B1ackOS is a rolling-release Linux distribution based on Debian's "Unstable" branch. It offers editions with or without the X Window System, with the former featuring the Cinnamon desktop environment. The distribution is designed with privacy and personal information protection in mind and it also includes some tools for penetration and security testing to help assessing the system's security. B1ackOS can be installed to a hard disk using either the standard Debian Installer or the Calamares installation program directly from the live environment.
To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
Colour scheme:green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

This is debian sid based distro and on my experience this is only debian sid that works stable and even updates are stable. This distro has own repositories, which contains cool packages that are not available in debian repositories.
I use this distro on my PC with AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Nvidia RTX 2060. I use nouveau and it works better than nouveau on debian, because b1ack os has latest kernel with latest nouveau.
And I am running this distro for a month now, and there's wasn't a single bug or crash caused by system.

Itās the best Debian-based distro Iāve seen; Iād just add automatic Secure Boot support and the Calamares installer, since I ran into trouble setting up the source code and wasn't quite sure where to get the config for the st (suckless) terminal. Otherwise, Iād recommend this distro to almost everyoneāitās convenient and solid (just filling up the 500-character limit here).
By the way, my first experience with Debian itself was a failure, so this distro really impressed meāIām happy with it (Debianās disk partitioning is complex and it lacked curl and wget, even though I speedran Gentoo in 2 hours and LFSāincluding BLFSāin 2 days) lol.

I don't usually write reviews, but b1ackos deserves it.
Been running it for two weeks now. Not a single crash. Not one. Everything just works ā and I mean EVERYTHING. Wi-Fi connected on first boot, audio no issues, video playback smooth. Even my weird old printer worked out of the box. When does that ever happen?
The look is exactly what I wanted. No ugly UI, no weird bright colors hurting my eyes at 2AM. Just clean, dark, and fast. Feels like the system actually respects me.
And the speed? Holy crap. My laptop used to take 40 seconds to boot. Now it's like 12. Apps open before I finish clicking. No lag, no stutter.
I've tried Arch, Fedora, Mint, PopOS ā all fine, but b1ackos just gets out of my way. No bloated packages, no forced snaps, no nonsense. Just the tools I need and nothing else.
The devs clearly know what they're doing. This feels like a finished product, not a beta. If you're tired of the mainstream distros and want something that actually feels solid and different ā grab b1ackos.
Honestly? Best distro I've used in years.
Rating: 10/10 ā not kidding. Installed it on my main machine. Zero regrets.
