Getting into Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a dream for many aspiring engineers. TCS offers freshers three prominent roles:
- Ninja Profile (Rs. 3.5–3.6 LPA),
- Digital Profile (Rs. 7–7.5 LPA),
- Prime Profile (Rs. 9–11 LPA).
I was fortunate enough to secure an offer for the TCS Digital Profile as a Systems Engineer (SE). Here, I’ll walk you through my experience and the steps I took to land this role.
Round 1: TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT):
The first stage was the TCS NQT Exam, which took place on May 8, 2024. The test consisted of five sections and assessed various skills:
- Numerical Ability: 20–30 questions
- Verbal Ability: 20–25 questions
- Reasoning Ability: 25–35 questions
- Programming Logic: 5–15 questions
- Coding: 1–2 questions
I was able to fully solve one coding problem and partially solve the second one. The test was of easy to medium difficulty, and I managed to clear this round, which was crucial for proceeding further.
Round 2: Technical Interview (Duration: 30-45min)
After clearing the NQT, I received an interview invite for the TCS Digital Profile. The interview took place at my university, Chandigarh University, and consisted of two rounds: Technical and Managerial.
In the technical round, two interviewers focused on SQL, Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), and my projects. Some of the key questions were:
- Write an SQL query to select elements from a table and convert them to uppercase.
- Code a recursive function to calculate the factorial of a number.
- Implement code to identify an identity matrix.
- Perform matrix multiplication.
- Check if a number is an Armstrong number.
- Discuss my projects, backed by internship certificates and recommendation letters.
I was able to answer most of the questions confidently, particularly highlighting my projects and demonstrating the work I had done.
Round 3: Managerial Round (Duration: 20-30 minutes)
The Managerial Round focused on my ability to handle projects and real-world scenarios. The interviewer asked me to explain my internship projects and how I handled different challenges during those experiences.
Additionally, the interviewer questioned me on:
- Problem-solving approaches I used in past projects.
- Teamwork skills, particularly how I collaborated with others.
- Leadership qualities I demonstrated during my projects.
Round 4: Document Verification & Offer Letter
After the interview process, I received an email on July 11, 2024, requesting the submission of documents for verification. Once the verification was completed, I received my offer letter for the TCS Digital Profile on July 16, 2024.
VERDICT: SELECTED FOR DIGITAL PROFILE
