As of 9/30, there have been 12 allegations at the still-shutdown Palisades #nuclear plant in #Michigan this year--far more than at any operating plant. This is not unexpected given all the trouble that Holtec is experiencing with the restart project. nrc.gov/docs/ML2629/ML…

The @NRCgov has issued its final rule on "Reviews of Reactor Designs Previously Authorized by U.S. Department of Energy or Department of War." It says this "does not affect the NRC’s commitment to conducting independent reviews." I'll hold them to that! nrc.gov/docs/ML2629/ML…

On Friday the Waterford-3 #nuclear reactor in #Louisiana automatically scrammed at 75 percent power after the turbine tripped as the reactor was being prepared for a refueling outage. An emergency diesel generator was actuated.

At the @NRCgov Commission meeting today, staff just disclosed that they have already reversed recent inspection program changes that had assigned some reactor security oversight duties formerly performed by regional experts to unqualified resident inspectors. This is good.
