Secret Paws on Sunday

I Have Been Waiting For This Moment

Earlier this week a package arrived. It was addressed to ME, yet my heartless apes would not let me have it. How rude is that? I did manage to get a quick sniff as the package was cruelly swiped away from me and it smelled familiar. I could smell my nephews, Milo & Alfie!

Sniff, sniff, sniff...

SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF

Aaah! this little parcel smells interesting..

Crikey! lots of interesting little parcels and an envelope addressed to Uncle Whicky Wuudler

This is definately a Secret Paws package from Milo & Alfie!

Gosh! So much stuff! Nip Treats, Cheese Ball Treats, a Jingly Nip Ball and a Nip Mousie with a Jingly Ball on his tail! This was REALLY worth waiting for. What a great haul!

Thank you Milo & Alfie!

Nom, nom, nom!

Uh Oh! The Nip Treats have kicked in, cor! they are strong!
YUM SCHLURP DROOL

Mmmm! I'll just roll around happily amidst these great gifts & the lovely card for a while.
Uh Oh! I see a feline ear down there

Maybe I dreamed it, I'll just have a toke on this Jingly Nip Ball
Uh Oh! I see two feline ears now!

It's Oliver! Maybe if I just stay in the background, out of focus & completely stoned, he won't want in on my stash of nip treats & toys

Huh, Oliver didn't fall for it, look at him sidling up, pretending not to care about my new toys and treats. Oliver, I know what you are up to. Oh well, I'm totally nipped out now, so hey ho..

Didn't take long did it Oliver - you nip addicted, toy thieving, lens hussy. Put your floof away please, lady cats may be viewing. I apologise for Oliver's deficit in the shame department.

Now Gerry is in on the action! Oops, I just remembered, I gave young Milo a lecture on sharing, so I guess I'd better sit back and let my bro's have a share of the Secret Paws Swag

Ok Oliver & Gerry, just make sure you save some for Angel, she won't be pleased if all the treats are gone when she wakes up!

Thank you Milo & Alfie for such a wonderful Secret Paws gift package. You are two truely great Nephews and I am very happy to be your Uncle!

Everycat Wishes You All A Super Sharing Sunday!

Mancat Monday - For The Love Of Mancats

Tabbus Tabbus & Me

Hello to every cat. It's Oliver here.

Just over a week ago, that fine and fun feline Vampy Vic asked cats to tell a love story. I love all cats, but I wanted to tell you all about a cat I loved very much. His name was Tabbus Tabbus - so tabby they named him twice.

Tabbus was living here when I was trapped by my Mum. Tabbus had been trapped once by her too. He had been living the rough, semi-feral life of a tom cat in the village. By the time I came to live inside Tabbus was well established as the lover boy of the house. Tabbus loved every cat and every human.

As you can see the tradition of sitting on top of the shed to purr is a long one here.

Tabbus showed me how things worked in the house. I became his acolyte and very soon we became firm friends. He showed me all the best sunning spots, the best places to watch for birds and mice and, most importantly he showed me that our humans were not a threat and with a little ad lib cuteness, any cat around here could get pretty much whatever they wanted. We used to hang out together all the time.

You'd find us on the bed watching birds fly by outside and...

contemplating life. If a human called us...

...we'd both answer together

"Is that the sound of cat dishes?"

Tabbus was a wise cat, he knew many good things

He would talk to humans all the time. When Tabbus talked, I talked too. Tabbus was a very fit cat, he was never ill. We used to snuggle together in the kitchen, Tabbus would tell humans about our day whilst they cooked dinner.

Best of all though, were the days we spent snoozing on the bed together. Tabbus was a licker like me and we'd wash each other for hours. Sometimes falling asleep in each other's arms mid-lick.

Whilst we slept I used to hang on to my Tabbus, I never wanted to be parted from him.

I loved him so very much.

If ever a cat or human was ill, Tabbus would be there for them. His purr was mighty. Tabbus made everyone feel better about life. He taught me many good cat things about how to make humans smile
He didn't even mind when I used to squash him against the very hot radiator. Tabbus could never be too hot.

