Gavin Newsom Lies to Placate the Black Vote, Claiming He Won't Run if Kamala Harris Does

Well, Kamala Harris is running at the moment. I can't say she'll stay in all the way but as of now, she's running.

Gavin Newsom is also running.

So he's lying.

I see a lot of non-stunned faces in the comments.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) told CNN he will not run for president in 2028 if former Vice President Kamala Harris enters the race.

Newsom made the comment during a fly-fishing outing in Montana with CNN's Jake Tapper, as part of an ongoing series that was announced on Monday in which the anchor joins politicians in their favorite places to discuss their careers. Tapper pressed Newsom on the crowded Democrat field, noting he was not even the only potential candidate from California before naming Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Harris.

"I don't know if she runs, but we'll see," Newsom said. When Tapper noted Harris had "called around," the governor added, "But I wouldn't run if she ran."

Tapper asked him to confirm the line.

"Of course not. Why would I? I wouldn't do that to her," Newsom said. "I wouldn't waste everyone's time. Who needs that?"

Newsom argued a primary between the two Californians would only benefit the rest of the field, describing the scenario as "mutually assured destruction."

"Electorally, it's a gift from God for everybody else," he said. "It services no greater good."

Kamala Harris has the biggest share of the black vote in polls, ranging between 34% and 49%. Newsom has only 14%.

He has another problem: Black Democrats are serious about DEI, by which I mean, they demand that jobs go to them, and that includes nominee slots. James Clyburn infamously insisted that Biden choose a black female for Vice President. He did. Black Democrats insisted Biden appoint a black female non-biologist to the Supreme Court. He did.

And we're seeing black Democrats in Texas reject the gay white kid James Talarico for "stealing" the nomination that belongs (due to DEI assumptions) Jasmine Ratchet.

Gavin Newsom can't win a majority of the black vote against the DEI-privileged candidate Kamala Harris. He doesn't need to. But, if he defeats Kamala Harris, to whom the 2028 nomination "belongs" to by DEI illogic, he will have to bring bitter DEI-zealot black Democrats on board for the general.

So he's making this empty promise now that he will step aside and give Kamala Harris the nomination that "belongs" to her if she wants it.

But what will he do when she runs? That is a problem, I'm sure he's thinking, for Future Gavin Newsom, which Future Gavin Newsom will just have to deal with when it comes up.

For now, he's letting black Democrats know he will not "steal" a nomination from the Stronk Empowered Black (and Indian) Woman it "belongs" too. So if she decides not to run because she finally gets a DUI arrest, he's positioned himself right for James Clyburn.

Note that Jake Tapper is now deliberately "humanizing" inhuman Democrat politicians by interviewing them in contrived campaign-commercial scenarios. I'm including a very smart rebuttal to my point:
