Named for the town of Goslar nearest the type locality of Rammelsberg Mine, Germany. Dana (late 1800s) attributes the name to Haidinger (1845), but similar names were used before that time.
Epsomite-Goslarite Series.

A complete series exists between goslarite and its Mg analogue epsomite in artificial material. There is apparently only limited substitution of Zn for Mg in natural material.
