The Frightful Howls You May Hear

Be not alarmed at The Frightful Howls [Which] You May Hear: a bi-weekly podcast on all manner of magic, occultism, and folklore, from learned traditions of grimoires and astrology to the folkways of traditional witchcraft and herbalism around the globe.Much as with our namesake—being a warning from the Grand Grimoire to the conjurer about the abrupt and intense manifestation of spirits—our podcast was born of a love of sorcerous ambition. We are traditional witches, karcists, necromancers, and diviners working with diverse Old and New World traditions, grimoires, and spirit courts joined by common approaches to the hidden. In addition to being the best of friends, we're partners in the cunning arts, frequently collaborating on all things magical over on our blog, With Cunning & Command.Every two weeks, we bring you a folkloric deep-dive into an element of traditional magic to better enrich your knowledge base, a practicum on magical strategy and fostering enduring animistic relationships with your spirits, or a guest feature with a personal friend to tackle a combination of the two. Our goal is to bring together rigorous research with courageous ambition, delivered to you in the light-hearted banter of companions and friends.Your hosts are:Sfinga, Balkan traditional witch, diviner, Quimbandeira, and initiate of several traditional lineages of witchcraft and magic. Multi-track saint calendar drifting at all times (she's Eastern Orthodox).B. Key, witch, diviner, Quimbandeiro, and alchemist (in both the spiritual cultivator and mad scientist ways). Once a rugged late-night radio host, now a rugged late-night-owl occult podcast host. Will teach you how to (s)cry without tears so you can spend more time hunting for rare materia and occult treasure.Previously, Salt was also a host of the podcast up until October 2025.We hope you enjoy our show! Happy conjuring!
