Leftover Turkey and R-Controlled Vowels

My hubby bought a deep fryer last week.  I have been telling him, "NO WAY!" for years but he convinced me with two simple words...turkey fryer. I caved.  I like turkey anyway but I LOVE fried turkey even more. So on Sunday, a couple days after said turkey fryer arrived, we fried up an 11 pound turkey just to test it out. It worked great and we ended up with plenty leftover turkey. What do you do with leftover turkey?  My family usually made turkey sandwiches or turkey soup but I am going to show you something totally different!

Thai Turkey Pizza
recipe adapted from Budget Bytes

pizza dough (not pictured)

For the sauce:
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4cup hoisin sauce
1/2 tsp. siracha
1 inch fresh, grated ginger
1/4 tsp of fresh garlic
1/4 cup hot water

For the toppings:
1 medium to large turkey breast (cooked and cubed)
1 - 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
1 small green bell pepper, sliced
2 green onions, sliced

More toppings after pizza is cooked:
chopped parsley
chopped peanuts
Parmesan cheese
remaining peanut sauce (thin it out with more water)
sweet chili sauce (not pictured)

You can use whatever pizza dough recipe you would like.  The original recipe from Budget Bytes calls for naan bread but I chose to use this recipe to make a quick pizza dough from Sugar Dish Me

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees.
(if you have a pizza stone let
that preheat in the oven)
Make the dough.
Make the sauce.
 Roll out the dough.
Spread the sauce.
Put on the toppings.

Bake the pizza for 15 minutes.
Top with chopped peanuts, parsley, Parmesan cheese, remaining peanut sauce, and sweet chili sauce.

Cut and EAT!

Now isn't that something different for Thanksgiving leftovers?!

My Truth Monday

Over at "Sunny Days in Second Grade" I read about Denise's holiday disasters...and now whenever I think about sweet potatoes I'll be thinking about her story.  Hilarious!

For my holiday disaster...I don't recall the holiday but I do recall we were at my mother in law's house and the kids in the family were making dinner for the parents.  I was making some packaged potato au gratin...not hard to do...just follow the directions.  Well it turned out really watery but it tasted fine until...I went to season it with a little pepper. The lid popped off and the entire contents of the pepper shaker dumped into the potatoes. Well my husband's family was so nice and ate them anyway but I did notice them stifle a few coughs from eating all that pepper. So that's my holiday food disaster...what's yours?  Can't wait to hear it!

I updated one of my TPT products and added a new one this past weekend. Click on the pics below to check them out. You can see some other updates that I mentioned Friday here.

I'm Addicted

Earlier this week someone contacted me on Teachers Pay Teachers...they wanted me to make something for them...EEEEEEK!!! I was so excited!  So I made a power point that includes words with short vowel, blend, and digraph sounds.  I had been researching around about how to make my products more appealing.  So I took the leap with this new product and now I am addicted.  I have updated all of my other phonics power points...and a few other things. Now I'm not saying my addiction is a bad thing but somebody around here better get the dishes done...so I think I'll take the weekend off...maybe. I've had this freebie on my blog before but with my updating addiction I added three more worksheets for you! Click the pic to go get yours!

And to check out the other victims of my updating addiction click on any picture below and it'll take you right to it!
