Hello, I have a question, is it true that depression and anxiety are very different as in anxiety being more difficult to treat somehow...?

Hello, so I just started antidepressant I think. And I do not feel legitimate at all. It's like things have improved the first day and the next it's pure overwhelm. Poor housing conditions , feelings of loneliness and academic pressure and overcrowding with alcoholism in the family and a lack of professional help might all have contributed to that worsening the second day but anyhow I feel like maybe I was not depressed at all at the beginning even though I couldn't just manage to do or hope about anything. The biggest caveat too is I think i am the first person my mom is treating with antidepressants so I do not really know about conflicts of interests here. And about the legitimacy of me being put on this. But again the first Day it really helped

Hi. So sad and with anxiety. My husband crossed over to mild dementia and is overwhelming for me. I love him so. I’m afraid of what’s gonna be next. I have a Therapist and on medication and I just started a group for caregiving support. I felt this way ever since he started having memory problems about two years ago. It just doesn’t seem to get past this, yet. Although I’m not as totally bad off as I was at the beginning.

i'm 67 and 68 on October 9th, I was diagnosed with clinical depression (Moderate) while being married to my ex wife of one year marriage, she has manic depressive disorder from birth and we we're seeing the same psychiatrist for therapy and later medication management in Melbourne, Florida and have been on a number of antidepressant medicines before stopping with taking daily Bupropion XL 450mg and 25mg Trazadone for sleep aid, when i can i use ZzzQuil for sleep aid not as strong. Allthrough out my life. i had been in a happy event of some kind and didn't actually feel happy about it and put on a happy act anyway without thinking, not realizing until my 20's that i had an ailment such as this and needed to be on medication to focus and concentrate better and probably could have used that info in school to be better at studying and learning school assignments.

I woke up yesterday with a great attitude and a feeling I would get a lot done. Went for a walk, which is always a mood booster, especially just to greet people and get a smile and greeting in return. Just as I pulled into my carport, my neighbor called. I didn’t answer. I went inside, made a cup of coffee, then called her back. From her first word, my heart sank. She was using her Eyeore voice, you know, the “woe is me” donkey from Winnie the Pooh? I kept the conversation short and didn’t ask how she was feeling. She has some pain in her hands and one knee and keeps getting the run around from doctors, or so she tells me. We have an excellent orthopedic urgent care near us and I’ve offered to take her many times. She refuses to go. There are many other things, but I don’t want to dwell on her issues here. She is the reason I wrote that post about learning to put myself first without feeling guilty. I’ve had to do a lot of research on how to handle the situation and how to talk to her. I’m getting better each day at doing what I’ve learned. The problem I have is it’s harder to not feel guilty than I thought. It’s harder to erase 70 years of being a certain way than I thought. I pray for strength.

Thanks to those who hurt me, you made me a stronger person. Thanks to those who loved me, you made my heart bigger. Thanks to those who cared, you made me feel important. Thanks to those who showed concern, you let me know that you care. Thanks to those who left, you showed me that not everything is forever. Thanks to those who stayed, you showed me the true meaning of friendship. Thanks to those who entered my life, you helped me become the person I am today. - unknown

NOTE TO SELF “What is my purpose in life?” I asked the void. “What if I told you you fulfilled it when you took an extra hour to talk to that kid about his life.” said the voice. “Or when you paid for that young couple in the restaurant or when you saved that dog in traffic. Or when you tied your father’s shoes for him.” “Your problem is that you equate your purpose with goal-based achievement. The Universe isn’t interested in your achievements . . . just your heart. When you choose to act out of kindness, compassion, and love, you are already aligned with your true purpose. No need to look any further.”

I really feel worthless today! I thought I was getting better sleep and rest. It could be from yesterday’s stress, I suppose. I can’t even do my dishes. Going to lay down and see if that will help. Will I ever be any better? It is rather doubtful. I hope that psychiatrist will give me an appointment to see him next week. I hope it will turn out to be a plus for me and not a minus. Can’t even enjoy the few years that I could possibly have left.

I am 78 y/o. I was officially diagnosed 20 years ago with having depression and 10 years ago anxiety was added. I'm happy with the treatment I received from the 2 psychiatrists I had, (both now passed). I know that there is no "cure" for me, but with their help and medication, (lexapro) my life vastly improved. The VA is now providing me with a wonderful new doctor. So hopefully I'll just continue to grow.
