Constitution Day

Constitution Night is a big deal at American Heritage. The Constitution of the United States is what our country is all about. It's about our freedom. I am so grateful my kids can learn so much about our country, can celebrate our Founding Fathers and for their fight and love for the country which we are so lucky to live.

We stared tonight with the Pledge of Allegiance from the Nellis Airforce Base Colorguard.

From the first day of school the kids start learning about the Constitution. Each of them memorized the Preamble of the United States and were able to recite it here tonight. They also write their own "Class Constitution" and each child was called up to sign theirs.

Ella's class recieved a letter from Senator Harry Reid stating that "The Constitution of the United States of America stands today as our Nation's most sacred and inspired document. The Constitution is the basis for our laws, our rights, and our responsibilites as Americans. It is a gift for which we all should be grateful." He also thanked the class for doing their part to recognize the accomplishments, and to learn about what makes our country so great.

Schools out for SUMMER!!

School is finally out for my girls at least. This year has been quite a hard year for all of us. The first semester went fairly smooth but once we got into 3rd quarter we were all ready to through in the towel. We had many projects and reports due, memorizations to learn and did I mention projects? We had from Europe projects to State reports and we did 3 science projects, and plenty more.

I can not be more happier for my 3 girls right now. They worked very hard this year and they kicked butt! 

Emmalie made the A-B Honor Roll 3 quarters out of the 4 and that is a huge feat at her school. 

She had a busy year, she was in a few school plays, and sang a duet with a friend in the Christmas program. She learned all the countries in Europe even the Lakes and Mountain Ranges. She is a great speller and math is coming along. All her teachers say she is a joy to have in class and will help out when ever needed. 

Zoe's Class recited the Gettysburg Address at their awards assembly. They have been working on memorizing this for the last quarter, it was pretty tough but they all got it! 

This is Zoe's sweet teacher Mrs. Olsen. Zoe received an award for Outstanding Citizenship this year. Her teacher also wrote a letter to each one of her students, this is what she said about Zoe:

Zoe is a good example of a peace maker. There has never been a time that she had a conflict with anyone. Zoe seems to take most things in stride and shows good effort in all that she does. Zoe has a kind heart and always tries to do what is right. Thanks for bringing the spirit of choosing the right into our class.

    

Mrs. Harmon will always have a special place in Olivia's heart, she was lucky to have Mrs. Harmon for 2 years. Mrs. Harmon knew Olivia to a tee, she knew how she ticked. Olivia has made a lot of progress this year in reading and is a whiz at math. Olivia got an award for Outstanding Creativity. All her papers she brought home always had some kind of colorful drawing on them. Olivia also started to learn cursive handwriting which she loved.

I am so proud of all my girls, they each had a great year!

D-BACKS

Jake has been waiting for this day for a while. He has always said he wanted to play high school ball and tonight his dreams are starting to become reality. Jake made the Summer Legion Baseball Team for Desert Oasis High School. He will be playing teams throughout the valley 3 to 4 times a week from now until the end of July plus practices in between. Tonight was the first game and what a difference between little league and high schooll ball there is. These boys can throw hard, and hit even harder. They have moves I have never seen. It is so fun to watch.

So for now you can find me on the baseball field rooting for my #1 player and working on my farmers tan!!!

kindergarten memories

Today was the last day of kindergarten for Ella. This year has been full of many adventures for Ella. New School, new friends, new teacher new way of learning things and homework! At the beginning it was a little rough for Ella but with great friends and great teachers everyone rallied for Ella making her first year at American Heritage a great one.

Ella on her first day of school. New hair cut, new clothes, missing her bottom two teeth, and so excited to be going to school with her sisters.

 

AHA had there first annual math bee and was it fun. 

Plymouth Plantation Day is a great tradition at American Heritage. All the kids dress up as either Pilgrims or Indians, they do fun games and have a big feast at the end of the day.

Every month the kids were able to go on a field trip to different places in town. This trip was to the Las Vegas Zoo. We were able to see many chickens, a few monkeys, and some goats. The best part was when the zoo keeper feed the lions a treat. She put the chicken high up enough to where the lions had to get up on there hind legs to get it. It was amazing to see how tall the lions are. They were huge, the kids where in Ahh. 

Ella's sweet teacher Mrs. Hepworth. She was the right match for her this year. She has the most patience than any one I know. She loved her class and I know she will miss them. Ella would always come home with something nice to say about her. 

