Amazing light bar for the budget
Amazing light bar for around the $40 range. I've had this for 11 months now and it's been great for lighting up my desk and the immediate vicinity. I have two widescreen monitors stacked and placed the light bar on the top monitor. Top of my monitor is about 27in/68.5cm long and the light bar is 17 3/4in/45cm. My desk is around 53in/135cm wide and I can say if you have a wider desk you'll be fine with this. I forgot how long the cable is so I can't say much about the length since it's tucked away. The two things I can talk about are the touch buttons and light bar itself. Touch buttons There are 3 buttons, brightness, color mode, power. The light can be dimmed down by holding it down to go down/up. However when it is dimmed I can hear low pitch noise that is annoying over time. Luckily I never had to dim. The color modes are cool, warm, and mix. I like cool when it's day time and warm for nights. Never used mixed. Power button powers it on/off. Just that unless you got a broken one. Only issue I have with the buttons is that, and it may just be me, sometimes I have to firmly touch them or hold the bar which cause it to move. Oh they also have a dim light when the bar is off. The power button is dimmer compared to the other two but visible to see in the dark. Light bar My top monitor is tilted toward and it is still staying there. Only fell when I was trying to get use to the buttons. Other than that the head has dropped over time so I have to adjust the angle. Minor thing that doesn't bother me but may others. Overall it's a good budget light bar that has served it's prupose. 3 touch buttons with 3 color modes, and stays on the monitor. Hope this helps someone and I should go to bed. This is a fantastic light bar (9.5/10). I would recommend it for anyone that does work on their desk--it's well worth $40.

Some background: I am a student so I do a lot of work on my computer and I do a lot of work/reading on my desk (usually at the same time and at weird hours). I have been using this lightbar with my PC with 2 monitors for about 3 weeks now.

All of the pictures were taken at night with all other lights off.

      Features:

The lightbar has 3 modes: Cool white, warm white, and a mix of both. Great for daytime and nighttime work.

The lightbar has a great range of brightness. It does get very dim, but very usable and easy on the eyes which is great for reading at night. On the other end, it gets bright enough to be nice to use during the day with the windows open and the lights on.

The brightness settings can be a little tricky to get just right as the brightness doesn't step per touch of the button, it changes as you hold the button.

The light does not shine in your eyes or glare on the monitor. The LEDs are angled towards you, keeping them off the screen, and the frame blocks the light from going past your desk.

It feels heavy, I believe it's made of metal and I think it'll last a while.

      Cons

The clamp mount seems a little tight, but there is no distortion on the screen so I'm not even sure if that would be a problem for anyone with a decent bezel. I currently have it on an ASUS VN247H-P 23.6" monitor.

The lightbar is fairly tall and I like to keep my camera for zoom on top of the monitor the lightbar is on. This means that I have to put my camera on top of the lightbar and it does feel a little too high up during calls, but it is still very usable.

The lightbar doesn't turn off when I turn off my PC. I guess it still gets power but that's not a big deal.

Baseus Sent Me a Replacement Light

Original 1 Star Review: Do not buy this product if you value quality for your hard earned money and customer support for which there is none. I have owned the monitor lamp for less than a year and it will not stay on for more than a minute at a time. I have to repeatedly push the button to turn it back on which is so annoying and totally interrupts my work flow. Ascetically, I really like the lamp but looks only help you get in the door but can't keep you on the job. I realize sometimes things happen and QC can be lacking so I reached out to Baseus via email to see if they would either replace my lamp, fix it or send me my money back. Baseus has yet to respond to me even after providing them with all the information they required like purchase date, item number and Amazon purchase confirmation number etc... This is not good business and it will be their downfall. For now, I am left with a big black heavy paperweight...very disappointed!

Update (March 2022): Perhaps after reading my initial review about the lamp being a paperweight and no one from CS contacting me, Baseus finally reached out and made it right by sending me out a new desk light. The light is working as it should now. No flickering issues or solo shut offs. My previous lamp also worked fine for about 11 months so only time will tell hence the upgrade to a 4 star rating. As I previously mentioned, the desk light is beautiful , sleek and modern and it does a great job illuminating my desk area when I don't want to use the overhead lights. The only suggestion I would give to Baseus is redesign the lamp so that it fits more monitors with thicker screen frames. Oh, and get on QC's butts for letting the bad lamps slip through. Otherwise, I am very pleased that Baseus took ownership for their product's shortcomings and they were very polite throughout the replacement process. Thank you Hamy at Baseus!

I really liked this light bar when first got it and I thought it made a great addition to my desk set of because of the small footprint and the fact that it rests on top of the monitor . However I am pretty disappointed in the execution of this light bar because it does not stay in one spot, after a few minutes of readjusting the light bar in always droops down and the mechanism that holds it seems to be very loose. Overall the light that gives off is actually pretty nice and the controls are pretty easy to use. However this is all negated when you have to constantly readjust the light because it keeps drooping down pointing towards the monitor instead of towards the desk. I was really torn between this particular light bar and another more expensive but very popular light bar on Amazon. I ended up purchasing this one because it was significantly cheaper than the Ben Q light bar, however after this experience I am regretting this purchase and really wish I would have spent more for a higher quality product and less headaches. I would definitely not recommend this product because of this major design flaw. The only way I was able to get around this problem is by using some electrical tape on the back so that it holds the light bar in place. It seems to be working now over a few days but will see how this solution works in the long term. However, I don't think that buying a product should come with the caveat of having to engineer your own solution for manufacturer design flaws.

