Lots of Stuff

Wow, a lot of stuff has been happening in my life. I moved out of my parents house the first week of April. It has been great. I live with two super awesome girls in my ward named Lindsey and Rachel, and for the first time in my life I'm having a good roommate experience. So that is super happy, good news.
Julia and I graduated on May 1. So I officially have my master's degree. CRAZY! I never thought I'd do that, but here I am. We were really stupid and went to a midnight showing of Wolverine the night before. Then we had to get up early for the commencement. When we finally got home that afternoon, we got ready for our big graduation party. Our party went till about 3 am, so by the end of it all we were BEAT, but it was tons of fun. Here are a couple of pictures of the day.

Last Tuesday I went to the Keane concert and it was AWESOME! I'm totally in love with Tom Chaplin, except I miss his longer hair. They opened the concert with "The Lovers Are Losing" which is a FABULOUS song, it might be my favorite from Perfect Symmetry. The ended with "Bedshaped" which is also a song I LOVE. But let's be honest, if Keane sings it, I love it. They are definitely my second favorite band (they are in a very close second behind Hanson, but Hanson has stood the test of time). They sang a good mix of songs from all three albums. The crowd was great and sang along to every song. I was hoping they would do a cover, because I love their covers, but they didn't. It's a little blurry, but oh well. I wanted to yell to him "I want to be your microphone" but I didn't. If we had been a little closer I totally would have.

Tim and Rich are super hot too, but the picture with Tim is really dark so you can't really see him. It was a fabulous night, and at the end of it Heather had totally lost her voice. I was fine, but years ago Ju and I decided we must just know how to yell without losing our voices. It isn't for lack of trying, many a Backstreet Boys concert we had a goal of losing our voices by the end of it, but we were never able to succeed. I seriously LOVE going to concerts of bands I LOVE. Few things make me happier.

Chopping It Off

Last week I called my friend/hair stylist to make an appointment and I totally planned on just maybe putting a little more blonde in my hair, but keeping it long. I haven't had short hair in FOREVER. The next day I was thinking about it and I thought "I really just want to chop my hair off." So when I got to my appointment Monday, I told Laurie I wanted to go as short as she would let me, add some extra blonde and have fun. So here is the result.


My dad thinks it is too "sassy" but I LOVE it! I haven't worn it curly yet, so hopefully it will look good. I still just love the change. And what can I say; I'm a total babe.

The Worst Blogger

So I am officially a terrible blogger but really my life isn't very exciting, so I guess that is ok. I am very happy to report I have a new niece. Her name is Sarah Jane and she was born on Jan 22. She is super cute!

Seriously my family has the cutest newborns! (That is my completely unbiased opinion.) The same day Sarah was born my niece Izzy turned 1. Here is a picture of her:

See, cutest babies in the world. (Really, I don't think I have a biased opinion on the matter, she is just cute.) My nephews and other niece are just as cute. I really think there is nothing better than being an aunt.
I started my very last semester of school in January, and I can't wait to be done. Julia and I are going to have a HUGE party the day we graduate; it's going to be fabulous.
Unfortunately in the past few months I've developed crushes on a couple of guys, which totally sucks. There is nothing worse than liking a boy, and knowing nothing is ever going to happen, so hopefully I can get over both crushes in the very near future.
Yesterday I spent the entire day learning about makeup and how to apply it to get the look you want. The workshop was taught by Robert Jones who is a professional makeup artist. It was tons of fun, and now I feel more confident about teaching other people about makeup.
And that is the past few months of my life in a nutshell.

Thanksgiving weekend and the reason it is a good thing I'm not a mother

So for Thanksgiving Jen and Scott came with the boys from Colorado. They had Thanksgiving Dinner with Scott's fam but later that night we made gingerbread (gram cracker really) houses. Well I was helping Matthew and really he was just eating candy while I tried to build the house. He did help a little bit, and I didn't do anything without consulting him first. (Really how much is a 2-year-old going to argue?)One of the funniest things that happened was when we were trying to build a pretzel fence, the one Matthew was holding up fell over and he was like "oh shoot" and it made me laugh because I think I had already said that a few times. The other funny thing was when we were putting Hershey's Kisses on an Matthew unwrapped one then told me if we put it on the house it would look ugly so he needed to eat it (he had already had WAY too much candy and I had been trying to keep him from eating anymore). How I love my boys! Here are a few pictures from the occasion.

On Saturday Julia had to go on a field trip for her Utah geography class, so we decided to take the boys to Dinosaur Park in Ogden. When we got there the boys were totally scared. The worst was the robotic dinosaurs that they wouldn't even look at. It took a while, but we finally convinced them that the dinosaurs aren't scary because they are just statues. So they are finally starting to enjoy themselves, and Rach was carrying Matthew when his diaper leaked all over her. Well thankfully it was just wet, and it only got on Rach's jacket, but we didn't have a spare pair of pants for Matthew. Well we really weren't ready to go home, so we wrapped Matthew in a blanket that was in the van. Well, it was a big blanket, and we had to take turns carrying him. Let's just say he was a lot heavier in the blanket. I think both boys had fun, but when we got home and Matthew was just tired, he was telling Jen a about his pants getting wet and how he had to have the blanket around him like it was a very traumatic experience. All three of us girls (me, Ju and Rach) decided it's a good thing we aren't mother's yet, and we learned a lesson to ALWAYS have spare clothes. Here are some of the pictures from Dinosaur Park.

