| she totally LOVES leo. she asked for him the whole drive up, and made mary stop every few minutes to "hud" aka HUG. then she would point to me where his skin touched her. "gaga!" (and point in excitement). she is so funny. |

| what a very darling, and slow hiker. took us 1.5 hrs to get .7 miles. she loves to stop, pout, rest, drink, snack, look at a leaf or two for some time...climb a small rock... |

| we had quite a full pack for such a small hike. tons of water, some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, jackets, diapers/wipes...you know...but it was pretty heavy. |

So today was a good day. started by getting all the kids bathed and thats a big thing around here. i mean its a lot of work. we had buttermilk waffles for breakfast, and i realized i need to start doubling the recipe all the time, because the kids LOVE them...and i do too. we knew we were going to do a hike with mary and leo today, so we got to work on our jobs for the day early. it took some time but eventually they got done. i decided i should make some snack to take along. i thought pumpkin chocolate chip muffins sounded just right. a bit of a treat, but have some value (fresh whole wheat, and pumpkin). so i was about to scoop them into the muffin tins when i realized i was out of chocolate chips...and milk. and i should have realized cooking spray...so we went to the store. another big thing. i avoid going to the store with all 3 kids like the plague. seriously. so we got home and baked some muffins... then it was almost time for dan to get home so we waited for him (i put isabella down for a nap right when we got home so she could get a little pick me up). it was good to see him. the kids especially have missed him because this week hes left before they are up and come home after they are in bed almost every night. bella keeps asking for "daddy" and getting a little teary eyed. dont worry bella, with any luck it will continue for another 2 months (overtime baby!) and then things will get back to normal. so our hike was great. at first a little chilly but we warmed up quickly and the weather was absolutely perfect. couldnt ask for a better day. not windy, not chilly, not hot, sunny and gorgeous. the colors were music to my soul. it was the best. i just love to soak up a forest and mountains and water of any kind. i wished i had a private home on that lake, and that it was a private lake, and that i owned some kayaks and i could just go out there like i imagined my mom doing in alaska all by myself, and hear absolutely nothing at all. and just enjoy this beautiful earth in silence for a little while. and then go back home and throw rocks with the kids, and have a picnic, and just be completely by ourselves. i would love that. anyways, it was nice being there for a bit. i could have stayed all day i think. abby had a hard time a bit coming down, for the most part she was singing and happy, but she fell several times (from tripping and what not) and she was feeling a little down part of the time. Isabella loved riding in the Boba, i love that carrier! so comfortable and she was happy! and the hike down was SO much faster than the way up! anyways great day! andrew is on fall break until tuesday and thats been sooo nice. not worrying about school AT ALL. well tomorrow Dan and I will be at the Utah game, and i hope its good weather! good night :)
