Global Scoreboard

A Reddit app for moderators of soccer subreddits. Pick the teams your community cares about, and the app turns your subreddit into a live scoreboard with auto-generated match threads for every game those teams play.

Built and maintained by a mod, for mods.

What it does for your subreddit

  • One pinned scoreboard post that shows every upcoming, live, and recent game for the teams you follow.
  • Automatic match threads created before kickoff for every match, with live scores, events, stats, lineups, and benches.
  • No more sticky wars when several games kick off at once. Users tap any match card to open the thread for that game directly.
  • Optional pre-match and post-match threads for build-up and reaction, each with its own controls. Match cards show pills for every thread that exists, so users can hop between pre-match, live, and post-match discussion.
  • Community Predictions poll on each match thread before kickoff (Home Win / Draw / Away Win).
  • Predictions leaderboard: users earn points for correct calls, ranked on an all-time board. Optional Winner of the Week competition that resets each week and can hand the winner a user flair automatically.
  • Man of the Match voting on finished games.
  • Stat Leaders: a top-scorers / assists board for the competitions you follow.
  • Remind Me button so users can opt in to a Reddit message a few minutes before kickoff.
  • Interest-based threads (optional): only auto-create a match thread once enough users tap "Interested," so quiet games don't clutter the sub.
  • Auto-sticky lifecycle: hand the single pinned slot from the pre-match thread, to the live match thread, to the post-match thread automatically, all toggles you control. Optionally keep the scoreboard pinned whenever no match thread holds the slot, and auto-flair match threads by competition.
  • Optional World Cup tabs: group standings and a knockout bracket, right on the scoreboard.
  • Optional daily posts: a once-a-day World Cup post and/or a general daily post listing that day's matches with live scores, no threads, for an at-a-glance schedule. Each can auto-pin itself.
  • Spoiler protection: any viewer can hide scores across the scoreboard, or peek at a single match without spoiling the rest. Their choice is remembered.
  • Two languages: the whole interface is available in English and Spanish.
  • Make it yours: name the scoreboard post whatever you like, pick a Day / Night / System theme, choose a background wallpaper, and tune the Glass card style with an opacity slider.

Setting it up (for moderators)

Step 1: Install the app

From the Reddit Developer Tools or the app's listing, install Global Scoreboard on your subreddit. Only moderators can do this.

Step 2: Create the scoreboard post

Once installed:

  1. Go to your subreddit.
  2. Open the moderator menu (the three-dot menu on the subreddit page).
  3. Choose Create Team Watchlist Scoreboard.
  4. Give the post a name (for example "LigaMX Scoreboard"), then tap Create. Pin the post so your community can find it.

That's the only setup step. The post is the scoreboard. Each subreddit can have one active scoreboard at a time. If you try to create a second, the app offers to replace the existing one: tick the confirmation box and it deletes the old scoreboard (watchlist and settings included) and creates the new one in a single step.

Step 3: Add your teams

Open the scoreboard post and tap the Add Teams tab (only visible to moderators).

  • Use the search box to find a team by name.
  • Use the league dropdown to filter by competition, or to see only clubs or only national teams.
  • Tap a team to add it. Tap again to remove it.
  • Tap Save when you're done.

You can add up to 500 follows. Mix clubs, national teams, and whole competitions freely: every league and cup also offers an "(All Matches)" entry that follows the entire competition in one pick, so you can cover a whole league without adding each club.

Heads up: when you add a team, the app picks up that team's games across the competitions it plays in. So adding a club also pulls in its cup and continental fixtures. If you'd rather narrow things down, each thread type has its own competition filter in Settings.

This list is the single source of what your board covers. Removing a team or an "(All Matches)" competition stops new threads for it from the moment you save, including any that were already lined up to post.

Step 4: That's it

The app does the rest. In the window before kickoff for any team on your watchlist, it will:

  • Create a match-thread post for that game.
  • Keep its scores, events, stats, and lineups updated.
  • Show it on the scoreboard's Live / Upcoming tab.
  • Apply whatever sticky, lock, and pre/post-match options you've set.

