Hyland Interview Experience for R&D Internship

I recently went through the Hyland on-campus hiring process for Research and Development(R&D) Internship and would like to share my interview experience for future aspirants.

Candidate Information:

  • Company : Hyland

  • Academic Status : Third-Year B.Tech CSE Student

Overview of Interview Process:

Eligibility Criteria

  • 85% or above in Class 10
  • 85% or above in Class 12
  • CGPA of 8.5 or above in B.Tech

Students meeting these criteria were shortlisted for the Online Assessment.

Online Assessment (OA)

Duration : Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes

Method : Online Proctored

Focus :

  • Core Computer Science fundamentals
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Coding proficiency and logical thinking

Key Questions :

  • Multiple-choice questions based on core subjects such as DSA, Operating Systems, DBMS, Computer Networks, OOPs etc.
  • Two medium-level Dynamic Programming (DP) coding questions

Technical Round

Duration : Around 30 to 45 minutes

Method : In-person

Location : Hyland Kolkata Office

Focus :

  • Technical knowledge
  • Project discussion
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Analytical skills

Key Questions :

  • Brief self-introduction.
  • Questions about the domains and technologies I had worked with.
  • Discussion about my previous internship experience and key learnings.
  • Real-world use case scenarios based on my technical stack.
  • Detailed discussion of my projects, including the workflow, architecture and implementation.
  • Follow-up questions on the design decisions, challenges faced and possible improvements in my projects.

Post-Interview Reflections:

Company Culture Insights

One of the best aspects of the interview was the interview panel. They were extremely friendly and encouraging throughout the discussion. They focused on understanding my thought process and made the conversation comfortable.

Work Environment

The interview was conducted at the Hyland Kolkata office. The office environment appeared lively, professional, collaborative and employee-friendly.

Additional Information:

The recruitment process was smooth and well-organized. Communication at every stage was clear, and the interview experience was pleasant from start to finish.

Tips for Future Candidates:

Build a strong understanding of core Computer Science subjects such as Operating Systems, DBMS, Computer Networks, and OOPs.

Practice medium-level DSA problems

Be confident while explaining your projects.

Have a clear understanding of your project's architecture, workflow, implementation and design decisions.

Clearly communicate your thought process while approaching technical discussions and problem-solving scenarios.

Closing Note:

Overall, my Hyland interview experience was excellent. The interview panel was supportive, and the discussion felt more like a technical conversation than traditional question-and-answer session. I am grateful to have received the opportunity to join Hyland and would encourage future candidates to focus on strong project knowledge, core CS fundamentals and clear communication.
