Christmas 2012

Emmy's dreams came true when Santa brought her Caroline for Christmas. She just loves her doll.
 Christmas morning
Emmy bought this poster for Aaron with her own money.
For Christmas, we made the girls their very own hammocks. They each got a complete hammock set up and blow up pillow. We can't wait to use them this summer.
The girls made me these picture boxes out of recycled cereal boxes. I love their creativity.

The Nutcracker

For Emmy's birthday, Aaron took her to see The Nutcracker performed by Ballet West. They loved the production. Emmy later asked me, "Mom can I do ballet until I can learn to do pointe." Goal achieved; I was hoping that seeing a professional ballet would inspire her to stick with her dance classes and work hard.

It was a very snowy day. They loved the adventure.

Emmy can't wait to see The Nutcracker again next year.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I know one day when I finally make all matching awesome stockings, I will miss these ones we have used for so many years. The nice red ones were made by my mother-in-law. I threw together the others as the girls were born. They always make me smile.
With Nana's awesome creative help, Emmy made beautiful 'Let it Snow' tree for the Christmas Tree Lane at school.
Eve with Santa at the ward party. She wasn't so sure about Jolly Old St. Nick.
Early December, we put our shoes out for St. Nick to leave treats and small presents. This tradition goes back to my childhood when I lived in Germany. It's fun to keep traditions going.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer day at preschool.
Emmy with Santa. Alison wouldn't sit on his lap. Maybe next year.
Christmas dresses
Making the annual gingerbread house is always a treat. The girls love to pile the candy on.

For Christmas dinner, I made David a babka. It is traditional Polish bread. My babka was on steroids. It turned out enormous.

Elf on a Shelf

Meet Declan, our Elf on a Shelf. He likes to keep an eyes on the girls to make sure they are being nice to each other. He sits in silly places all over our house. Here are a few of our favorite locations of 2012.
Toasty warm spot.
He always makes us laugh.
Hanging from our mistletoe.
He brought Nutcracker tickets for Emlyn and Aaron.

A Christmas Carol Ballet

The girls performed in A Christmas Carol Ballet in December. They started ballet lessons in August 2012. They have loved ballet so far. They really enjoyed participating in the winter production. Eve was a Christmas sprite, Alison was a super plum fairy, and Emmy was a guest in the party scene. The girls did a great job.
I love this shot of Eve posing for Grandma to take a picture.
We loved having the Hopkinson's join us for the performance.

Drawings & Writings

These are some fun Thanksgiving notes that Emlyn worked on at school and home.

This is the first book Alison wrote and illustrated.

Alison drew this picture of her mom and dad.
Emmy moved to the bunk bed room to share with Alison. This was the sign Alison and Eve drew to celebrate sharing the room together.

Scooter in the Snow

Eve loves to ride Alison's scooter. Every time she hears the garage door open, she is outside on her sister's scooter or her bike in an instant. We had a big snow storm, and while Aaron was trying to shovel the driveway, Eve was trying desperately to ride her scooter in the 6 inches of snow. Eventually she fell down and got snow in her boots, so she gave up this futile endeavor. We had a good laugh at Eve's determined little spirit.

Alison's 5th Birthday

We had a fun PJ/blankie party for Alison's 5th birthday. Alison talked about having a blankie party for a very long time. She loves her pink 'bumpy' baby blanket.
Eve, Autumn Stagg, Ady Myers, Emlyn, Alison, Breck Shepherd
Alison is such a sweet girl. It's hard to believe that she is old enough to go to Kindergarten in the fall. I know Emmy is so excited to have her sister go to school with her, and Alison is getting excited about going to the big girl school also.
Alison's favorites:
Color - purple
Food - avocados, corn dogs, and all treats
Toys - Alison loves to play with her sisters. They love to play kitties, mom and dad, and school. She loves to play with her doll, little princess dolls and dollhouse, and color pictures.
Dance - Alison started ballet in September. She loves to dance around the house.
Family - Alison loves to pick out daddy's tie for church. She likes to echo her sisters and make them mad. She loves to read books and write her name on everything. She has learned how to spell everyone's name in our family.
Music - Alison started the 1st year of Let's Play Music in August. She loves music and playing the tone bells.
School - She attends Giggles N Wiggles Preschool taught by Natalie Davies. Her friends are Ady Myers, Autumn Stagg, and Breck Shepherd. We have a great carpool with our friends.
This Hello Kitty make-up gift from Autumn was Alison's favorite present.
Alison loves her new Cinderella Play-Doh toy from Ady.
Alison decided that she wanted to have icecream sundaes for her birthday treat. So, I bought her a couple of cupcakes for blowing out candles.
Alison loves the new pillow case from Breck.
Alison has always claimed that she will marry her daddy when she gets older. The other day, she said, "First, I will marry daddy. But, if I can't marry daddy, then I will marry Breck."
