after several years it died and I switched to Artisan printers. I still have an old 810 that is finicky and I don't want to have to coax it just to print a few pages. I got a WorkForce printer ,used it several times after I got it, and then it sat idle for 5 years or so. I moved recently and decided to set up the WorkForce printer. The new ink cartridges were practically new, but sat for 5 years maybe, so the nozzles and print head needed cleaning, I expected this. It uses mass amounts of ink to do this so then I was out of ink. I ordered new cartridges, and back to cleaning when they were inside. I never got anything to print, plus, the new paper I ordered was as glossy and slippery as photo paper, and the rollers couldn't grip it.

I gave up and ordered this printer as a replacement.

Setup went OK until I put paper in, then the rollers were slipping and I got jam messages, even though nothing was inside. I pulled the paper and let it finish the initial process. Then I put paper in when it wanted to align the print head. It fed paper OK for now, so I guess maybe I didn't get hosed on this Epson as I did buying the WorkForce Epson.

      UPDATE

      November 1st 2025

      This is a frustrating printer!!!!

I'm using WIFI network to connect the printer to my laptop computer. I like to be able to print or scan from anywhere in the house. If you purchase this frustrating Epson printer, you now have a ball and chain around your leg. You can't print a simple document without some kind of error code popping up and requiring that go look at the minuscule little screen and try to figure out what button you must press to get the document printed. If I have to be right next to the printer, I might as well use a wired connection. I am disabled and it's a real inconvenience for me to have to go to the printer and squint at the tiny screen to try to figure out why it's been ten minutes of my time and I still haven't gotten my 1 page document in my hand. High speed printing is not high speed when you can't get a printed page without having to make several trips back and forth to the printer. I set the default paper to the standard plain white letter paper, only to find it wants to scan to photo paper, so it just sits there like a block of cement and nothing gets done. I had an Epson Artisan 810 that I really liked, except for the automatic feeder quit working so you had to stand there and feed each sheet to be scanned by hand. I didn't want a sheet feeder on the printer because they break down and the you're feeding by hand anyway. I just hate printing anything at all now because of this printer. I wasted several hours one day trying to print documents that I downloaded and needed a physical copy to present in person for a project I'm doing. Normally I would send a PDF file, and let someone else bother printing if that was necessary. After years of purchasing Epson printers, this is absolutely the last Epson I have spent my money on. Never ever again. The first clue should have been when the quick start guide suggested using a smart phone to set up the printer. I'm not going to work from my 5 x 7 phone screen when I can instead use a 15 inch laptop screen, and keyboard. It's simply a stupid idea. Sorry, but no more Epson for me ever!!!!

      Update:

      4/10/26

This is absolutely the most useless and frustrating Epson printer that I have ever ever owned. I cannot see good close up I need reading glasses to read. The digital screen on this printer is minuscule it's like a postage stamp size absolutely worthless. I have to carry a magnifying glass over to the f****** printer so that I can see what that little miniscule screen has to say on it. The most frustrating thing is every time I want to print something which is rare I don't print things every day the printer is not available is the message I always get I go over there by the printer I turn it off I turn it back on, that should clear out any crap that's on it so it's ready to print right? No you would be dead wrong! Instead you get a stupid little mini School screen and wants to be set on copy mode. I don't want to copy anything I don't want to scan anything I just want the damn thing ready to print. Anyway you come back to your your phone and you want to print and a printer still not available. I literally destroyed my phone I was that pissed off. I'm too old to be frustrated like that all the time. At 75 years of age I have had my share of printers over the years starting with the original dot matrix ones. Absolutely none of them were as difficult to use as this stupid printer I got now from Epson. When you want to print something you should be able to send it to the printer and it should print. You should not require a phone app to set the damn thing up! One thing I'll say, it's pretty good on ink because you can't make the damn thing print when you want it to !!!!!!!

I admit it - I have massive hate for inkjet printers, solely based on the old "ink cartridge" days. You remember, when they spuriously "primed" themselves nonstop until they ran out of ink, then refused to work till you replaced them, even if you didn't need the color that just ran out. Don't get me wrong, they didn't start out awful, but they got that way when they figured out ways to keep making you buy their overpriced/underfilled cartridges.

Not anymore! These Supertank Printers are so much better!! Even this one, at a more budget-end of the Epson line, produces wonderful photo-shop print quality photos and the all-in-one features "just work". The ink goes forever - I've completed a project which required printing almost 300 photo-quality prints on photo paper, mixture of 4x6 and 5x7 and the ink tanks are still half full!

I still wouldn't buy an HP or Canon based on terrible experiences in the past (not even their version of the ink tank fill system) but I am more than happy with this Epson - it is making me not hate inkjets!

Updated 4.29.2026: from zero to 4 stars.

I felt compelled to update because Amazon did make things right! However, it's not because they made it easy.

One should never underestimate a perimenopausal woman.

