SOFTBALL

Softball season ended today with the worst sunburn I have ever had. We had a tournament starting at 8 am. We lost our first game, won the second in overtime, and lost the third taking fourth place overall. It was a fun to coach Ashlyn again but I'm glad it's over. Ashlyn is really good at softball, she is a natural. She played catcher quite a bit this year and did a really good job. She also pitched a few times and played at first and short stop. She does get a little cocky though. One game the coach said you got your friend out and Ashlyn told her she doesn't have friends on the field.

Last Day of School

I am always as ready as the kids for school to be out, May is so hectic. The days are longer and its harder to get homework done and get the kids to go to bed at night. Baseball and softball starts and the kids have a lot going on at school. I am just ready for a break.

 The first day of school-

It's fun to see how much they have changed since the first of the year.

This morning they gave the awards out for the track meet. Ashlyn got two; first place in the 400 meter relay and second in the running jump. Her class took first overall. Then we went to the school for lunch and ate with Garrett and Ashlyn.

We rode up the canyon tonight to look at the rock slide that happened yesterday. The snow pack on the mountain is 250 percent of normal and there is water running everywhere.

Track Meet

After two days of being cancelled because of snow and rain they were finally able to hold the fifth and sixth grade track meet today. I got there just in time to see Ashlyn getting ready for the 100 meter dash and was able to get a few pictures and watch her win. I wasn't able to stay and watch the rest but she did a good job.

Ashlyn's Country Report

Ashlyn gave her country report today on Iraq. She had to put together a power point slide show on all the information she gathered. After she presented that to the class Matt talked to them and showed them pictures and some things he had bought while in Iraq. Then we had Ma mounia, which is wheat pudding.

Spring Program

Today was Garrett's spring program. They sang songs, had a talent show, and braided the may pole. Garrett's talent was blowing his elk call. 

Tonight was also the spring art show. Braden had three drawings/paintings in it. Two of them were in the fall art show and this is a new one. The river scene he had in the fall show got an honorable mention. 

Ashlyn had two ball games today and they won both.

Most Improved Reader

Garrett was chosen as the most improved reader for his class. They had a little assembly today and those chosen were each given a book.

Time Out!

Matt was hunting bears all day yesterday and called to see if I wanted to go to Marias with them. While we were there Ashlyn called to see when we were going to be home. Garrett is being a brat so I put him in time out. I said you can't do that. She says I just did. And he was still there when we got home.
