Coming Soon: Cosmic Origins
What’s it like to live on Mars? Photographer, analog astronaut, and Duke alumna Cassandra Klos explores that question in a new exhibition of photographs, spacesuits, artifacts, and simulated mission materials. Cosmic Origins invites visitors to consider humanity's relationship to space and the possibility of life beyond Earth.
Meet Klos at the opening reception on Oct. 22 and come back for a free family event on Oct. 24 featuring hands-on activities.
Cosmic Origins will be on view at CDS Oct. 22, 2026 – Jan. 4, 2027.

Continuing Education Spotlight
One of our upcoming fall courses:
Led by photographer Cornell Watson, this six-week course explores how composition can transform a fleeting moment into a photograph that makes us stop and stare. Through real-world examples, live demonstrations, guided practice, and feedback, participants will build a strong foundation for creating photographs with greater intention and impact.
Wednesdays, Oct. 28 – Dec. 9, 2026, 6 – 8 p.m. ET (in person)