We’ve survived mood swings and night sweats, and we're done entertaining the audacity of people.

      Our patience? It's limited.

Our tolerance for nonsense? Has expired.

Our ability to speak our minds? Fully activated.

...we’re not to be messed with. I pursued Amazon and finally got a full refund on a product that was clearly defective and not even a year old.

Thank you, Rick S., in Amazon customer service, for showing there is still good in people and making a wrong situation right!

Absolutely ZERO stars. But I had to pick one in order to submit! This review is for both Epson Customer Service and Amazon.

I’ve had this printer for less than a year. It worked fine until about a week ago when it jammed. I cleared the jam, and it printed normally—briefly. A few days later, it started failing to feed paper properly. It pulls the paper in about a quarter of the way, then stops and bunches it up.

Trying to get support has been beyond frustrating. Epson won’t assist because the printer was purchased on Amazon through HiTouch Business Services (a Staples subsidiary). The seller can’t help because the order was fulfilled by Amazon. When I contact Amazon, I’m either disconnected or left on hold—only to be told they can’t help and someone will call me back (which hasn’t happened).

I’ve never experienced such poor customer service or been given the runaround like this. Extremely disappointing.

Life changing! It prints EASILY from iPad, iPhone & windows laptop. Takes a bit to get signal from wifi & then BAM! Beautiful print out. Our old HP printers took forever & only printed ~40% of what we wanted. I was able to get an entire package of info printed from multiple sources in just a few minutes. Also love the ability to fill inkwells instead of constant plastic waste & $$$ of old HP or Canon ink cartridges. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My original package was taken by a porch pirate and the seller promptly refunded me. Customer service is prompt and excellent. I couldn't wait for another to be shipped because I needed it right away, so I had to physically go to the store to get one. I almost got a different model from Best Buy, but I was able to find the same model that I originally wanted (the 2800) from my local Office Depot store. I don't need double sided printing because I got my ecotank specifically for converting into a sublimation printer.

I am fully aware that converting to sublimation voids any and all of the warranties of my printer and I shouldn't be broadcasting that I did it... but here we are. I used Tounker brand sublimation ink to fill my tanks and have been getting clean, crisp, beautiful prints. Because sublimation ink is thicker and more prone to clogging it is recommended to print at least once a week, so I have been trying to print at least once every three days at the longest in between uses. I have some pattern sheets that I use for earrings etc that are great time filler prints.

I feed my sublimation paper into the tray one sheet at a time and I have not had any jams this way. The ink lasts seemingly forever, and the details of my prints are crisp. I want to buy another ecotank specifically for normal printing jobs, probably in white so it is easier to tell them apart and not accidentally print on the wrong machine before I've had coffee to jump-start my brain.

The printer was super easy to set up with easy to follow prompts on the display. I didn't have any trouble connecting it to the wifi. I love my printer and will be buying another one when I can afford it, and I will be buying it from this seller again because they were very kind and understanding to work with when I bought my first one.

I’ve been using my Epson EcoTank ET-3850 for about a year now, usually printing about once a month, and I’ve been very happy with it. Even with fairly infrequent use, I haven’t had issues with the print heads drying out. I’ve calibrated it and cleaned the nozzles maybe once or twice over the entire year.

The best part for me is how well it handles large print jobs. I recently printed around 400 pages of documents and it went through the entire job without any issues. The ink tanks are extremely easy to refill, and the ink lasts a surprisingly long time compared with traditional cartridges.

It’s perfect for documents, occasional photos and general home-office use. Very reliable and economical printer — definitely one of my better home-office purchases.

My old Cannon printer was almost 20 years old and I finally decided to replace it. I decided on this one and have now had it for 3 1/2 weeks. I don't generally print much but I have put it through its paces some and am very happy with it.

Installation was easy and flawless. I have it hooked up via USB cable to my desktop, so I can't comment on printing from a phone or tablet. I love the ink tank system. Because I don't print much I have a weekly reminder in my calendar to print a page. I found a test graphic that uses a little color from each of the tanks and black. So far so good. There are also some great guides online on how to clear badly blocked nozzles. Printing text is fast and the quality is IMO excellent. Text with light graphics on plain white paper is also fast and the quality is also great.

I bought some 8 1/2" x 11" Epson glossy photo paper and some Epson ultra premium glossy to test out for pictures, just to see what this puppy could do. The reviews lead me to believe this printer performed poorly at this. I downloaded some HD, good quality photo files and picked a few of those to try out. I printed the same picture on ordinary white paper and the two photo quality papers using Paint Shop Pro 2023. I have been an amateur photographer for decades so I know what photo quality prints look like. The prints with the photo quality paper are way better than I expected. Yes, the shadows and highlights loose some detail, but it is working with three colors and one black. And if I look at the resolution and sharpness through a magnifier I can see the difference compared to photo printer output, but again, this is not a photo quality printer. I can also not comment about color fidelity because my monitor is not currently color calibrated (hoping to fix this soon), but IMO it's not bad. In the end this is a printer that is really inexpensive to run and can print pictures that look really good unless you judge it against a better, way more expensive system.

