"The family I am currently walking with through Bridge of Hope blesses me far more than I could ever bless them. They are inspiring and bring me so much joy. I am truly grateful to be a part of their lives. My Bridge of Hope experience has been life giving, and I am deeply honored to be involved."
Orpha Longenecker, Neighboring Volunteer
“What surprised me most about my relationship with my Neighboring Volunteers was how genuine and consistent they were. I never expected people who began as strangers to care so deeply or show up in such meaningful ways. They didn’t just help—they truly listened, encouraged me, and made me feel seen and supported. That kind of connection was something I didn’t know I needed until I experienced it.”
Neighboring Family Facing Homelessness
"It was wonderful to see the support that Bridge of Hope is able to offer to their clients. As a landlord, I was impressed with the way that they go far beyond financial assistance, and offer training and encouragement to empower the clients in many areas of life."
Bridge of Hope Landlord Partner
“There were so many times when we were down and didn’t think we had hope. But Bridge of Hope gave us hope because people showed up—our volunteers were always there, and that meant everything to my family."
Jasir, Son of a Bridge of Hope Alumna

When Moses Chi, Executive Pastor at Trinity Assembly of God in West Chester, PA, first heard about Bridge of Hope, the invitation to become involved resonated with his faith.Moses shared, “The reason why I said ‘yes’ to helping is because Jesus tells me to minister to the vulnerable and the marginalized people in our society, the least of these.”“I believe that we were able to plant a seed in the family’s heart,” he shared. “I pray that the love of Jesus that they experienced through us will remain in their memory.”For Moses and the volunteers at Trinity Assembly of God, neighboring was an opportunity to put faith into action, not by having all the answers, but by continuing to show up with compassion, patience and prayer.Read more in our blog post: bridgeofhopeinc.org/stories/planting-seeds-of-hope/ (linked in bio)

How typical is it to be both employed and homeless? As an educator, Rabi dedicated her career to helping students succeed. But everything changed last fall when she was seriously injured at work. In an instant, the future she had carefully planned began to unravel. Her injury left her unable to work, without income, and with limited mobility. As she juggled medical appointments and raising her son, she realized that keeping a roof over their heads was something she could no longer manage alone. Some moms like Rabi face homelessness after an injury. Others spiral into homelessness after a house fire, while working multiple low-wage jobs, or when caring for a seriously ill child.More and more working families are facing homelessness despite being employed. Rising housing costs and a shortage of affordable housing mean that even one unexpected setback can put a family at risk. In fact, family homelessness increased by 39% in a single year, recently.Read more in our most recent blog post: bridgeofhopeinc.org/stories

We`d like to welcome and also wish a Happy Birthday to Joel Wood, Church Engagement and Housing Specialist for Bridge of Hope Lancaster! 🎉He holds an M.Div. and a B.A. in Student Ministries and brings more than 25 years of pastoral ministry experience helping equip the local church to be a place where people are known, loved, and supported. Earlier in his ministry, Joel spent fourteen years serving in an inner-city church, developing a deep passion for walking alongside individuals and families facing significant challenges. Bridge of Hope’s neighboring model resonates deeply with Joel because he believes lasting transformation happens when people experience both practical support and authentic community. He is grateful for the opportunity to help churches discover their unique role in ending family homelessness by walking alongside families with compassion, dignity, and hope. Welcome, Joel, and Happy Birthday!