Update 03/16/22: Baseus customer support reached out to me a few months ago and they sent me a replacement for this monitor lamp. The new lamp works really well. I am not having the same issue as before (lamp unable to stay in place & drooping down). The new monitor lamp works just as well as my more expensive BenQ light bar. I wish all companies stood by their products like Baseus. If anything changes I will update my review as necessary. As of now, for the price, I would definitely recommend the Baseus monitor lightbar.

I had been looking for a solution to light the immediate space in front of my computer when I discovered monitor light bars. However the first ones I saw ran $100 which I didn't want to spend and I was concerned that the lesser expensive lights I found may not be quality items. But I read the reviews and decided on giving the Baseus lamp a go. When it arrived I was immediately impressed with the quality of packaging. I felt that was an indication that the manufacturer had pride in their product.

However at first I wasn't able to open the clamping device to mount it to the monitor. But I realized that it sat on my porch in extremely cold weather possibly tightening the dampened clamp. So I let it warm up a bit and held it in the palm of my hand and soon the clamp became movable. However once it was attached I wasn't able to rotate the light so it wouldn't shine in my eyes. That would have been a deal breaker. But a quick review of the manual and I saw it was the lamp could be rotated. Again, I figured the cold weather tightened the adjustments and upon a second attempt a few minutes later I could indeed rotate the light so it didn't shine into my eyes. So, just a heads up if you receive this lamp during cold weather.

The color of the light is adjustable as is the brightness, which can be fairly intense so I have mine set to a lower level. I'll experiment with color to to where it won't affect my color adjustments on my editing.

On my iMac, centering the light on the monitor blocks the monitor camera so that if you use the camera for Zooms you may wish to slide it to the side or remove it. Or perhaps you could light your face during a zoom with it. I haven't tried that.

Overall I'm very pleased with the Baseus lamp. After seeing this style of lamp at 3 times the price, I appreciate the quality of the product, its value and performance.

This is a great little lamp, especially for the money. It's bright and easy to use and place. The issue is that it relies on a fairly sturdy spring mechanism which places pressure on the back of the monitor and the SCREEN. This may only be an issue with "bezel-less" monitors. When placed at the top of the monitor, the front portion of the clip presses and the display and make a very noticeable "light bleed" effect which is very visible when dark images are diplayed. Maybe it's just me, but I really worry about that constant pressure on my display over an extended period of time and what it may do to it.

This is a really great product. It's not cheap plastic, or battery operated, or requiring some crazy mounting. That being said, my need for it was NOT for its stated purpose. I have a wall-mounted pachinko machine that sits 8" out from the wall, and I wanted something like an art light that could stick out far enough and cast light downward to illuminate it nicely. It's been impossible to find anything that would work.

There isn't any lip (like the top of a laptop screen) for this to grab onto, but I was able to use heavy-duty velcro to attach the back directly to the front of the game, so that the light was cast perfectly. We really liked the ability to select the light color and brightness to fit our mood, and it looks amazing. I'm fairly confident that the velcro will hold it in place securely, but if not, that isn't a strike against the quality of the light itself.

I did have one unexpected problem. After unpacking it, I grabbed a standard USB charger (one of those white, one-inch cubes from an older iPhone) and the light would not work. It would flash on for a second and that was it. I assumed it was because the light was still cold from being it the mailbox, or maybe it was broken, or maybe I just didn't understand how to turn on a light, but it turned out that the light requires more amperage than a standard old-style charger. I swapped out the charger for a newer (more powerful) one, and the light worked fine after that.

This light is a little expensive, but very solid and very well engineered. We love it.

This light is perfect for people who like to work in the dark or have a more complex lighting setup. It provides the perfect area of illumination. It's difficult to even tell where the light is coming from once it has been installed, so not intrusive at all. I also like the dimming function and the ability to change the light temp to fit your preferences. It is very well packaged and has a heft to it that would seem to indicate good build quality.

I use it on a 2015 iMac and have had no issues mounting it as other have mentioned. I have also tried it on a 32" curved monitor, and a 55" TV with similar results.

One thing of note, on my iMac it does cover the top half of the built-in camera; no biggie for me as I do not tend to use it. You could slide it over a few inches to uncover it but that would probably lead to an OCD induced coma for a lot of people that I know.

Over all, excellent product, exceeded my expectations, bought two more.

I was pleasantly surprised to unbox this and find it has all metal construction, I thought this would be plastic. I have dual monitors and could not use this on one screen due to the beveled and angled shape of the bezel, you need a monitor with a relatively flat front and back section of the monitor. Light is even and switchable between warm and cool and allows good control so the light falls on the desk and not into your eyes. The front part of the clip only sits about 1cm over the lip of the monitor so can be used even with bezel-less type monitors.

Note that this will not work with a standard USB-A as supplied. The light goes on briefly then shuts off as not enough power is supplied. Works fine when using a USB-A to USB-C cable though, or use the supplied USB-A cable with a wall plug.