Tabbus was the best pal a cat could have.

On 28th December 2005, Tabbus and me were out playing. Suddenly Tabbus ran indoors, yeowling in agony. Our humans immediately rushed him to the emergency vet. They were very frightened and so was I. The vet tried very hard to save my friend, but it was time for Tabbus to go to The Bridge and Tabbus died.

Our humans asked the vet to do a post mortem. The vet found that Tabbus had a very small liver tumour which had suddenly ruptured, so my dear friend and teacher had internally bled to death. The vet found that Tabbus also had tiny secondary lung tumours, so it would not have been long before Tabbus started to suffer.

Maybe it was better this way. I don't know.

All I know is..

...that I miss my happy, loving Tabbus very, very much.

Tabbus was buried under his favourite sunning spot in the garden. This last picture of Tabbus is him dozing happily on that same spot. After we all said goodbye to Tabbus, I sat on that spot every evening for months on end. Waiting for him for him to come chasing moths and bats with me.

On a summer evening you can still find me sitting there.

Everycat would like you all to remember someone you loved today and smile

Wuudlemass Wednesday

For Whicky Wuudler, holiday decorating is a balancing actHow very true that is. Thank you to the very talented and kind girls of Zoolatry for this splendid Christmas portrait. I am hopeful that it will spur our procrastinating apes into getting those decorations down from the loft and allowing we cats to get on with some serious decorating actvities.

Now, for a catch up...

The ever thoughtful Miss Peach gave us this award for giving our support to the Mum of poor Mickey, the cat in Germany who was cruelly shot and sadly had to go to The Bridge

Thank you Miss Peach

Kiddo, that floofy, tuxie mancat, and the myriad and wonderful Creek Cats nominated us for the Lemonade Award. Thank you very much all. The Lemonade Award is given to sites which the giver show either great attitude and or gratitude.

The rules for these awards are:

1. Put the logo on your blog.

2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.

3. Nominate 10 other blogs.

4. Add links to those blogs on yours.

5. Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs

We nominate:
and finally....
Simon the Serious Foster Kitten has a home! ...and what a great home it is too. Simon has been adopted by a friend of the Nurse who rescued him. He is now living in luxury with two great humans, one friendly bunny and some ducks. Simon is now a Welsh Cat, which makes me very happy as my roots are in Wales. He has become much more confident, sleeps in bed with his new humans, is good chums with the bunny and is currently helping out with the Christmas decorations. Simon, we are really happy that you now have the forever home you deserve. We will never forget you.

Gabbi and Ash are still living comfortably at the vets. There has been plenty of interest in each one, but they will only be homed together as they are so closely bonded. Gabbi has become very leggy and Ash is turning into a thickset little silverback. His colouring is changing and he has a cape of white hairs mixed in with the black. The right people will turn up to give them a home, we are very optimistic.

Have a Wicked Wednesday every cat!

Tough Tuxie Tuesday

Gritty MancatNot only is it very mancatly to look like this after three hours of heavy snoring and rolling about on the shed roof, it's also a reminder to my tragic apes that I am my own cat and will style myself exactly how I wish. It's all very well being a sleek, cushion cat when I'm indoors but there are times when I need to get back to my gutter roots. I like to keep it real. I am Wuudler from the block.
Have a tremendous Tuesday every cat!

Chops on Friday

Sixth Photo Meme

A saucepot of Norwegian Foresty goodness Siena (&Chilli) tagged us for the Sixth Photo Meme. Here is the sixth photo from the sixth folder of our photos. It is from November 2007.

Gerry's Tongue
This is a happy accident, since some cats commented the other day that they wanted to see my smooth tongue.

This dud picture was supposed to be a sweet close up portrait of me sat upon the counter, awaiting tea. But I got bored and apes aren't the quickest of creatures, especially decrepit ones such as ours, so the shutter was pressed late and this is what we got. My tongue. This is its story...

