I initially bought two of these USB-C/USB-A dual thumb drives to use as backups for my data. I like them because they are compact, reliable, fast, and very convenient. I like that it's easy to carry around in my purse since it's so small. Also, my laptop has a USB-C port and two USB-A ports, so I really like the flexibility that I can use this thumb drive in any of those.

Everything was going along fine using these for my regular data backups until....I put one of these thumb drives in my pocket and forgot about it, and sent it through the clothes washer and also put it into the dryer and "dried" it. I heard the clacking around in the dryer and...there it was. And when I took it out of the dryer, it was HOT. At that point, I decided to immediately buy an identical replacement for that one, and not take a chance on continuing to use it. I didn't want to risk that the washed one would fail on me sooner or later, have shorter lifespan, or loose any data. After receiving the third one (the replacement) and doing my regular backup onto it, I then decided to try to the one that I inadvertently washed and dried and....it works perfectly with no loss of data. At least so far.

So for now, I have THREE of these and am keeping the washed one as an additional backup thumb drive.

I really like the convenience of these thumb drives, the dual USB-C/USB-A ends, the large amount of data that they hold, and the reliability. I don't recommend that you send them through the washer and dryer like I did, but if you do so, well, now you know that it will probably continue to work!

I recommend this thumb drive and am very happy with it!

I've owned this USB drive for over two years now and recently felt compelled to write a review. I accidentally left it in the pocket of my jeans and ran it through the washer and dryer. To my surprise, the drive survived and still works perfectly! Incredible!

This is an excellent storage solution on the go, and as someone with enough USB Type C and Type A devices, the convenience is a godsend that can't be matched by cables. Moreover, the SanDisk Memory Zone app is simple and works well, which surprised me because in the past I've thought SanDisk utilities were little help and annoying to use. I liked it so much and it was simple enough to use that I got one for my dad to use with his Android phone and laptop. I paid $22 for 128 GB, which is a good storage deal in 2019 IF all the specs listed are met...

HOWEVER this is where I'm sorely disappointed. The read speeds are near advertised and acceptable, but the write speeds are far slower at about less than a third of what's advertised. Moreover, the drive gets concerningly hot, particularly when it is being used in Type C mode. However, both read and write speeds are a touch faster in Type C mode as well and makes me call into question the buses used to interface with the memory, if the drive really is USB 3.1. When I plug it into my computer, the disk label reads 3.0, so I'm not sure whether they marketed the information or labeled it incorrectly. Moreover, there was a rumour that this drive is actually a micro SD card slotted into a dual adapter they've rigged up, which I could believe due to the sad write performance of the drive. Not in the mood to crack it open and break it to find out, but I definitely will once it fails.

SanDisk has a reputation and it kinda makes me sad to see a product miss the advertised marks this badly. As someone in tech, I keep an eye on the specs and rely on them to be true to the device which is why it frustrates me so much when a legitimate company makes mistakes and flat out lies like this. It makes me not want to give them money.

So why did I rate it 4 stars?

Because I'll be damned if this isn't the best flash drive I've owned, lies and all. I've been waiting for this type of drive for a while and most reputed companies haven't put one of them out yet, probably because the technology isn't good enough to have consistent enough quality in speed, which apparently SanDisk isn't bothered with ;) The convenience and the huge amount of storage for $20 on a drive that will actually work on all of my devices at a decent pace is too much of an allure to pass up. As long as the file isn't too big and I use this as a casual, day to day drive as most people will, this will work well enough. Moreover, the app is so dead simple and convenient for even the tech illiterate to use. May still want to attach to a cable for those 4K videos though.

Speeds in my pictures were collected using CrystalDiskMark. Faster speeds collected through USB-C Thunderbolt interface on same machine as the USB-A test, run on 3.1.

First off -- I bought the 256gb version of this in 2024 for $25. To see that the price has since more than doubled is so, so sad. HOWEVER. I'm an overworked grad student -- to say my life is contained in this drive is an understatement. I recently kept this usb in my jean pocket after work and unsuspectingly threw those jeans in the washer. When I realized what I had done, the wash cycle had already finished. I really thought years of data is gone. I plugged the drive in and, lo and behold, MY DATA REMAINED INTACT!!! pretty much uncorrupted.

Structurally speaking, I like that neither ends of this dual-compatible drive is completely exposed during storage, thanks to the slider feature. The only downside, and my persistent complaint, is that the USB-C end likes to wiggle up and down as time goes by when protruded, resulting in the inability for the usb-c end to protrude and therefore temporarily unusable. To fix this I need to use a pen or something to stick inside and forcefully align the stuck end back before the slider functions bidirectionally again. It all seems like unnecessary contact with the data-transferring interface of this product and could lead to increased wear and tear down the line. For now, it's just an annoyance. As long as my data remains intact, and it did (through an ENTIRE wash cycle !!!! ), I'm more than happy with it.

I’ve owned this Sandisk for almost seven years now, and it has been working flawlessly. It comes with both USB-A and USB-C adapters built in, which is a great feature.

I highly recommend this product.

I bought this a while ago but I'm going through my purchases and wanted to leave a review for this item. I'm assuming most people know more than I do about these drives. I wouldn't buy one that was a well known brand. SanDisk has great support and a great app for managing the storage. It was exactly what I needed and does exactly what I wanted. I wanted something I could use for my phone and this worked perfectly. I would purchase another one when needed.

Nice price, good quality

The USB drive is small, has two sided male ports (USB A and USB C) which can slide out of the USB casing.

Note: USB A is the general keyboard and mouse USB connector and USB C is apple's charging cable connector which now a days is common in most smartphones.

The USB drive becomes hot when being used on USB C port for large transfers and is common. It can be plugged into mobile phones which has C type charging cable. The actual storage that you would get would be 114 GB. It would never be 128 GB as the rest is occupied by the drivers to run the USB drive. The drive supports exFAT (default) and NTFS file systems only.

The actual transfer rate depends on a lot of factors like the type and generation of USB connector, the type of storage, processor, motherboard, etc.

Transfer rates are good. I've tested it and shared the results below. The transfer rates may have gone down to 20 MBps in case of 50 MBps for HDD. The 600 MBps mark for HDD (3) went down to 80 MBps and remained constant.

1. USB A 2.0 (copying to and from SATA HDD) - maximum transfer rate up to 16 MBps

2. USB A 2.0 (Coping to and from NVME or SATA SSD) - maximum transfer rate up to 200 MBps

3. USB A 3.0 (Copying to and from SATA HDD) - maximum transfer rate up to 600 MBps 20 MBps

4. USB A 3.0 (Copying to and from NVME SSD) - maximum transfer rate up to 600 MBps and 50 MBps respectively

5. USB C 3.2 (Copying to and from SATA HDD) - maximum transfer rate up to 100 MBps and 50 MBbps respectively

6. USB C 3.2 (Copying to and from NVME SSD) - maximum transfer rate up to 130 MBps and 50 MBps respectively

Gostei da compra. Produto original.
