Perfect Addition to My Maintenance Bike

Perfect Addition to My Maintenance Bike
I'm very happy with this addition to my maintenance bike - yes this 2012 Trek Marlin SS is my old bike that I know back full of gear i use to maintain trails. This pouch is perfect for holding my phone (making it very easy track my time and location) and it's particularly great for packing a tiny first aid kit. I've also packed a bag of trail mix and energy beans. There is plenty of velcro so securing it to the bike was painless. Snip away the excess and it's a clean install. It seems waterproof enough but can't say that I've been caught in the rain with this installed yet. Overall, very happy with the product.

I'm very happy with this bag. I'm able to fit everything I need in it. Other reviewers mention that the phone can overheat it in and that is true for me. I'm in the Phoenix area and right now it's over 90 degrees for every ride I take. The first time I went out I had an overheating problem. The yellow cover helps a bit, but in my climate it's going to overheat no matter what I do. To get around this I place a freezer pack under my phone (like the kind you put in a kids lunchbox). It works great to keep my phone cool and there is still plenty of room in the bag.

    I like it

The bag feels like good quality. The screen cover doesn’t interfere at all with my phone which was one of the things I had worried about. I did wax the zipper however as it is really stiff. After that it slides really well. If you don’t know how to do that an easy was is to take a tea light and gently rub the zipper against the candle. There should only be a small amount on the zipper. Next you just have to open and close the zipper a few times and it should work. If you get too much wax on it you can just rub it off it won’t hurt the fabric at all. I have not strapped it to my bike yet so I can’t tell you about the fit to the bike but it does have 3 points of Velcro. 2 on the underside to strap to the main part of the frame and one alone the front to strap to the handlebars.

On the inside there is a thick Velcro strap that holds your phone to the top of the bag. The strap will not cover the whole phone. There is some space at the top and bottom of the phone so it should get some air to not overheat. I have an iPhone 13 with the mag wallet on it and it fits fine with plenty of space. So if you have a thick phone maybe because of a case on the phone will fit fine. There is also a very small flat net pouch on the inside side wall. It might be good to put a card or a small amount of money in it but that’s about it.

I did buy it when it was on sale but unless something dramatic happens it would be well worth the full price.

This is a great little bag

Let's get the great things out first.

The bag fits well. It has three Velcro straps, one around the stem and two around the frame. The first frame one is large enough to fit most frames and same with the second.

You can use your phone through the case and it even fits with my charging cable in with my battery in the bag. I like this better than a phone mount because it won't move over bumps. The phone is secured with quality Velcro flaps. Depending on cases, you can use it with a case.

Just big enough to fit essentials, ie phone, battery, multi-tool, allen keys or just a extra tube.

    The downside:

Zippers are a little hard to move. I thought it was because it sealed well because the bag says waterproof.

The only thing that feels cheap are the Velcro straps for around the frame, but are good enough cause this wouldn't be a bag I would take on and off much.

Access to the phone's buttons is a little difficult.

Now this is only a down side because of my bike since I have a xs frame. When I am stopped and standing still, the bag is right up against me.

Overall, this is a great little bag to carry the essentials and bigger than just a seat bag. It also is great because it doesn't take up any room on my handlebars. I do recommend this bag, although it's better for bigger frames.

There was no issue installing it and riding my bike with it. The storage area looks small but actually fit everything I wanted; my keys, wallet, backup battery, and small snacks. The touchpad area was ok, even though I didn't need to use it while riding since my Bluetooth headset did more of the work. It is definitely waterproof and don't take much space.

Phone overheats after 20 minute ride
Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2019
Brief content visible, double tap to read full content.
Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

This bag is easy to connect and disconnect to a bike, the touchscreen capability is great, and the storage capacity is generous. I have not tested the water resistance feature although the bag does come with a highlighter yellow cover that should protect it from rain. I purchased this so that I could use my phone for navigation however and that feature of the bag is lacking. On a not-so-hot early Fall day I went on a 20 minute bike ride using my phone as navigation in the bike bag. When I arrived at my destination I noticed that my phone was trying to alert me that it was overheated and some functionality was lost until the phone cooled down. I was concerned but put my phone in my backpack and moved on. On the bike ride back I used my husband's iPhone instead to navigate us home but his phone completely stopped working on the ride back because it had overheated. The main function of this bag is to allow you to use your phone in the clear pocket with touch screen capabilities but this one feature does not perform well. I plan to only use the navigation when it's cooler outside. During summer bike rides or when the air temp is ~70s or higher, I'll just have to plan my route before hitting the rode.

If you are wanting to use this just as a bag, and not the phone navigation aspect, this is great. Placing it on top of your handlebars rather than on the bike bar itself keeps the bag out of your way. Originally I had positioned the bag on the bike bar/frame and my legs would hit the bag as I pedaled. You can reposition the bag wherever you want on your bike really, as the bag comes with 3 velcro straps that make repositioning very easy.

Hope this helps. Good idea with a large defect.

I have been religiously riding my bike at least 5 days a week. Whether you’re going on a causal stroll, or biking for exercise, this is a great and needed addition to your bike. I love that I have everything accessible to me while riding, and it fits so many items! The phone of course, I usually have all of my keys, some wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and a few smaller items. I have had no issues with it moving or falling off of the bike, as it has three Velcro straps to hold it in place. I cannot comment on the waterproof-ness (I have not rode in the rain). But overall, this is a great product for a great price!

I received this Waterfly bike bag over a month ago and I use it everyday. I needed a good one because I don't drive and use my bike for all my transportation. This one delivers.

The velcro straps are versatile and hold bag secure. The zipper is sturdy . I love the sun visor for the touchscreen. I have had this bag in the rain and my gear stayed bone dry. The size for me is just right. The pictures I included some of the common items I carry inside plus my galaxy S8 fits with a little room to spare. In closing this is a amazing accessory for any cyclist.
