Jeet Adani Interview | Peak-Hour Mumbai Flights To Be Moved To Navi Mumbai

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), opening on December 25, will initially be costlier for passengers due to a significantly higher user development fee (UDF) compared to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Domestic and international flyers will pay several hundred rupees more per ticket at NMIA, though the Adani Group says the difference will be short-term. In an interview, Jeet Adani said work is underway on a unified tariff for both airports, with in-principle approval from the regulator. To ease congestion at Mumbai’s capacity-constrained single-runway airport, a few peak-hour flights may be shifted to Navi Mumbai. NMIA will start with limited operations before going 24/7 by February and launching international flights in March, while long-term plans include expanding NMIA, rebuilding Mumbai’s Terminal 1 after 2030, and investing heavily in airports and hotels across India.
