What do I need and what should I do to see results?

Before we talk about this, I want to invite you to consider the fact that everything you've struggled with when it comes to your weight is not just indicative of how your body works - but how your BRAIN works, as well. Obesity is a chronic, neurobiological condition. This medication is going to FINALLY level the playing field for you by targeting the receptors in both your gut AND your brain. Keep it simple and give yourself grace, but be excited for the fact that this time - you WON'T have to struggle. The effort you put in will finally make a difference. Eat in a deficit. Know your macros - and hit them (check my Resources!) Drink water. Move your body. That's all you need to do - and you CAN do it. This medication is going to change your life. I'm so excited for you.

When will I see results?

It's really important to remember that each body and every person's response to these medications is different. Before weight loss shows up, GLP-1s often: - Reduce insulin resistance - Improve blood sugar stability - Lower inflammation - Regulate hunger hormones (ghrelin & leptin) Many slow responders see results after reaching a therapeutic dose, not during early starter doses. Factors that can slow visible results: - History of chronic dieting - PCOS, insulin resistance, thyroid issues - High cortisol / stress load - Perimenopause or menopause

How do I know which GLP1 is right for me?

There is no “better” medication, only what’s best for you. Both medications help regulate appetite, blood sugar, and food noise, but they work slightly differently. Semaglutide targets the GLP-1 pathway and is often a great option for patients looking for steady appetite control and gradual weight loss. Tirzepatide works on both GLP-1 and GIP pathways, which may provide stronger appetite suppression and metabolic effects for some individuals. You can also always start on Semaglutide & then consider switching to Tirzepatide, if needed.

When should I do my injection?

I recommend starting your GLP1 on Friday (or whenever your "Friday" is), before bed, so that you can sleep through any side effects and have all weekend to rest, if needed. Once you know how your body responds to the medication, you can change times if you want! I started on a Friday and now I dose on Sunday mornings!

I'm worried about losing my hair - what can I do?

Hair loss is typically associated with the weight loss itself, not the GLP1 medication. This condition is called Telogen Effluvium (TE), and it can happen after any major stress on the body, including: • Significant weight loss • Surgery • Childbirth • Severe illness • Emotional stress • Nutritional deficiencies The medication isn't causing your hair to fall out. The rapid changes happening inside your body during weight loss can trigger the shedding process. Hair naturally grows in cycles. At any given time, most of your hair is actively growing, while a smaller percentage is resting before it sheds. With Telogen Effluvium, a larger than normal number of hairs get pushed into the resting phase all at once. Prioritize protein, drink lots of water, try pumpkin seed oil. It's temporary!!!

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is a hormone made of amino acids that helps control blood sugar and hunger. It is produced in the gut and certain brain neurons in response to food intake. GLP-1 acts by binding to GLP-1 receptors, which are found mainly on pancreatic beta cells but also in other tissues including parts of the brain. When GLP-1 binds to its receptors in the pancreas, it stimulates the release of insulin when blood sugar is high. At the same time, it suppresses the release of glucagon, a hormone that raises blood sugar by signaling the liver to release glucose. This helps lower blood sugar levels after eating. GLP-1 also slows stomach emptying and signals the brain to reduce appetite, contributing to feelings of fullness and helping regulate food intake

NAD+ is a coenzyme found in all living cells. The impact of NAD+ incudes: - improved ATP production - improved metabolic health - protection against neurodegenerative diseases - improved mental clarity - reduced oxidative stress WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: ATP is your body's currency. When your body breaks down food (carbs, fats, protein), that energy doesn't go directly into powering your cells. It gets converted into ATP first. Then, when a cell needs energy, it breaks off one phosphate group from ATP, releasing a burst of energy and leaving ADP (adenosine diphosphate). That ADP gets recharged back into ATP, and the cycle continues constantly. NAD+ levels naturally decline with age, which leads to reduced energy and increased oxidative stress.

Glutathione is a tripeptide produced by the liver composed of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. The impact of Glutathione: - reduces oxidative stress - promotes DNA repair and cellular regeneration - promotes liver function - strengthens immune defenses Glutathione binds directly to toxins, making them water-soluble so they can be excreted in bile or urine — but that's only part of its job. The liver generates enormous oxidative stress just doing its work, and glutathione is the primary antioxidant standing between that stress and actual cell damage. In fatty liver conditions, glutathione depletion is consistently observed, and it's that depletion — not just the fat itself — that drives progression from simple accumulation to inflammation and fibrosis.

Lipo-C is a combination of lipotropic agents, designed to support fat metabolism, liver function, and overall metabolic health. It typically contains a blend of these lipotropic compounds: Methionine - an amino acid that aids in the breakdown of dat and prevents fat accumulation in the liver Inositol - helps metabolize fat and cholesterol, supporting liver detoxification. Choline - prevents fat build-up L-Carnitine - helps the transport of fatty acids to be burned for energy Vitamin B12 - supports energy production and red blood cell formation. The impact of Lipo-C: - Fat loss - Liver health - Increased energy

Semaglutide vs. Tirzepatide

Semaglutide acts only as a GLP-1 receptor agonist, stimulating the single GLP-1 hormone to regulate blood sugar and reduce appetite. Tirzepatide, on the other hand, has a dual-action mechanism—it activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, providing enhanced effects on blood sugar control and appetite suppression. Clinical studies show tirzepatide often leads to greater average weight loss and more pronounced reductions in long-term blood sugar (HbA1c) than semaglutide. While gastrointestinal side effects like nausea can occur with both medications, tirzepatide tends to cause fewer GI symptoms despite more significant weight loss results

How much weight can I expect to lose?

Weight loss outcomes can differ based on factors such as your initial weight, medical conditions, lifestyle adjustments, and the specific weight loss medication used. Numerous individuals who have taken GLP-1 medications for a duration of 68 weeks or more have reported achieving weight reductions of up to 15% from their initial body weight, when combined with healthy lifestyle choices. However, newer medications that are both GLP-1 and GIP agonists have shown an average weight reduction of 20%.

Who qualifies for weight loss medications?

While prescriptions for weight loss medication cannot be guaranteed for every patient, if you are 18 years of age or older and meet specific criteria such as weight and certain associated health conditions, your healthcare provider may consider you eligible for a prescription. Generally speaking, those who qualify are: individuals with overweight (BMI > 27) or obesity (BMI > 30) and those who are seeking maintenance therapy that have a BMI > 22 and if their current BMI < 27, have a history of obesity or overweight and have previously been on a GLP-1 within the past 12 months.

Who should avoid GLP1 medications for weightloss?

If you meet any of the following criteria, you may not be eligible for a prescription of GLP-1 weight loss medication: 1. Currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or actively trying to become pregnant 2. End-stage kidney disease (on or about to be on dialysis) 3. End-stage liver disease (cirrhosis) 4. Active eating disorder or history of eating disorder (bulimia, anorexia, etc.) 5. Current suicidal thoughts and/or prior suicidal attempt 6. Cancer (active diagnosis or treatment) 7. Current or history of pancreatitis 8. History of organ transplant on anti-rejection medication 9. Severe gastrointestinal condition (gastroparesis, inflammatory bowel disease) 10. Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 2
