Why did I wait so long?
There are few products in life that I feel ohh this, this is a game changer. I hate dirty floors, but I also hate to clean them. But with the iRobot Romba i4. My floors are clean and not by me. With my dog Alpha there was dog hair EVERYWHERE. That is not my life anymore. I take the dog for a walk and Roomba is off to work. I come back to clean floors and an empty bin. And that I bought it on prime day, even better. Now I want the Romba that mops and I'll give this one to my mom.

my previously white car-hair covered apartment is NO MORE. i would vacuum as normal several times per week but my apt was so covered in dust and cat hair. the dust comes from outside when i frequently have my windows open for fresh air. (with screens of course) but my grandkids were allergic to all that cat hair. so this Roomba- i love it.

My entire apartment was vacuumed thoroughly the first day. but i find as Roomba explores more and more i’m actually tossing out stuff/random things which i don’t need because i love how clean my apartment is now. it’s only been a week. I ran the roomba several times a day at first to try it out. It doesn’t get stuck much unless it’s my fault like too many toys on the living room floor. Wow, so under my bed is amazingly so Clean! no more dust bunnies. it’s incredible. Roomba also pushed light objects around and i get them off the floor. it’s pretty quiet for a vacuum. i don’t bother using my large vacuum anymore. maybe just for if i need a long hose for any reason.

I highly recommend! everyone and anyone considering it, to GET ONE. My whole family is literally breathing MUCH easier and now my kids can visit a clean and dust free apartment. and they are impressed and amazed and they live grandmas new apartment. the carpet looks amazing like it’s been vacuumed in beautiful “straight lines” where possible. it adapts to you moving furniture and things around also. it doesn’t need light. i love watching it vacuum around while i do other things.

The first two times I used this roomba, it didn’t clean everything. The first time, I used it with a partially full battery. I left while it was charging and when I returned, it had “completed the job”. But it was obvious it didn’t hit the bedroom or living room. The second time, it got stuck under a chest of drawers in the bedroom, then spent 20 minutes “looking for home”. I had to carry it to the base in order for it to find it. It never vacuumed the living room, dining room and part of the bedroom. The third time I used it, I made sure it was fully charged, and blocked the chest of drawers so it couldn’t go under it. The roomba seemed to spend a lot of time wandering around the house, returned once to empty the bin, and once to recharge. But, it completed every room and did a bang up job of it. All I really have to do is make sure everything is picked up off the floor and all electric cords are not hanging down onto the floor. Also to block off the area under the chest of drawers. I’m looking forward to the next scheduled cleaning. Currently, I’m cleaning three times a week, but I may cut down on that after a few weeks. Depends on how much I like the clean floors!

TRUST ME: it will be easier to just spend 25 min a day vacuuming

I started out with a two-star review, but I then revised my rating to ONE...one year later I can't believe this company is still in business ZERO STARS

This company has an evil plan to turn vacuuming into a subscription service. Another app that steals your data and demands constant attention on your phone.

This thing seriously never works. I have an 1800-square feet hard-wood floor and this thing has NOT A SINGLE day cut the mustard. it has taken over as literally the number one notification I get on my phone. I'm at band rehearsal trying to concentrate and BOOM this thing buzzes and needs to tell me "A job can not be completed". By the way that's what they should have called this thing the "job cannot be completed" from irobot because get ready that is the notification you will see by far the most.

Literal daily example trials with this machine:

    1. It will be in the middle of vaccuming and just stop, turn itself off, and sit listless in the middle of your floor - no explanation - until you move it back to its base to recharge, even though this is not what was advertised

    2. When you move it back to its base it takes a few hours to recharge which may interfere with its own schedule, thus once in a while you will lose track of where the vacuum is in its work cycle and suddenly at the most inopportune time (such as when the children are asleep) it will empty its own bag (loudly), so this thing has to constantly be babysat and attended to, just another electric device in my house demanding my attention. If the children are asleep i have to manually stop it and flip it on its back so it doesn't find its way back to its base and wake up the children by emptying its dust bin.

    3. This thing insists on giving me insignificant daily alerts such as "a job was completed", "a job cannot be completed", "roomba is stuck"., or "roomba rebooted", all things that if i'm home i can discern I don't need to blowing up my phone. I don't want my life to revolve around a vacuum but I can tell you after owning this thing for one month it literally needs daily maintenance and I wonder if it would be LESS worth my trouble to just vacuum myself.

it only works on hard wood floors or tile. If you have carpet or any rugs you will have to vacuum them manually. If your entire house is carpeted then don't buy it you will be sorry.

