I love the way this film looks when the light hits it. We redecorated my daughters room with a loft bed that sits right in front of her windows. This film provides enough coverage for privacy while allowing the natural light to still illuminate under the loft. The beautiful light play is somewhat reminiscent of upcycled CD art which works well in bringing her room together with the CD Mosaic Dragon we made for her wall. The windows now look very elegant, and fit nicely with her transition from little girl room to teen/young adult room. I bought some for my bedroom windows as well, her windows face east and get light most of the day while mine face west and only get evening sun though so I'm hoping the light play will still be good in my room too... if not I may have to update this review.

The film itself is thicker than I had expected (in comparison to some other window films I've used elsewhere in my home) which I think is great for durability. I can't really attest to whether it blocks out much UV rays. Even windows themselves filter out some UV rays though so I would imagine this does block some UV rays as advertised but how much, I don't know.

It is fairly easy to install, pretty much the same as any other non-adhesive window film. However, I did have one issue with it. One of my windows the bottom edge of the film curls up. No matter what I do it continues to curl up away from the window. I've instaled non-adhesive film before, none of the edges seem to be binding, the window was cleaned many times before application so there is nothing like dust or oils that would be responsible for poor adhesion. I've used the same process on all eight window sections but just the one section keeps doing this. I almost gave it only 4 stars because of this but I just really love the way the film looks and I can probly use a little adhesive behind just that spot if it keeps bothering me.

As a side note I think these would make lovely wings for a fairy costume and if you leave the backing on it's very sturdy feeling. Even without the backing it's pretty thick and durable..

This window cover is beautiful. It is high quality, thick plastic, installs easily, and has relief (you can feel the design etched in). Plus at this price, as compared to the other high quality covers, cannot be beat.

The size I ordered, 3ftx 6.5ft, covered two 12 in x 72 in windows and an oval window that was 32in x 55in. It is sticking wonderfully, just follow the directions. Clean your windows and apply a lot of soapy water to your window as you install it. It will literally float around as you put it in place.

As for how it looks, I was worried that it would be a flat sheet of plastic with the lines drawn on like a lot of cheap, fake looking ones I have seen. It is not. It is actually a good replication of etched glass. It shines beautifully when the sun shines through (which it does clearly, the light is not diminished), and in the evening when the hall light is on. The colors reflected are a true rainbow hue; like in a prism.

It does not block the view inside the house. You can still see people behind the window, and in the evening you will be seen, just not in detail (forms can be made out, but unless someone is at the door/ window, they can't see what you are wearing, etc). So this is not for super privacy, for that I suggest a frosted glass look.

This particular design lends itself to trimming mistakes. I get nit picky about these kind of things, and there are definitely areas that I did not trim as cleanly as others. I thought I was going to have to redo one of the windows because of it, but when I stepped back it was completely unnoticeable. I actually had to look for the areas, so a casual observer would have no idea.

TL;DR: Overall this is a great value. The price is great compared to others, looks are far superior to anything I have ever seen, made of quality material, installs easily (follow instructions), and lends itself to trimming mistakes. I am totally satisfied with my purchase.

(1 year update: Still looks fantastic, no fading, no cracking, no peeling. Most people have no idea it is cling film, and express surprise when they find out. *if they came over prior to installation they know it's plastic. if they are new visitors and compliment the windows, i tell them it is cling film and they are amazed. still 100% satisfied with my purchase)