The tabs (what your community sees)

The scoreboard post has these tabs (when there are more tabs than fit, arrows page through them, nothing scrolls):

  • Live / Upcoming: Live games first, then upcoming sorted by kickoff time. Tap a card to open the most relevant thread for that game. Pills at the bottom of each card link to the pre-match (blue), live match (green), and post-match (amber) threads when they exist. A small Hide / Show button in the bottom bar lets any viewer hide scores to avoid spoilers.
  • Recent: Finished games, most recent first, with the date under the score.
  • Leaderboard (optional): Predictions ranking. Shows the all-time board and, if Winner of the Week is on, the current week's standings and last week's winner.
  • Stat Leaders (optional): Top scorers and other stat leaders for the competitions your teams play in.
  • WC Table (optional): FIFA World Cup group standings, two groups per page with prev/next arrows.
  • WC Bracket (optional): the World Cup knockout bracket, one round at a time from the Round of 32 through the Final, with scores filling in as games are played.
  • Watchlist: The current list of teams. Read-only for regular users. Moderators can remove teams (with a confirm step) or clear the whole list.
  • Add Teams (mods only): Search and add teams to the watchlist.
  • Settings (mods only): All the controls described below.

Match-thread posts (the per-game ones) have their own tabs:

  • Summary: Key moments only (goals, red cards, subs, VAR, kickoff markers). Before kickoff this tab also shows the Community Predictions poll and the Remind Me button.
  • Match Feed: Full chronological feed of everything that happened.
  • Stats: Possession bar plus stat rows (shots, corners, saves, fouls, cards, and more), and the match's standout performers.
  • Lineup: Both teams on a single pitch view with jersey numbers, names, and formations, positioned to match the official lineups, with the substitutes listed below.
  • Last 5: Each team's last 5 matches with results, crests, scores, and dates, plus a head-to-head history between the two sides.
  • Table: The league standings for that competition. Shows a clear message for friendlies or knockout rounds where there is no table.
  • Channels: Where to watch. TV and streaming broadcasters grouped by country, shown only for the countries where listings are available.
  • Man of the Match (once live or finished): Vote for the standout player.
  • Scoreboard: Takes you back to the main scoreboard post.

A Hide / Show button sits beside the score on every match thread. It hides that match's score and goal events (the Summary and Match Feed tabs blur to a spoiler-free note). This is per-viewer and only affects that one post.

Spoiler protection (for everyone)

Any viewer, mod or not, can hide scores so they don't get spoiled:

  • The Hide / Show button on the scoreboard (and the daily World Cup post) turns every score into ?-?. Your choice is remembered for next time.
  • On a match thread, a per-match button hides just that match's score and its goal events. If you've hidden scores globally, match threads open hidden too. Revealing one match is temporary and never un-hides anything else, it resets when you leave the post.

The Settings tab (mods only)

Flip through the pages with the prev/next buttons. Tap Save after making changes.

Thread creation

  • Lead time before kickoff: When the live match thread is created. Default 30 minutes.
  • Default comment sort: New, Old, Top, Best, or Controversial. Applied to every thread automatically so users don't have to switch.
  • Title template: How thread titles read. Supports {home}, {away}, {competition}, and {date}. The competition is shown as its clean league name. A Default button restores the stock template.
  • Allowed competitions: live threads: Limit live match threads to specific competitions, with a search box to find them fast. This controls threads only. Your scoreboard still shows every team and competition on your watchlist. Empty means all.

Live behavior

  • Create match threads: Master switch for per-match threads. Turn it off to run the whole day from a single daily post instead.
  • Auto-sticky live match threads: Pins the thread when the match goes live, unpins at full time.
  • Keep the scoreboard pinned: Re-pins the main scoreboard post whenever no match thread is pinned, so the board returns to the top of the sub between games.
  • Lock thread at full time: Locks the live thread when the game ends.
  • Auto-flair match threads: Applies your subreddit's post flair whose text matches the competition (for example a "World Cup" flair). Needs matching post-flair templates set up on your sub; does nothing otherwise.