The Best Concert Ever!

So this blog is totally a week late, but oh well. Last Saturday (Nov 8) Ju, Heather, Jessica, Christie and I all went to a Matt Nathanson concert. Thankfully Heather remembered her camera, so we have pictures (and a little bit of video). Can I just say he is soooooooo funny! And I love his music and he is totally HOT! Basically you get comedy, music and eye candy in one show. Wow it's fun! So I have a little video clip of one of the funniest parts of the concert. To preface it, Matt has a song called "Princess" that he fully admits he stole the cord changes from "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfeild. Here is a small clip of "Princess"

(I had to make it a video for it to work) So in the middle of singing "Princess" he goes into "Jessie's Girl" and when everyone isn't singing along, he stops the song, and asks what terrible things happened in our childhood. Then he says we all better sing along and he starts at the beginning of "Jessie's Girl" and everyone does sing along. Later in the concert someone yelled out something and Matt heard "ghost busters." So he starts going off on that, and he realizes that "Ghost Busters" is totally the same song as "I Want a New Drug" by Huey Lewis. It was soooooo funny to see the look on his face when he came to that realization. So he asks his band mate, Aaron, if there was a lawsuit, and Aaron told him that there was. Matt was like "What was the outcome? They should have been taken to the cleaners!" and Aaron said "There was a settlement of sorts." So Matt was then like "Do you know what else is the same song? 'Living on a Prayer' and 'Heaven is a Place on Earth.'" He starts singing "Living on a Prayer" and at this point Heather realizes she should maybe try out the video feature on her camera. So here's what we got. (I know it's small and you can barely see it, but it's still funny.)

I had to flip the video, so the quality isn't great, and I tried to edit cuss word, and I didn't do a great job. If you didn't understand he said at the end, he said "Rick Springfield doesn't have *@#% on me." It was great. Another favorite moment was when someone yelled out "Come On Get Higher" and Matt was like "No need to yell for that song. You will not be disappointed. Some things are sure in life. You are going to die, you are going to pay taxes, and you are going to hear that song before the end of tonight." It was also funny right before the last song and he was like "Well this is our last song before we leave the stage, then you all cheer really loud and we come back out and play the two songs we were going to play for you anyway. I feel like that's how this works. It's like the contract we have." We all laughed. At another point in the concert he was trying the introduce the song he was going to sing, and people kept yelling out songs. Here is a little clip of what happened then. So yeah, it was a GREAT night. Many of you will be shocked about what I'm about to say, but it was even better than a Hanson concert.

My life at the moment

Last week I had a couple of second interviews with two firms I'd really like to work for. I'm just praying I get an offer from one of them. Oh well, if I don't I guess I'll just have to look for a firm outside of Utah to work for. (I think Dallas would be a good place to go, don't you agree Lance and Rach?) In the meantime, I'm trying to focus on school.

School is hard but good. Last week was super stressful because I had three tests and a oral presentation. This week has been much more calm. I was kind of thinking I might want to go to law school when I'm done, but then I did a research project for my tax research class and I'm not sure I'd like being a lawyer. I'm highly considering getting into politics though. Hopefully if more good people get involved we can turn our country around.

Now for my political ranting. Lately, as everyone has been so focused on the economy and the presidential election, I've been really thinking about what my own political views are and have been reading up on things so that I'm more informed. I've decided that I really wish Ron Paul were on the ballot this year. But as he is not, and I can't in good conscience vote for McCain or Obama, I will be voting for a 3rd party candidate. I think the lesser of two evils is still evil. Wasting your vote is voting for someone you don't like or agree with. Both McCain and Obama have a socialistic agenda, and that is NOT what we need as a country and in our economy. Capitalism is not to blame for our problems, because the government has been getting in the way of capitalism for years. Anyway, I'm sick of it all, and the only way things will turn around is if good people start getting involved. So all of you who don't like either of the mainstream candidates, check out the other candidates, and vote for the person you really think shares your views.

All married men should wear wedding bands.

So there is this guy in a bunch of my classes that I think is really cute. I knew he has kids, but he doesn't wear a wedding band, so I thought maybe he was divorced or something. Well tonight a bunch of us were studying for a test we have this week, and he was there. We all got talking about the different firms we want to work for, and someone mentioned a firm that's up in Logan. So this guy was like "I didn't even consider them because Logan is too cold and my wife said no way." So yeah, he is married. Good thing when I think a guy is cute I never try to make a move or anything. That would have been REALLY embarrassing!
