Halloween

For Halloween Cole dressed up as a lion. We only made one Trick-or-Treating stop to Cole's Great-Grandparents house. They had a special treat of chocolate and a box of animal crackers.

York dressed up as a Subway employee (LOL) and I just wore an orange shirt. I know..."how original!" Maybe next year I'll be more creative and we'll come up with an amazing theme for our little family.

Here's Cole with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Amanda. They were kind enough to bring dinner (in a pumpkin) and caramel apples over. It was delicious! Thanks! Then we watched "I am Legend."

We also had some really cute trick-or-treaters come by. Barbie (Savannah), an Angel (Kendall), and a witch (Reese). Kayden the pirate came over with his parents for dinner but left before I took pictures. Sorry.

Things Cole Learned This Month

How to dress like Rambo...
Honestly, he put this belt on himself without my help.

How to climb in the kitchen drawer for a break...
This too he did by himself.

How to properly hold a cell phone...
What you see in his hand is a cell phone charger. Since he makes calls on our cell phones, he is no longer allowed to play with them. Cole has improvised by using anything as a phone. (i.e. remotes, shoes, etc.)

How to wipe off tables...
Wish I had this on video. I guess after seeing me wipe things down for months and months Cole picked up on it. I really hope skills like this will stick with him. I also caught him putting his diapers in the diaper bin, instead of dumping them out. He is getting so smart.

How to take some steps...
In the last two days, Cole has taken at most 4 steps by himself with much encouragement from York and myself. It's not something that happens often and is over in a split second, so we have yet to catch it on film. Hopefully he will be doing some great walking in the next few days/weeks.

How to take his diaper off...
A couple of weeks ago Cole has napping in his crib. I went to peek in on my little angel only to find he was sitting up and had a fist full of poop he was studying intently. Lets just say that there was a bit of a mess to clean up. I didn't take any pictures because I thought that would be a bit much. (Plus I was in a hurry to clean it up.) So I guess you can say the thing I learned this month was to check on Cole often, now that he can take his pants and diaper off!?!?

Movin' On Up, To The West Side

Finally after 6 years.... we decided to purchase a house!! We've moved closer to my family, it's now a 4 minute drive instead of 20 minutes. We now own a 6 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom house that sits on an acre. It's only been a few days but it has been fantastic to see our floors instead of stuff, and to have multiple rooms instead of multipurpose rooms. Those living with an office in their bedroom and a treadmill in their dinning room understand. Anyway, I've done some comparison pictures for those of you who never got the chance to see our tiny apartment and/or those who haven't seen our new house. I thought it would be a good laugh for everyone to see how crowded our living situation was.

Peeping Cole

Being apartment managers we have a mail slot on our front door. It is usually covered by some material we velcro on. Cole has learned how to yank the material off and put his arms out the slot. (I wonder what people passing by think about a child's arm hanging out the mail slot.) Anyway, it's pretty funny to watch him open "his little window" and peep out at the world. I'm now waiting for the day he decides to start sending our possessions to the outside world through the slot.

Happy Birthday Big Bro!

Today is my big brother's birthday. As little sister and the years of torment I had to go through, it is only fair that I get to post a funny picture of him for his B-day. Anyway, Happy Birthday Alan! We love you! :)

Cole's 1st Birthday!!!

Our sweet baby boy turned 1! It's amazing how fast a year has gone by! For his big event he had a Cowboy Birthday Party. We played "Pin the Badge on the Sheriff". We even talked the great grandparents into playing :) When it came time to eat the cake Cole was so funny. He doesn't like mushy things in his hands so it took him a few minutes to get into. The last picture posted Tavin came along to help Cole eat his cake. So cute!

Thanks to those who made Cole's birthday so great. We love and appreciate you all.

Phoenix Trip

The first part of August my mom, Cole, and I loaded up the car and went to visit my sister Amanda. It was a lot of fun and we miss her again already.

Aunt Amanda and Cole

Cole pondering life

Swimming in the pool. This was the best Cole has ever done in a pool. He usually goes from happy to tears to happy. This time all good moments. I think the really warm water made a huge difference.

Our little Picasso. Cole did his first drawing. :)

Grandma, Aunt Amanda, and Lil' C

Cole bored on the car ride home. Grandma was smart enough to purchase the play table propped on Cole's car seat, it was a blessing. I don't know if I'll ever stop singing the number song on it. It is forever stuck in my head.

Colorado Visitors

I'm playing catch up so I'll have to post more events soon. I know all my readers out there are dying from anticipation to know what we've been doing these last few weeks. Sorry to leave you in suspense. LOL!

So the last weekend of June we had some special visitors from Colorado.... Uncle Glen and Aunt Gloria. Of course with them they brought lots of laughs and good times as usual. They also taught us the greatness of Texas Roadhouse's chili. Yum! We played a new game called 'Man Laws & Woman Rules' it was very entertaining.

Fun Moments

Here are some fun moments that happened this week...

Cole carefully stole his daddy's cell phone while daddy was sleeping on the couch. He was so proud of himself!

Cole received a package in the mail from his Great-Grandaddy and and Great-Granmelinda. It was one of those days where Cole was sick of all his toys so it was a great treat. I let him open the package all by himself. It kept him busy for a good 45 minutes!

Cole still opening the package. This is the "Am I in trouble look?" When he's ripping papers they are usually important so I think he is waiting for the "Cole, no!" response from me.

Finally, we get to the surprise inside... pajamas! Thank you Great-Grandaddy and Great-Granmelinda we can put these to good use.

In this picture...Cole has been playing on the treadmill lately as if it's his own personal stage. As he was entertaining, he slid backwards, and got stuck between the wall and the treadmill. He is so funny!

Fun at the Zoo

Kate, Kayden, my mom, Cole, and I made a trip to the zoo on Monday. It was a lot of fun. I've never been to the zoo around here and I've lived here for 16 years. It's a little pathetic I know. Anyway, we had a lot of fun and saw some pretty neat animals. Cole laid back in his stroller and seemed to have a good time. I think he was more into people watching, instead of looking at the animals. I think next year he'll appreciate the animals more.