Pre-match thread

  • Create separate pre-match thread: Opens a discussion thread ahead of kickoff.
  • Pre-match thread lead: How far ahead to open it, in minutes, hours, or days (up to 7 days), so you can open a thread well ahead of a big match.
  • Auto-sticky pre-match thread: Pins it when created, then unpins it automatically once the live match thread goes up.
  • Lock pre-match thread at kickoff: Locks the pre-match thread once the live thread is created.
  • Allowed competitions: pre-match threads: Limit pre-match threads to specific competitions. Empty means all.

Post-match thread

  • Create separate post-match thread: Opens a fresh discussion thread after full time.
  • Post-match thread delay: How many minutes after full time to wait. Default 5.
  • Auto-sticky post-match thread: Pins it when created and unpins the match thread in its favor.
  • Keep post-match thread stickied (days): How long it stays pinned. 0 means until you unpin it or the next match's threads take the slot.
  • Allowed competitions: post-match threads: Limit post-match threads to specific competitions. Empty means all.

The three auto-sticky toggles share a single pinned slot, so only ever one of the app's threads is pinned at a time, handing off pre-match to live to post-match automatically.

Scoreboard

  • Show countdown timer: A days / hours / minutes / seconds countdown to the next match on the Live / Upcoming tab.
  • Stat Leaders tab: Show or hide the top-scorers board on the scoreboard.
  • Show past matches (days): How far back the scoreboard reaches. Default 7.
  • Show future matches (days): How far ahead. Default 30.
  • Max matches shown: A cap for busy watchlists.
  • Danger zone: Delete this scoreboard. Clears the saved watchlist and settings first, then removes the post. This cannot be undone.

World Cup

  • Show WC Table tab: Adds the group standings tab to the scoreboard.
  • Show WC Bracket tab: Adds the knockout bracket tab. Each toggle is independent.

World Cup daily post

  • Auto-post daily World Cup matches: Creates one post per day listing that day's World Cup fixtures as score cards (no threads), with live scores that auto-update.
  • Post at (hour) and Timezone: When the daily post goes up, in the timezone you choose.
  • Post title: Name the daily post however you like, with a {date} placeholder and a Default button.
  • Delete the post after its day passes: Optionally removes each daily post once its day is over.
  • Auto-sticky the daily post: Pins each day's post to the top sticky slot when created and unpins the previous day's. Match threads use the other sticky slot, so both can be pinned at once.

Daily match post

The same idea as the World Cup daily post, but for the teams on your own watchlist rather than the World Cup. Run it on its own (with per-match threads off) to cover a whole day in one place, or alongside threads.

  • Auto-post a daily match post: One post per day listing that day's matches from your scoreboard as score cards.
  • Post at (hour) and Timezone, Post title, Delete the post after its day passes, and Auto-sticky the daily post: same controls as above.

Design

  • Theme: System (follows each viewer's own light or dark setting), Day (always light), or Night (always dark). Your choice applies to everyone viewing the board.
  • Language / Idioma: Switch the whole interface between English and Spanish.

Background

  • Pick a wallpaper shown behind the scoreboard and match threads: stadiums, pitches, and team or league art. Browse the grid with prev/next, or choose None.

Card style

  • Glass (default): translucent panels that let the background show through, with an opacity slider from see-through to solid.
  • Classic: solid cards.

Leaderboard

  • Show Leaderboard tab: Ranks users by points from correct match predictions (3 per correct result).
  • Winner of the Week: Runs a weekly competition alongside the all-time board, resetting and crowning a winner each week.
  • Weekly reset day: The day the weekly board clears and crowns its winner.
  • Give the winner a user flair and Winner flair text: Optionally assign a flair to each week's winner (clearing it from the previous one). Your sub needs user flair enabled.
  • Reset leaderboard: Permanently clears all points for everyone on this board. Cannot be undone.

