Monday Madness!

Family Home Evening doesn't have to be a hassle. Sometimes between work, kids, homework and dinner, there just doesn't seem like there is time left in the day to prepare a lesson!

Here are a few simple ideas to try this week:

  • Have a family testimony meeting
  • Memorize the Articles of Faith
  • Write a story together
  • Watch a video on the homepage of www.lds.org
  • Have a family game night
  • Make a family goal chart
  • Study a Prophet by printing his picture and biography from www.lds.org
  • Learn how to sew on a button, wash clothes, iron, cook a pancake or wash mirrors.
  • Adopt a grandma or grandpa from your church or neighborhood
  • Learn to conduct music from www.lds.org

Throw this together with a few songs, a few scriptures and you're set!

Also, don't feel like you have to go to huge lengths to prepare a nutritous dinner for your family. Here is a super quick recipe my family loves. It's perfect for the colder weather we have been having and takes less than 5 minutes preparation.

Crockpot Nachos

4-5 Frozen Chicken Breasts
1 Can Drained Black Beans
1 Can Drained Canned Whole Kernel Corn
1 (15 oz) Jar of Salsa
1 (8 oz) Pkg. Cream Cheese

Cooking Directions

1. Take 4-5 frozen, yes forzen, boneless chicken breasts and put into crock pot.
2. Add corn, black beans and jar of salsa. Dump it right on top of chicken.
3. Cover and cook in crock pot on high for 4-5 hours or until chicken forks apart.
4. Add 1 package of cream cheese (just throw it on top) and let sit for about 1/2 hour.

This is great served over rice, tortilla chips or Frito's (my favorite). Top with shredded cheddar cheese and everyone will love it!

Visiting Teaching Soup (chicken veggie alfredo soup)

Ladies...
Here is the yummy soup we served on Sunday. This is so simple and I have made it into a crock pot soup...which I love even more just for that reason alone!

1 c chopped broccoli
1/2 c chopped carrots
1/2 c chopped onions
1/2 c diced red bell pepper
1 garlic clove, pressed
1 can chicken broth
2 c cooked diced chicken
1 TBS snipped basil
1 jar Alfredo Sauce
grated fresh parmesan cheese (optional)

take your first 5 ingredients and saute in a little bit of butter or olive oil, add to crockpot stir in chicken, broth, and alfredo sauce. Turn your crock pot on low and cook for at least 4 hours. Serve with cheese on top
then of course...
ENJOY!

Here's a tip Wednesday!

I am a slacker and please forgive me for that! I didnt do a FHE post this week... why...because I forgot. Simple as that. However I think I have a great tip for your Wednesday...I know its late but hey better late then never...so here it is...
take a cookie sheet and turn it verticle or leave it horizontal...its up to you. You can can prop this up on your counter and with magnets put note cards, coupons, messages, recipes, or even pictures on it. It keeps the clutter off the counters which I hate! How cute right!?! Guess what else...you can write whats for dinner on it with chalk or a dry erase marker...FUN! Even better...give one to each of your kids and you can display their art work, homework, or important reminders for school. The ideas are endless!
Have fun...who knew cookie sheets had so many purposes!?!