As for how well it works on smooth floors:

Forget about convenience. It works when it wants to. Wanna set it to vacuum the house as you are leaving for the day? Forget it. You open the app and get the "waiting to connect" message indefinitely - even if you turn your phone off and back on, reboot the app, uninstall it. It just doesn't matter. The manner in which it works is pure voodoo...it works whenever it feels like it despite my HI-speed internet connection.

I literally have to reboot the entire machine every day just to get it to work how it's supposed to.

-Setting up the machine: was a headache because it will only work with a 2.5ghz internet connection. If you don't know how to change that setting on your router (which I didn't, the WIFE just so happened to remember how to do that from when we bought the router) then you might as well not buy it, there is no way around this and no helpful instructions to help you with your own router either.

Overall the machine works about 60 percent of the time. I have had it a week and still not ONCE been able to wake up, set it and forget it, leave and come back to a clean house. It takes several days (supposedly) to map out your house but trying to label and then get it to vacuum individual rooms is a complete fools errand. Won't work. I exclusively use the "vacuum everywhere" command as it's the only thing that seems to work.

It takes two and a half hours for it to vacuum my house which is a normal sized kitchen, large dining room and living room, two bathrooms, and three bedrooms.

It will only work when I am at home and can supervise it as it needs constant supervision. It gets stuck all the time. This is the only way to get a vacuumed house because, again, it just won't work when I need it to. I have taken to every once in a while just opening the app at random and seeing if it says "ready to vacuum" then I feel like buying a lottery ticket. That's my experience. Overall not very impressed. after I owned it for one year the cleaning head module needed to be replaced. AFter one year in production the irobot company does not offer for purchase the cleaning module that i need

Pretty good at cleaning but recurring problems with base
Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2023

I've had this roomba for about 2.5 years now and use it daily, so here's a review with the benefit of a lot of experience.

First, the good: we have a dog and two cats, plus we live in the woods and everyone is constantly tracking dirt and leaves into the house. I run the roomba at least once a day and it's critical to my sanity because it keeps our house semi-presentable with just the push of a button. (I say "semi" because the mess just never ends, which isn't the roomba's fault.) Second, the replacement parts are inexpensive (I get off-brand from Amazon and they're totally fine) and the bags in the base last a long time (probably three or four weeks for us, and we have A LOT of dirt) before they have to be replaced.

Now the bad: this thing is loud, and it's not just because mine is older and gets a lot of use - it was loud right out of the box. It also gets stuck pretty often, usually because there are places (like the front of the fridge) that are just high enough for it to get under but too low for it to maneuver well and it gives up, loudly declaring an error message and flashing the red light of death. And then the biggie: I've had continuing issues with the base not emptying the vacuum and getting error messages in the app about the sensors on the base needing to be cleaned, literally seconds after I've thoroughly cleaned them. It got so bad that I actually took it into a vacuum repair shop and paid way too much to have the thing professionally cleaned and serviced because it just would not work, no matter how many tutorials I followed or parts I replaced. I've recently started getting the same messages again, and am similarly unable to get any of the at home fixes to work, so...I guess there's a new robot vacuum in my future, but probably not this model.

Overall, I guess I can't complain, but it's definitely not a free pass to a clean floor.

Wow! This is my first robot vacuum. I have all (brand new) LVF. This was a piece of cake to set up. The hardest part was downloading the app! Instructions are only a handful of steps. I had it running very shortly after opening the box. I did t have to do anything. It traveled the entire upstairs and created a map of my house during this first run. I have stairs going down and it sensed and avoided them. I was able to name the rooms after that and now have the flexibility to assign it to vacuum only select rooms if I want to. It goes u see my beds and consoles. It maneuvers between the legs of my dining table and chairs. It goes every single place it can fit into, all I do is leave the doors open, even inside closets! We are thoroughly entertained watching it do its job. I set it up to vacuum my upstairs at 9am every day and it does it like clockwork. It does nit leave even a crumb. We also have 3 dogs and no issues with dog fur getting caught - it just picks it up. It is not too terribly loud when vacuuming but ut did scare me when it emptied lol! It takes about 1 1/2 hours to vacuum the upstairs (about 900 sq ft of open floor). It does all of this in 1 charge and so far it does not need to empty during this time, although my flooring is new so it’s pretty clean. I am sold and will never go back to manual vacuuming!

