Last week, Darin and I went to girl's camp as 4th year leaders. It was a new and fun experience to go with Darin to girl's camp. I have gone many times, but never with my husband (boys don't usually go to girls camp- ha ha). He has come on bishop's night as a counselor, but this time he was there the whole time.
On Monday, we drove up to camp and unpacked and then headed right out on our hike up Mt. Meg. It was a challenging hike and we ended up with the girls struggling with asthma at the back. Darin escorted a few back who decided they had enough. So, I turned back and hiked the second half again. I was the 4th year camp photographer, so it was the best place to get pictures of the girls on the hike. It was beautiful on the way up the mountain.
Monday night, we did a skit. Darin was Gomer, a soldier learning to "'Crush' the enemy." (Our assigned color was orange, and the whole theme was A.R.M.Y.- A Righteous Mormon Youth). It was quite funny. He had to keep crushing 'Crush' soda cans.

On Tuesday, we went rapelling. I took a picture of each of the girls as they went down and then decided I wanted to go. President Wright, a member of the stake presidency was there helping and he relentlessly teased me about "This is dangerous" and, "Are you sure you really want to do this" and "That first step is terrifying!" So, then I did it- like a pro I might add. I just hopped down quickly like I had been doing it forever. It was easy. And it was awesome! Then, President Wright went right after me and came out saying, "Oh! That first step was TERRIFYING!! I kind of feel bad about how much I teased you now." Ha ha! I thought that was hilarious. Now, I can't stop thinking about how fun it was. I really want to go rappelling again. SOON! Yep. You may not know this about me. I'm a rappeller. And I'm good at it. ha ha. Don't you love the goofy helmet? There was a cooler one, but someone else was wearing it right then. Oh well, it was super fun!
Tuesday night was Bishop's night. We went down to main camp and got to see Megan and Hayley (and Victoria Jensen who stayed with us for 3 weeks and got to go to camp with the girls- mostly Hayley). It was fun to go down to main camp and see everyone in the ward, especially our girlies.
The girls thought the bishop's shirt was quite funny. It has his face on it. It really was pretty funny. It ended up being quite a late night, but sleeping felt so good after that.
Wednesday, we took the girls shooting. After shooting, we were supposed to go canoing/kayaking, but the reservoir was closed due to a forest fire. That was a bummer. The girls (and leaders) were quite surprised that I had never shot a gun before. (But, just like how I never rappelled before, I was quite good at it right away- ha ha). We had assault rifles and 22s and pistols. I hit the target several times.
I know. Crazy right? My first time and I'm pretty good at it. After that, we did explosions. It wasn't me doing it, but it was still cool.
Wednesday, all of main camp went home, including the girls. The 4th years (us) stayed an extra day because the 4th year is the high adventure year and the stake president wanted to keep it the same every year. Sometimes, main camp will be longer and it wouldn't be fair if 4th year was longer sometimes and shorter some times, so it will be consistent.
Wednesday night, I was in charge of the devotional. I obsessed about it the whole time, and then I woke up Wed. morning and decided I needed to a power point presentation for it. So, it was busy and time consuming, but worth it. I guess I will post that on a different post.
Thursday, we just packed up and went home and then cleaned out the rental vans and returned them.
Then, I spent quite a while on the slideshow. Hopefully it will work on this...
Well, I am just going to post this (finally) without the video. It is what was holding me back from getting this done.
We had fun at camp. It was my first time being at camp with my husband. ha ha ha.
