January into March

When we got back from Utah, before Lucy went back to GW, the kids orchestrated a double blind queso taste test.  It was grand and elaborate.  And Atrisco's won.  Mmmmmm, queso.

Plenty of this happened during the winter and no one complained.  If they knew what was coming soon, by way of not going to school, they would not have believed it.
Several friends texted me this photo which was in the local paper, local events magazine, etc.  She's famous!
Lucy got to meet brand new baby Eleanor.
The boys finally did alllllll the paperwork and jumped through every last hoop to earn their Eagle Scout Award.  It was a big deal in my opinion, but they didn't want us to make a big deal out of it, so we went to Harry's Road House and Rob presented them with their Eagle's.
Much skiing transpired during the winter.  The boys and the girl are speed demons.  Clara had "winter wonder days" through school and spent every Friday in January and a few in February skiing (she is not included in this clip)

Valentine's Day saw the annual Cafe De Valentine revive.  It's gasping for breath, that tradition, poor Clara.  We do it for her. Barely.

Lot's of time at the climbing gym.

Still the King of origami

Clara tried swim team and loved it.  I volunteered at one meet and oh my word.....it went on for HOURS.  Who knew.  But she loved it and will do it again in the post-Covid world, whenever that is.

Our cookies from Ever arrived!  They were gone in seconds flat.
No shortage of snow this spring.
We finally stopped at Camel Rock.  It was not terribly impressive, but we checked it off the list.  Pictures don't show the trash and chain link fence.

During swim team Clara's glasses went missing.  I was livid.  Rob took her to the Chavez Center to rummage through the lost and found.  One pair was found (they have boxes of glasses.  You'd think people would miss them and go and look for them, but I guess that doesn't happen).  So one weekend I took Clara and her friend ice skating and checked the lost and found again and we found her second pair.  Whew!  I was NOT happy she lost them.  At all.

Clara broke her thumb when she was helping to fold up and put away the tables in the lunch room.  She has mended fine.
We babysat Bean for a week and she just stares at Anders because he throws the ball for her and she is OBSESSED.

One dog is obsessed with food, the other with balls.

The kids had a stellar piano recital.  Really excellent work all around.
Tucker turned 18!!!  The magical age where I no longer have to fill out medical forms for him.  WAHOO!

Tucker has been doing a ton of strength training for climbing.  Geez Louise, the kid is super duper strong these days.

Utah Visit

As Uncle likes to say, "We bashed up to Utah" during the holiday.  We had many hours at the puzzle table.  I think we did six or seven puzzles.

Clara enjoyed Theo
Cousin's played and played and played.

Skiing took place.

Bombay House of course
NYE the binkers played while the adults did P712 (where I had the surprise of seeing Jennifer Powell from the Europe/London olden days, which was very fun).  After dinner we did minute to win it games back at the ranch.

We had leftovers from the previous fourth of July stashed away for this purpose.
Sledding, fort building, and snowball fights oh my.

New Years Greek Dinner was as delish as ever.  We skipped the dance party because the gym was needed and there was some sadness about that.

Hoorah for the fun bash to Utah.