I was skeptical of the great reviews, but took the plunge. Boy, am I glad I did! Having had nightmare experiences with some of the adhesive window films, this was a very pleasant surprise. It's a heavy weight vinyl, almost the weight of a light vinyl tablecloth. I took a cue from the fabric stores and used the channel on a laminate table to make my cuts straight and added 1/8" on sides, all before removing the backing. Overlap onto window frames is not obvious. As there is NO adhesive involved, the most challenging part of the process was removing the clear backing. Once that's done, if it folds over onto itself, just gently pull apart--no marks, creases, or problems. Easier than contact paper! I applied the film to the window with a spray bottle of water only, nice and wet. It's easy to position and remove bubbles. I was also concerned that it would look cheap or "flat" without the sun hitting it, but any light outdoors, even indirect, gives the prism effect. It becomes more pronounced the more sun is shining through it, and visibility also goes down as incoming light increases. So now, instead of an ugly view of the driveway and cars, I have a bank of 12 windows that give a "Van Gogh" effect....the colors and shapes outside behind the scattered prisms do show (green grass, light sky, dark pavement) but they are kind of abstract behind the prisms. I can still see what's going on outside if I stand right at the window, but if I step back from the window 3 or 4 feet, details are pretty well obscured except for colors and light/dark. At night looking into the lighted room, anything beyond that 3-4 ft. range is not distinguishable. So UV protection and some measure of privacy both daytime and nighttime. If you need substantial heat reduction, you can also use solar film made for the outside of the window, though I don't know how much that would cut down on the prism effect for this product. For the record, I stripped the old degraded solar film off the inside of most of the windows, but left a few that still look good. That didn't cause a significant difference in appearance between the windows. I am VERY pleased with the look and ease of use. And if I want to change it out, they will be off in minutes. Don't hesitate, this is a great product. Another reviewer suggested applying to both sides of windows if more privacy is needed. I don't know how it would hold up outside, but definitely a good suggestion for an interior window.

The film does well keeping sunlight out, it's easy to install but the film only stays on window for a day or two so I had to put two-sided tape framing the window in order for film to stay put. Quilty film but there's not much color at all, will not purchase again, film I've bought from Home depot stayed on my window for years until I took it down and put this up. Do I think it's worth it? No. Edit.... Tried using film again and realized that it has a backing on it how dumb of me, the backing is so tight against the film I didn't realize and that's what I get for not reading the instructions. I must say the colors in the film is beautiful and it sticks well but I still used 2-sided tape on the corners so I'm going from 2 stars to 4.

We have a large window in our dining area that unfortunately looked out onto the holding yard of my husband's car projects...this window also gave off lots of light and HEAT in the summer. I had to do something because keeping our blinds closed all the time was really depressing.

I am SO PLEASED that I purchased the 3D Static window treatment! It is an affordable, easy to use way to beautify an otherwise unsightly view (yes, Dear, I know your projects are not unsightly to you - I prefer what they look like afterward!). Here is my experience:

1. Cutting the item to size was easy. Next time, I will keep an exacto-knife or straight edged razor for a more tidy trim.

2. Application with water was new to me but once I got the hang of it, it really was easier than traditional adhesive backing - more forgiving during installation.

3. I found that the heat which normally comes from the window was indeed reduced noticeably as I worked on this project during full daylight sun - which leads me to a very important note:

4. BE SURE TO PROTECT YOUR EYES IF YOU APPLY IN DIRECT SUN - WEAR SUNGLASSES!

The light is intense and it had not occurred to me until I got started that this may be an issue during installation. As they say: an ounce of prevention...!

I'm looking forward to my next window that is an unsightly window on our front door - bugs inside the 2 panes of glass are awful and I am wanting to cover them up until we can afford a new door!

5. To take out the air pockets that inevitably occur during the application process, I found a credit card to work great as it is easier to manipulate when the air bubbles are small. Be patient, step away from the window for a while and come back because it gets tricky to see all of them at the same time.

6. I applied this by myself - which truthfully was tricky, but do-able. I could have used another set of hands but was so determined to prove my DIY ability that I just went for it.

So, that is my adventure in window beautification. I really do recommend this product if you are considering taking on a quick, inexpensive fix to your window(s). The pictures I have attached are great but do not show the beautiful prisims the light creates on the window itself AND on the floor during the morning hours. Added BONUS!

If you want to create privacy with a door or a window, this is amazing. Easy to use once you get the hang of it. You did need to purchase a window film installation kit...It makes the job so much easier and faster. It is not permanent so it will not damage the glass, but it stays put. It does not peel off in corners or bubble with time. Gives a nice look to any room.

Used the film on the large front window of a showcase cabinet inside my store. Arrived packaged nicely in a tight roll like wrapping paper. Cleaned the window thoroughly first with vinegar and water. Easy to apply following the directions by wetting the window with soapy water (a mild Dawn solution) and smoothed down nicely. Did the trick to camouflage the contents of the cabinet however and most of it looks great. Trimmed easily to fit with a razor blade. However the edge which was rolled tightly on the 1” diameter cardboard roll will not stick down. It seems to have been rolled too tightly and the curl is permanent even though I trimmed over 12”of the length off. Tried everything I can think of to make the curl relax.. re-wet it several times, applied a little heat with warm damp rag, taped it down and let it dry. Pulled it back, recleaned the glass with alcohol and tried the soapy water again.. no go. It’s been a week and despite multiple efforts the whole end is not adhered at all. It’s taped down with clear packing tape but just wants to roll itself up. Bummer.

