Journey to NIT Allahabad (MNNIT Allahabad)
After clearing JEE, the most frustrating part is JOSAA counselling. I secured my seat at NIT Allahabad by Round 2. Physical registrations were scheduled from August 10, 2023, to August 14, 2023, with classes starting on August 16, 2023.
Seat Allotment and Verification Process
The process generally follows this flow: Seat Allotment → Online Verification (pay fee) → Physical Reporting.
How to Reach MNNIT Allahabad
MNNIT Allahabad is located in Teliarganj, Prayagraj. There are three railway stations in Prayagraj:
- Prayagraj Junction: Nearest to the college
- Prayagraj Rambagh: A bit farther
- Prayagraj Chheoki: Almost 16 kms away, farthest and less developed
Tips for Commuting:
From any of these stations, the central hub to reach the college is Civil Lines or Bank Road.
- Auto drivers may ask for INR 400-500; the actual fare is around INR 10-20 from Civil Lines and INR 150-200 from Chheoki to the Ganga Gate of NIT Allahabad. Bargain to avoid overcharging.
- Keep your luggage safe; thefts at the station are not uncommon.
- Prefer arriving in Prayagraj during the daytime.
Post Seat Allotment Process
After seat allotment via JOSAA, download the seat allotment letter and prepare documents for online verification. I had to pay INR 36,000 initially to JOSAA and then INR 45,000, totaling INR 76,000 (INR 5,000 to JOSAA and the rest for semester fees). This payment is made before arriving at the college for physical verification.
Required Documents for Online Verification
- Provisional Seat Allotment Letter
- 10th and 12th Grade Report Cards
- Income Certificate
- Transfer Certificate (TC) and Migration Certificate
- Category Certificate (Ensure it is Central OBC-NCL if applicable, not state OBC-NCL)
- Aadhaar Card
- Medical Certificate
- Undertaking by Student (as per UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009)
- Undertaking by Parent/Guardian (as per UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009)
- Undertaking for not keeping/using a motorized vehicle on campus
Online Verification
During online verification, submit the required files and pay the semester fees according to your category. Additionally, pay the mess fee of INR 25,000 (subject to change). Print the receipt and organize all documents in a file. Make an extra copy of all documents and note your file number after completing the online verification.
Physical Reporting
Reach the college by your preferred means. An airport is nearby. Enter the college via Ganga Gate. Reporting is done branch-wise: CS → ECE + EE → others.
Reporting Process
Enter via Ganga Gate.
Proceed to the crossroads; the Dean's office is on the right, the academic building on the left, and moving forward leads to the Diamond Jubilee Underpass. The MP Hall is on the right of the Diamond Jubilee Underpass.
Reporting is done in the MP Hall. Parents can relax at the nearby Dewsis Cafe.

Verify your documents, print the file number, and get them attested.
Follow the instructions to complete the process and get your room allocation in SVBH (Swami Vivekananda Boys Hostel).
Hostel Information
Hostel Facilities
- Rooms for 2 or 3 students, depending on the intake.
- 4 lifts, 2 mess halls, garden area, juice center, Talwar Cafe, Goyal Stores, TT area, and badminton court.
- 7 floors in the hostel.
- Purchase necessary items like buckets, bedsheets, and more from Goyal Shop.
- Spacious rooms with study areas, almirahs, and LAN ports (no Wi-Fi provided).
Note: The mess serves only vegetarian food.
Personal Note: My room was on the 3rd floor, room number 311.
General Advice
- If you feel overwhelmed, ask for help from students, security guards, or anyone around.
- Keep all receipts safe until you receive your ID card.
- Always verify your documents thoroughly before submission.
