Explore accessibility resources, take action today, and build momentum toward National AccessAbility Week 2027.
National AccessAbility Week brings Canadians together to celebrate the contributions and leadership of people with disabilities and advance accessibility across the country. Inspired by Rick Hansen’s Man In Motion World Tour, National AccessAbility Week is an opportunity for individuals, schools, workplaces, and communities to learn about accessibility, challenge barriers, and turn awareness into action.
Barriers still exclude people from participating fully in everyday life. Your support can help change that. Make a gift today and help create a more accessible Canada for people with disabilities.
What is National AccessAbility Week?
National AccessAbility Week is an annual week of awareness, celebration, and action. It recognizes the leadership and contributions of people with disabilities while encouraging Canadians to identify, challenge, and remove barriers in their schools, workplaces, and communities.
When is National AccessAbility Week?
National AccessAbility Week is held each year beginning on the last Sunday in May. In 2027, National AccessAbility Week will take place from May 30 to June 6.
Why does National AccessAbility Week Matter?
Accessibility means creating communities, environments, programs, and services where everyone can participate fully. National AccessAbility Week gives Canadians an opportunity to learn more about the barriers people with disabilities continue to encounter — and, more importantly, what each of us can do about them. It’s a chance to move from awareness to action and help make accessibility part of how we plan, communicate, work, and connect.
Who can participate in National AccessAbility Week?
Everyone — and every action counts.
Educators can start conversations with students about accessibility and inclusion. Workplaces can look at how people access information, meetings, and physical spaces. Community organizations can make events and programs more welcoming. Individuals can learn about barriers, share resources, and encourage others to get involved.
Whatever your role, there’s a way to participate.
How can I participate?
You don’t have to wait until National AccessAbility Week to get started.
Choose a barrier you can help address. Start a conversation about accessibility. Share a resource with your workplace, school, or community. Small actions can build understanding, influence decisions, and lead to bigger change.

How can schools participate in National AccessAbility Week?
Schools can help young people understand what accessibility looks like in everyday life — and the role they can play in creating change.
Use classroom resources, morning announcements, accessibility activities, and school-wide conversations to get students thinking about inclusion, identifying barriers, and taking action during National AccessAbility Week and beyond.
How can workplaces participate in National AccessAbility Week?
Make National AccessAbility Week a starting point for accessibility action at work. Share resources with your team, start conversations about disability inclusion, and look at your communications, meetings, digital tools, and physical spaces through an accessibility lens. Then identify changes your organization can make – during National AccessAbility Week and throughout the year.
How can Communities and Organizations participate in National AccessAbility Week?
Community groups, municipalities, and organizations have an important role in creating places and experiences where everyone can participate. Review your events, programs, communications, and spaces through an accessibility lens. Include people with lived experience in identifying barriers and developing solutions. You can also bring people together around accessibility by hosting a community fundraiser in support of a more accessible Canada.