When I was handed in to the vets in April 2007, I was very ill with Calici Virus. I was a skinny, stinky, matted bonebag, barely recognisable as a cat. The same Veterinary Nurse who rescued our foster kittens took me on as a sort of derelect fixer-upper and got me sorted out. It was a big sorting out too, six weeks living at the vets. She's a good egg in my book that Nurse. My whole mouth was a horrible hole of abcesses, ulcers and manky teeth rotted below the gum line. My tongue was one big ulcer, it healed, but it was so damaged from ulceration that it healed with no hairs on it. All my teeth were removed over a period of 4 months as every attempt to save them failed. My mouth was that fragile. Once the teeth were out and my mouth healed up, I was put on a daily dose of Interferon to stop the Calici Virus striking me down again.

I can wash myself and keep my coat clean and fragrant with my smooth tongue, but I can't untangle it, so this is where the apes give me a hand. They are still finding out the best way of grooming me as my furs are very fine and long, and without very gentle daily brushings, form the tiniest, most delicate dreadlocks you've ever seen. I've got curly trousers too, but that's for another day.

My skin makes plenty of oil to keep my furs healthy, but without tongue hairs I can't make the oil go down the length of the furs so I can look a bit greasy. I think this is very mancatly actually. It's important that my tiny dreadlocks are controlled because I have a habit of collecting every tiny seed, thorn, insect, twig and even tiny slugs in my furs when I'm out and about. If they stay there, I get knottier close to the skin and scurfy, and that isn't healthy. Monthly baths were tried using coat detanglers but they were not as good as a cat's tongue. Even though the apes were gentle when brushing me, gentle just isn't enough to keep my dreadlocks at bay. Bathing also weakened my fur. So that's been sensibly abandoned and I get to wash myself like a good cat should, with my tongue and I get daily help from the apes using a brush in the rolling motion of a cat tongue. They do try and I like being brushed this way. This Autumn, after a long summer of fun, seeds and increasing dreads, I got the big knock out juice in the vein, so that my thickening winter coat could be combed out properly without causing me any pain or stress. It worked a treat, but I did lose some of my coat. If I had hairs on my tongue, I would be a very long haired cat.

Oliver helps me out and grooms me daily with his massive tongue. It's no chore for him. He loves doing it. He also sleeps with me whenever it's a bit chilly. Oliver is a good buddy to me.

I can't say that my lack of teeth has impeded my life much. I still catch mice and voles. I still catch the occasional bird. My jaws can clamp down hard now that I've no pain. Gumming something to death is just as effective as fanging once you get the technique right. My only complaint is that I can't eat the stuff I kill. Never mind, I can still enjoy the foods the apes provide.

I may not have the smartest furs around, but I'm a happy healthy cat now and my humans think that I'm the bee's knees. That's all that matters.

Now to pass this meme along, if you would like to take part:-
1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.

2. Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.

3. Post it on your blog and tell the story that goes with the picture.

4. Tag 5 other glorious cats to do the same thing.

5. Leave a comment on their blog tellin' them 'bout it.

Happy Licking to all Cats on Friday!

Monday Meme

It's Monday and time to get our Meme on.

We were tagged by Steppa, Eric & Flynn and The Pouponette for the Eight Random Things meme. We will take two things each.

Oliver It took my humans one whole year to trap me. I'd sit and stare from the bushes or fence, I wouldn't even feed, then I'd be gone for three weeks at a time. I was a canny young feral tom with a big range. Now I'm a home lovin' camera hussy.
My miaow is a tiny squeak. It gets me what I want so who needs a macho miaow?
.
Gerry
My tongue is totally smooth like silk. I'm an original see.
I am named Gerry because when I was handed in to the vets, I was in such a manky state the Nurses thought I was 9000 years old and rather rudely named me Gerry as short for Geriatric.

Angel I sleep by my Mum's head every night and chatter if the duvet isn't arranged just right.
When I was netted with my brother Thomas at ten weeks old, I bit through my human's thumb, right down to the bone. But he didn't let us go. I'm glad about that.

Whicky Wuudler

I paddle the air with my back paws when I'm dreaming about stamping on moles I have caught. I can open a fuud bin that has locking clips on the lid, and do it quietly too.