I think a lot of the negative reviews involving the product falling down after a day were by people who don't read directions or watch videos on how to apply it. It's very important to remove the clear backing, but getting a corner peeled up to get it off is kind of a pain. Even with nails. It would help if they made it a slightly different color than clear so you can tell it needs to come off. Someone suggested taping either side of the product. I didn't try that. I knew this would be the least private of the three I chose, and will be using it on the upper windows more for heat/ energy control (on my old single panes), than for privacy. See the pictures. This one is the second from bottom pane. The top pane is clear. The second pane is a product by Cotton Colors. The third is this stained glass effect from Cotton Colors. The lowest pane is squares by Rabbit Goo. Cotton Colors feels slightly thicker than the Rabbit Goo, although so far I haven't noticed a difference in quality otherwsie, except Cotton Colors was less costly. I would definitely not expect this to be private enough for anywhere you plan to be naked and not have others see. I have pics from inside and outside, cloudy day and at night with dim lights and overhead lights. The outdoor pictures are taken from about 15 foot away, and 10 feet below. You can see the outline of my sweater by varying degrees depending on the film's on each pane. Rabbit Goo lists the privacy degree in stars on their products, which appear very similar to other companies products like Cotton Colors. Sadly, even the 5/5 star Rabbit Goo squared privacy film still shows more detail than I'd like at night with the overhead light on, if I forget to draw the curtains. I still hope it's a keeper for the energy saving effects. It also is the prettiest one as far as rainbow effects even on a cloudy day.

Die Folie war wegen des großen Maßes und der erforderlichen Sorgfalt etwas schwierig zu zu schneiden. Man sollte sich dafür viel Zeit nehmen. Fenster ordentlich reinigen, etwas Waser an der Glasscheibe lassen, Folienunterfolie abziehen und ran ans Fenster. Wenn man genügend Wasser am Fensterglas dran läßt, geht es mit dem Verschieben an den gewollten Platz ziemlich einfach. Dann noch die Wasserblasen mit einem flachen Werkzeug wegschieben (ich habe einen Plastikpfannenwender benutzt). Die Folie hängt an einer Scheibe, die ordentlich Sonne abbekommt und weist bislang keine Macken auf. Es ist auch die richtige Menge an Licht, die noch durch kommt. Bei Dunkelheit, ein geschalteter Innenbeleuchtung, kann man von Außen nur schemenhaft erkennen, ob sich etwas im Raum bewegt, oder nicht. Wenn man mit der Nase an der Folie steht, kann man ein kleines bischen mehr erkennen. Nicht ganz billig, aber wirklich schön!

Wir haben unsere Erkerfenster bis in Höhe der Folienbreite beklebt, also 90 cm hoch. Als Rutschunterlage hat sich verdünnter Fensterreiniger (wie in der Beschreibung empfohlen) bewährt. Die Folie konnte wunderbar in die Ecken geschoben werden. Mit einem Abzieher fürs Badezimmer wurden die Blasen rausgezogen, eine 2. Person, welche die andere Seite der Folie am Platz hält, ist hier sehr hilfreich. Kleinere Blasen haben wir (wie beim Fensterputzen) mit einem Trockentuch nach außen gerieben. Am Ende haben wir weder von innen noch von außen Blasen gesehen.

Wenn die Sonne scheint, gibt es wunderschöne Lichtreflexe innen. Von außen gesehen sieht es aus, als wäre die Folie farbig. Von außen kann man nur noch Bewegung im Zimmer erkennen, man kann also ungestört am Esstisch sitzen :). Nach ca. drei Wochen hält die Folie auch immer noch bombenfest. Ich würde sie sofort wieder kaufen, unbedingte Kaufempfehlung!

Really great product! It was used to cover church windows, while we repaired our stained glass. Let in light but also gave us privacy. The only difficult part was finding the backing, to remove it.

Möglicherweise stelle ich mich zu dumm an. Aber egal was ich tue, diese Folie haftet völlig ungleichmäßig am Fenster und das sieht man total. Das Problem hatte ich mit anderen Fensterfolien nicht. Kommt wieder weg.