    Nice vacuum

I bought this vacuum at a Black Friday price. I was skeptical when I first put it into service. It got stuck in several places in my home, but after I blocked those places the vacuum has performed very well. My home is about 2,200 square feet with a mix of tile, vinyl plank, and carpet and the vacuum handles them all well. I'm glad I bought the i4 with the larger battery as the vacuum has to stop to recharge about halfway through the job, which takes about 4-4.5 hours. The cell phone app makes it easy to setup and control the vacuum, plus you can see the cleaning history including maps of each job. The edges of rugs sometimes turn up and cause the vacuum to turn in another direction, but it gets covered in another pass of the vacuum. Cleaning power is good overall, hair and larger pieces don't seem to bother it much. Overall, very pleased with my purchase!

The Roomba i4 (4552) model is a great time saver. I give a 4 on battery life only because it has to recharge during the cleaning. However, since it works automatically, it is not an issue. My floor has a lot of obstacles which causes the Roomba to have navigation problems because it bumps into chair and table legs. If you have a lot of open space the machine will be very effective and get the job done quicker. This is a great machine that cleans well. Yes, it is loud when emptying the dirt. That is not a problem, though- it is automatic! I purchased it during an Amazon Prime Day sale and got a great deal of $399.00. If you have a floor with open spaces it will work very well and quickly. If you have lots of obstacles, it will take longer to complete the job and you may have to reset it. Overall, it is a good buy.

    The Verdict it Still Out
Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2023

This is my first Roomba. I had Eufy that finally wore out so I thought I'd try a self emptying and have heard great things about Roomba. I had some trouble getting the app to set up since I have 5G internet. It is not compatible but I realized I have 2 WIFI settings-one that is not 5G so was able to set up. I tried to run it for cleaning and it seemed to just want to stay in the laundry room and kitchen. It didn't really go to other rooms in my house. My house is 1400 square feet and one level so I would think it would easily be able to clean it. I then decided to try the mapping and this is when all of the problems really started. Again, it was really only going into those 2 rooms but then I kept getting notified that the bumper was stuck. It would just be sitting in a random place. I might have to reboot it completely to get it started which meant taking it back to the base. Also, I tried to push the home button but it didn't seem to recognize that. I'm assuming that would send it back to the base. I noticed it also spinning in circles a lot while trying to map. In the app it would say Returning Home but then if I paused and restarted, it would go back to mapping. It wasn't returning home-it was still running so I'm not sure what was happening. I don't know if its my internet or the Roomba. I'm going to try to exchange it to see if I just got a bad Roomba. I have a feeling this was not a brand new unit. The handle on the box that the Roomba unit was in was missing and that seemed strange to me. If the next one does the same thing, I will return it and maybe try another brand since my internet might be the issue. I will say from what I saw, that the suction seemed really good and the self emptying worked. Just too bad I had those problems. I'm hoping it was just a bad unit. It also is really too bad that it is not 5G compatible. That is information that should be made available before purchasing.

Updating since I received the replacement. This one worked correctly right away. I’m glad I did the exchange to see if it was a bad unit. It has stayed connected to Wi-Fi and no strange errors. It’s finding all the rooms in my house and no longer spinning in a circle. I think it is definitely an upgrade for my old eufy.

Updating June 2024. The connectivity of this roomba is questionable and seems to get worse as time goes on . I have to reboot it over and over to try to get it to connect to my internet and work within the app. I never did get it to map my house correctly but at least when it does work it does a decent job of vacuuming. I may just have to start using it outside of the app unfortunately. I don't think its ever really going to connect up very well and function that way. Its really too bad and I hope with newer models this problem gets resolved.

this works so well! the ability to map the room and return back to home base to empty the contents means I am using it more often without lifting a finger!

    Does not work on 220v!

I was skeptical when the base's power adapter said 100-120v. But seeing as Amazon.sg sold this to me in Singapore, I assumed it would work. The base will power up on 220v with a simple adapter. And it will convert AC to DC and charge the Roomba. So the Roomba will run.

However, the base's "empty bin" feature uses a vaccuum motor in the base. And that motor requires 110v. So, the automatic emptying feature will complain of a problem on the base when trying to empty the bin. That feature will not work on this device unless you have a 1.2kW transformer for your 220v/110v conversion.

  • CLEANS WHERE YOU TELL IT TO CLEAN - Pair it with Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant-enabled devices and say commands like “Tell Roomba Combo to clean the kitchen." Then it goes into cleaning action. Works with Google Home and Alexa enabled devices.