We are rather late to this meme, so if any cat wants to do it, consider yourselves tagged. We love learning all about you cats of the world. We have got all behind with everything at Everycat due to the recent guests. But now the apes don't have all that fluffy, kitteny nonsense going on to distract them, they can get to making posts about us and catching up...

Team Tabby gave us this pretty Butterfly Award. Thank you Mindy & Moe. Dana & The Creek Cats gave us this Sharing The Love Award. Thank you all.

We wish every cat a Magnificent Monday!

A Thank You on Tuesday

Thank you to everyone who left such kind messages for the kittens.
It was heartwarming to read them and cheered us all up whilst our humans were busily wiping away kitten snot. Happily we can report that all three kittens are now over the little re-outbreak of flu and are restored to full kitteny health. Here they are...

Gabbi wants you to know that she loves the Pawparazzi and luxurious living befits her. Her tummy is better now and her eye surgery site is settling down beautifully.

Simon is still a little serious but his eye is much better and he has really enjoyed learning how to relax. He knows he will be a handsome mancat one day.

Ash loves humans even more now and has learned that sleeping under the duvet with humans is a very good hobby for a kitten. He is delighted to be snot free.

This has been a big reminder for our humans of just how much work fostering rescued kittens is. They have asked me to shout out all the kitten and cat fosterers everywhere for their hard work and dedication in helping out rescued felines in need.

Now, time for a veritable tsunami of kitten pictures...

One pile of sleep

Gabbi lunges for the camera strap.

Simon practices his meezer red laser eyes

Ash decides it is time to go slightly bonkers.

Gabbi tests out the playability of a sweety wrapper...

...but decides that sharpening her claws on human legs is more fun.

Gabbi investigates a toilet roll tube whilst Ash sees a photo opportunity

Ash has a nosey at the camera.

Simon ponders his future as a handsome young mancat.

Gabbi and Simon rummaging about amidst their favourite paper bags.

Simon considers carefully who to pounce on next.

Ash is smiling because he has decided that being cosy is a good thing. He will use this smile to hypnotise his future humans.

Simon relaxes. For Simon, who was a worried little soul a week ago, relaxing is a big thing.

Gabbi thinks that Ash & Simon have been asleep for long enough..

...but decides to save the attack for later. Ash insists that Gabbi must be his pillow.

Gabbi has her eye on you!

Yesterday lunchtime, our humans took Gabbi, Ash & Simon back to the Vets. They are ready for rehoming now and will remain there, marketing themselves to the clients, until a good home is found for each of them. They were installed in a brand new (but as yet, not equipped) heated consulting room as their base. The Nurse who rescued them had made sure that they had lots of good, cosy beds, dens, boxes to play in and a shed load of toys. She will make sure that the kittens only go to homes that are experienced with felines and have an understanding of kittens with health issues.
The Nurse was very pleased to see that all the kittens had put on weight and grown, despite having had the snots and tummy issues. She worked very hard when these kittens were rescued and it's a testament to her nursing skill and compassion that they survived at all. We had the easy part in fostering them. In a few weeks we will be able to show you some pictures of the state these little ones were in when they were rescued.
Our humans were sad to say goodbye to the kittens, but will be visiting them again (and again) as they are just around the corner from our home. There will be more kittens to foster from the hoarding situation in the future so it looks like the rest of us had better get used to being neglected.

We've been pretty relaxed about not being allowed into the bedroom to meet the kittens. Gerry has touched noses with Simon via the window (no actual touching) Oliver sat on the outside window ledge, gazing in upon the kittens and licking his lips, he was besotted and really wanted to get in the room to give them all a good licking. Angel happily spent time she would usually spend in HER bedroom, asleep in various cat beds on the sofa and me, Wuudler, I gave the kittens some good puffy sniffs under the bedroom door, providing them with some tuition in how to avoid taking their medicine. Gerry managed to slither past human legs to get into the bedroom but was so shocked he ran straight out. He also had a game of paper-bag-under-the-door with Gabbi. Oliver poked his floofy chops around the door once, just to check all was well.

We have earned ourselves some salmon for this kitten enduring patience I tell you.

Humans take note.

We hope every cat has a Terrific Tuesday!