Ella brought home this binder full of fun things she learned this year. A few spelling tests, math worksheets, art projects and pictures of her class mates were some of the items included. 

Here is Ella today, still that same great smile, her hair a little longer, teeth have grown in and is determined to do everything perfectly. She is adding and subtracting, reading, spelling and learning about our Four Fathers. These days she has left the car with a FAB-U-LOUS smile on her face and telling me good bye with a kiss and a hug. Today Ella was recognized for being a wonderful leader, helper and friend. Way to go Ella!!  

Hey Batter Batter, Hey Batter Batter... SWING!

Lately you can find the Frye family at the baseball fields watching our 2 star players play ball. Jake has found a love for baseball and is coming out of his shell and working hard to become a great baseball player. He is determined to make the baseball team over at Desert Oasis next year as he enters into high school. With much determination and a lot of practice I believe he can do it. Jake has started pitching this year and has done a great job. It makes me a little nervous sitting in the bleachers watching him, but I think that is the case with any postion.




Batter Up! Jake has been known to smash the ball over the fence for a home run during practice,hopefully he will get one during a game.:)

Onto my little t-baller. Gabe has been waiting to play ball like his big brother for a long time. He has watched Jake for years playing baseball,he is so excited to finally be able to play. This was Gabes first game,all the boys had to be pointed in the right direction to go to 2nd base. It was so funny a couple of times we found the boys running past 2nd into the outfield. Classic.

Gabe looks like a pro already.

This is my favorite picture of the bunch. Jake can be so tender at times. You can see Gabe listening so intently on what Jake is saying to him. Love it!

Egg-celent

For Easter this year we had a last minute change of plans. Our original plan was to come home on the Friday before Easter and spend the weekend with close friends and family but instead Mike and Scott missed us so much they decided to head up to the mountains with all of us and have Easter at the cabin. This was a great idea, however, whoever knows me well would be shocked if I said I had all my Easter shopping done before hand. Well, no such luck but with procrastination brings great times. Right? On the Friday before Easter my sister drove all the way into St. George to get our shopping done. It was a nice break away from the cabin and the kids. We were able to get everything we needed and then some. It was a great day

Saturday came the egg decorating and cake making. I knew I would not be able to get a picture of Jake coloring Easter eggs ( I think he only colored 1 at the most) but I did decorate one for him.

This picture is the only one I got of Olivia decorating her eggs (I should have shut the blinds:( darn it!)

I love how Ella is concentrating here. I also love how you can see her green hands. Ella just gets down and dirty with everything she does. There was no waiting for the egg dipper, she just went for it.

This is the end result of our day, Gabe passed out while we were making our traditional Easter Bunny Cakes. (notice the frosting on his chin)

These cakes are a tradition in our family. My mom has been making these for as long as I can remember, they were passed on from her mom as well. My kids look forward to them every year. This year all I did was cook the cakes the kids did the rest. They turned out pretty cute.

The Easter Bunny did make it to our cabin. The kids were a little worried that he would not find us. AHH! Nice and relaxing weekend.

Spring Break

Spring break could not get here fast enough for me this year. With all the reports and projects due this last quarter I thought time was litterally standing still. But as you can see we made it and we are all well rested due to a well deserved escape to our cabin for the break. I grabbed my sister and we were off on a road trip to Cedar Mountain. Myself, my sister and 10 kids.


The kids were so excited to be in the mountains. The first thing they did was put on their snow clothes. They pretty much played in the snow the whole time we were up there, it was wonderful.

Jake even pulled out the snow mobile and rode the kids around on it.

Here is Amberlie and Olivia getting ready to sled down a hill, a couple of times they would be going a little too fast and catch a little air. It freaked us moms out a little but these girls just laughed and laughed.

Jake made a huge snow cave that the kids thought was the coolest, even our dog would go inside.

On day 3 we woke up to a nice surprise, It snowed! This picture was taken from our portch. Isn't it just beautiful? All the new fallen snow everywhere. AHH, it's just so peaceful and quiet and relaxing. I just love how the snow sticks to the trees.

Zoe loved to play in the snow but, I think she loved staying bundeled up by the fire a little bit more.

After a fresh new snow fall you have to make snow angels!

And have snowball fights.

All the kids had so much fun this week, they would play in the snow until their poor little hands and feet were all wet and freezing. As for my sister and I, we stayed in our P.J.'s for 2 days strait! We had time to catch up on things, made easy "kid" food while the dads we back in Vegas working and were able to watch chick flicks until the wee hours in the morning. It was a nice get away!