Interest based posts

  • Interest-based match posts: When on, a match thread is only auto-created once enough users tap the Interested button on that match card.
  • Interest threshold: How many taps are needed to queue a thread.

App health (mods only)

A read-only diagnostics page: shows whether the live data sources are reachable, when background updates last ran, and the most recent error if something went wrong. Handy when a thread or score didn't update as expected.

Supported competitions

The app supports 140+ competitions worldwide, including:

  • The big European leagues: Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Primeira Liga, Eredivisie, and the rest of Europe top to bottom.
  • The Americas: MLS, NWSL, USL, Liga MX, Liga de Expansión MX, Canadian Premier League, Canadian Championship, Northern Super League, Brasileirão, Argentine Primera, and more.
  • Asia and beyond: J League, K League 1 and 2, Saudi Pro League, A-League, and many others.
  • Continental and global cups: UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, Copa Libertadores, FIFA World Cup, Club World Cup, continental championships, and qualifiers.
  • National teams: men's and women's internationals, friendlies, Gold Cup, Euros, Copa America, and women's tournaments.
  • Youth and Olympic: Olympic tournaments, U-17 and U-20 World Cups, U-21 friendlies, and more.

National, women's, and youth teams are clearly labeled so they don't get confused with the senior men's team. Women's teams show a (W) tag and youth teams show their age group, for example United States, United States (W), United States (U20).

If a league you want isn't here, send a message and I'll look at adding it.

FAQ

Who can edit the watchlist or settings?

Only subreddit moderators. Regular users can view everything, vote in predictions, and request reminders, but they can't change which teams are tracked or how the app behaves.

A team I added doesn't show any games. Why?

Two common reasons: the team has no scheduled games within your past or future window, or the live data doesn't list that team's fixtures right now. Try widening the date window in Settings, Scoreboard, and check the team's name in the Watchlist tab.

The match thread didn't get created. What happened?

Threads become eligible inside the lead window set in Settings, Thread creation. If the app was just installed or updated, the thread is created on the next check (which runs every few minutes). If a competition filter excludes the match, the thread is intentionally skipped.

A match thread got created by accident. Can I remove just that one?

Yes. On the thread's post, open the moderator menu and choose Delete this match thread. It removes only that post (and stops the app from recreating it), leaving your scoreboard and watchlist untouched.

I want to change the watchlist mid-season. Will it break existing threads?

No. Removing a team or a whole competition only stops future threads, and it takes effect as soon as you tap Save. Any game that already has a thread finishes normally: the thread stays live, keeps updating, and still gets its post-match thread.

Can I start over?

Yes. Use Clear all on the Watchlist tab to empty the list, or Delete this scoreboard in Settings to remove the post and start fresh with a new one. You can also just create a new scoreboard from the moderator menu and confirm the replacement when prompted.

Why do the lineups or scores sometimes differ from elsewhere?

Live data can be delayed, incomplete, or briefly unavailable, especially during busy tournament weeks. The app updates frequently and fills in gaps when it can.

Why doesn't the Channels tab show my country?

It only lists countries where broadcast data is available, which is limited for some competitions and regions. More coverage is planned.

Is the app affiliated with Reddit or any league?

No. Global Scoreboard is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Reddit, any league, federation, club, team, or player.

Where do I send feedback or bug reports?

Send a Reddit message to the app maintainer. If you're a mod testing it on your sub, feel free to point your community at me too. I read everything and ship fixes quickly.

Privacy and terms

  • Privacy policy
  • Terms of use
  • The app stores moderator-selected teams, per-board settings, prediction tallies (one vote per user), and reminder sign-ups until they fire. It never sells personal data.

A note from the developer

I'm a moderator on r/LigaMX, going on five years now. I built this app because I needed it for my own subreddit. Modding match days is exhausting when several games run at once, and I wanted something that could do most of the heavy lifting so the community gets a smooth experience without burning out the mod team.

This is a project I plan to keep working on for a long time. If you have a feature request, a competition you want supported, or feedback on what's annoying, please reach out. It only gets better with input from other mod teams using it.

Thanks for trying it.
