Fun Times

Soccer Fun

Emma going in for a shot.

Joshua made the block.

Dispute over a shot. Joshua was admitting that he didn't make the shot and Emma was trying to insist he did. A little backwards!

Joshua going for a shot.

I just love, love, love it when my kids go outside and play so good together. Joshua, Emma and Caleb have been on this soccer kick for a week now. They go out and try to make goals on each other. Caleb is always the goalie on one side. Kinda unfair that he never gets to kick, but he doesn't seem to mind. This is good for them to get out there and exercise. And the best thing is they are not fighting! YEY!

Piano Performances

These are the pictures I was trying to upload earlier. They are from the 'family performance'. The kids just have to have their picture taken.

Scott playing his three songs.

Joshua had three songs that he wanted to play too. Look at that posture!

Emma doing her little songs.

Caleb attempting the piano. His first song went on and on and really wasn't anything. :)

The Latest

First of all...is anyone else having a problem uploading pics? I couldn't upload some pictures. Oh well. On with what's been going on...

* I feel like I am being neglectful. To my blog that is. I opened a facebook account so I could see my friends FB page. For a long time I didn't do anything with my FB and didn't really have an interest. So after much prodding from my friend I decided to try and figure FB out. Now I'm a little hooked. It's been fun re-connecting with friends I haven't talked to in years.

* The kids are excited that the sun is shining more often and it is getting a little warmer out. Mom is definitely excited for the sun to be out as well.

* With all the illnesses going around we are doing decent. Mom, of course, has been the most sick. I have finally been feeling better with my breathing problems. They seem to have gone away. Now it's just getting over the head/chest cold. Almost back to normal. Then Joshua started coughing. But I've heard a lot worse that is going around and am grateful we don't have any of that!

* A couple of weeks ago Scott and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary. That seems like such a long time!

* Scott, Joshua and Emma brought report cards home not too long ago. Scott has quite a few A's and B's. Joshua is really improving in all areas and has a couple A's as well. 4th grade is still doing a lot of the Improved, Needs Improvement stuff. Emma is still struggling a little bit but is working really hard and is improving too. Scott (dad) has been teaching Caleb how to read and he is doing a great job. He has even moved onto Dr Seuss books. I think he'll be ready for Kindergarten in the fall.

* Caleb still asks everyday if it's March 31st. That's his birthday. He's pretty excited. I will be excited too since he hopefully won't ask anymore when his birthday day is coming.

* The kids have been having a blast with the Wii. I still think they are in shock that we even got them one. I'm so glad that we did. Scott and I have a blast too, I'll admit it. It really is a little bit of a work out. Now if I could just get Scott to let me give the kids the Guitar Hero that I got them for Christmas. He says they don't deserve it. Most of the time I guess I agree. But hey kids aren't going to be perfect. And if you're reading this and your kids are perfect leave your number so we can talk and you can let me know how you do it!

* A while back Joshua thought it would be a good idea to teach Emma and Caleb how to play the piano. Scott and Josh have taken lessons for over a year now. My brilliant son decided that he would charge for his services. Caleb is a very generous boy and offered all the money he got for Christmas...$35. Of course Joshua took the money and thought he was well worth the money. I can't remember how much he swindled out of Emma. Needless to say I made Josh give the money back and of course the lessons stopped. But during the time of mom having no clue that he was taking payment, Emma and Caleb learned a few basics on the piano. Caleb can play a little 'song' from one of the beginner books. Emma has learned a little about notes and piano from music class at school. So she can play a little too. Joshua offered to 'teach' dad how to play the piano as well...for free. Like dad would pay him! Dad is getting pretty good. His big idea was to have a family performance day and they put in on the calendar for last Sunday. Everyone played something. Caleb got up there and started plunking away and then played his little 'song'. Emma played what she could and then Josh and Scottie played their songs from piano lessons. They have gotten pretty good. Scott played his song and is very pleased with himself. And even I played a few songs. (I taught myself a little a while back)...I'm not that good. Now Scott feels like we should have a family talent performance once a month. He wants us to play the piano, sing or dance. Um...I don't exactly do any of those very well and don't think it's a very good idea! The kids are all for it. Maybe I could just gather them around the sewing machine and make them watch me sew! :)

Another Rag Quilt

I made this rag quilt for my friend that had a baby girl. I have procrastinated way too long at getting this done! It was so fun to pick out girly fabric. The picture just doesn't show how cute this really is. I think there is definitely something wrong with my camera. The solid squares are actually a light purple. It turn out nice. These blankets are so much fun to make and really quick. I finished it in a couple of hours. Hope she likes it!

Fun Morning

So we woke up this morning with a couple of inches of snow on the ground. As soon as the kids went off to school and Caleb finished his breakfast he ran off to get dressed. I asked him where he was going and he said 'outside'. So we bundled him up and off he went. He LOVES the snow. It doesn't matter if there is only a little bit, he wants to be out in it. He thought it would be fun to run around in big swirly circles so his foot prints are all over the yard. He also jumped on the snow covered trampoline. He had a blast! Lucky he went out early because it was all gone by afternoon. If it's gonna snow I wish it would dump a bunch!

Scott's New Calling

Are you up for a long story? Well here it goes...not this past week-end but the one before, Scott decided we should go out and look at some houses (vacant ones). So we went on that Saturday and saw about five houses. Then we went back out on Sunday after church and looked at nine more. Two being the two we really liked the day before. One of them has been on my mind ever since. Like the furniture is all arranged and everything. Not like our house has come close to selling. But I have been feeling lately that maybe it would. It was fun...I love looking at houses. So we get home and there is a message on our machine. It's the Stake executive secretary, he wants to meet with Scott and me. So Scott calls back and they set up an interview for Thursday. That is like torture to make someone wait that long! We pretty much already knew what the calling would be. Scott was the 1st counselor in the Elders quorum already. So then we get all confused thinking he shouldn't get called to a calling like that if we have a for sale sign in our yard! We are trying to better live within our means and sell this house. So we wait four excrutiating days (for Scott, not so much me) for our interview. We go in and of course Scott is called to be the new Elders Quorum president. Scott was fully expecting the stake president to ask for a time commitment or to take our house off the market to serve, but he didn't. He just told us that if Scott would serve and we would continue to pay our tithing the Lord would provide. So now we just need to be faithful and put our trust in the Lord that everything will work out for the best.