The only negatives I've found so far is in the software. I am running an old computer on Windows 10 Pro and this could be one issue here. I have had a few print files get stuck in the print queue and could not delete them. This seems to be an issue for some people because I found a couple of workarounds online for it and one is working well for me. Another one is the print driver seems a make choosing my photo print quality options a little finicky. Regular printing is easy. I'm pretty computer savvy so I don't usually have problems like this, but it is getting better as I learn the driver's quirks so maybe it's just me. I have not needed to contact Epson about anything yet to solve a problem and I'm still getting better at working with it. I just wanted to mention these to round out my experience with this machine so far.

All in all, I'm loving the ET-2800. If this changes I'll come back with an update.

Epson Eco-Tank ET-2800 Review - About 19,000 sheets printed and mine is end of life.
Reviewed in Canada on July 15, 2025
Brief content visible, double tap to read full content.
Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

This is my second ET-2800. I bought it for printing an advertising campaign for a small business. I used it for high-volume printing and managed to run it to end of life in about two months. So, I am reviewing a printer that I have owned for only a few months that is now non-functional (end of life).

My experience with the ET-2800 has been generally good. It provided a reasonably low-cost option for printing the project I was making. With the cost of the printer and ink together, considering the printer to be a consumable for the task, it was well worth purchasing, in my opinion. Some issues arose, such as the printer stated that it was end of life after it printed about 19,000 sheets, normal printing mode was loud enough to bother someone in an adjacent room, normal and quiet printing modes were both too loud to tolerate for long periods for me being in the same room, and the printer was unable to print batches of more than 25 copies without printing an infinite quantity (would print forever).

Unlike the laser printer it replaced, this printer did not make any odors in operation. Even when running for hours and hours and hours on end, there was no noticeable smell from the printer.

During my time using the printer from new to end of life in only a few months, I had three paper jams in total. Misprinting occurred every 500 or so pages at the start, but I started doing a print head cleaning every 200 to 400 pages which stopped this issue.

End of life occurred during a printing session, where it printed the first two copies and then stopped. It indicated that it was end of life and would not print. Before this, the printer was functioning perfectly well. The sudden cessation of function was surprising. I was unaware that it would cease function like this. I had recently replaced the ink waste tank, as the original was full. This was not the cause of end of life. I am unsure as to why my printer, after about 19,000 sheets printed, has stopped working.

Regarding print quality, it has been generally excellent. Black and white has been great in both normal and high-quality modes. Colour printing in normal mode is adequate, however in high-quality mode is excellent. Combine high-quality colour printing with glossy paper and the results are amazing! Overall, for the projects (small business flyer, small business booklet, some colouring books, etc...) I used this printer for, the finished products were all extremely professionally done and look impressive. The booklets produced by this printer are the main way that the small business I made these for is now obtaining new customers! Many compliments about how professional the booklet is have been received so far.

I am disappointed that my black ET-2800 is end of life (after about 19,000 sheets printed). I am currently using a white ET-2800 that I purchased about ten months ago for my father’s office as my main printer now. Being aware that there seems to be a defined end of life for these printers, I will be reserving high-volume printing for a laser printer more likely able to handle the task, and use my white ET-2800 mostly for it’s tremendous ability to do very professional-looking colour printing and for normal every day printing in my office.

      Pros:

      * No smell during operation.

      * An inexpensive printer to run (purchase cost and cost of ink).

      * Able to reliably print various weights of paper in quantity (20, 24, and 65 lb paper) with only the occasional paper jam and misprinting.

      * Easy to refill with genuine Epson ink.

      * Able to handle severe use with few malfunctions.

      * Excellent print quality in both black and white, and when printing in colour.

      * High-quality colour printing on glossy paper makes for amazing results!

      * High-quality black and white printing is very professional looking!

      * Works easily and no set-up is needed on Mac and Linux (Ubuntu 25.04). Plug in the USB cable and computer would recognize it without any drama.

      Cons:

      * Not able to print a batch of more than 25 of one item. If you try to print more than 25 copies, it will print continuously until you cancel printing (running forever)!

      * Not meant for high-volume printing, as it is too slow to finish jobs in a timely manner.

      * Seems to have a defined end of life that happened at about 19,000 sheets for my printer.

      * Single-sided printing only. If you need double-sided printing, please buy one that does this. Manual duplex printing is time-consuming.

      * Normal printing mode is too loud to use when people are sleeping in adjacent rooms.

      * Normal and quiet printing modes are both too loud for sustained printing. Hearing protection may be wise if you plan on printing more than 100 pages at a time.

      * Set-up on Windows 10 took about an hour.
