Lookin Good

A few years back John and I hosted an ugly Christmas Sweater Party. It was fantastic; we made a Christmas craft, played Christmas carols on my chimes, ate cookies, drank hot coco and wassail, and took a "family picture" of all in our fabulous digs.

Because of Mr. Tullis's crazy school/final schedule I have not been able to have my beloved party for the past two years. I was optimistic this would be the year it would make a come back but alas my cousin is getting married on the one day available.

Which brings me to my point, last Friday night was our church Christmas party, John had a final from 6:30 -9:30 pm (I know right?) so I would be going solo. That morning I was telling him I didn't know what I would wear. He then, in a moment of brilliance, suggested I wear one of my new ugly Christmas sweaters. I called up a few friends and convinced them to join in on the fun. Thanks guys for humoring me.

Behold the sweaters....

Amy Jo, Gavin, Me, & Chelise
* while we were taking this picture an older lady came and took a picture with her camera...she thought we all looked so good.*

I really went all out. Leggings, Christmas tree earrings, matching red & green penguin socks with black flats. Some people knew it was a joke, others (60 yrs. +) thought I looked cute, and a few were confused or too embarrassed to look at me-SUCCESS

Get your sweaters ready now because next year, my friends, our party will be off the hook!

Guess Who Got Engaged?

My Sister Kerilynn and her BF now FIANCE Cory!
Yay! Yay! and more Yay!
I was the second person called-I'm honored.
I couldn't be happier for them! I've always felt like Cory was a member of the family (they've been together forever); it's nice that it's finally official.
BTW: Happy Birthday KL ( he proposed on her 25th b-day, 12/10)

LeeElle + Chocolate Milk = Happy

I love chocolate milk. One of the best things about attending/living close to BYU is the easy access to the best drink on earth- BYU Creamery chocolate milk. I have often referred to it as the nectar of the gods it's so good. Every time I go back to Utah I get my drink on. There is no other chocolate milk that compares. The distance created by moving to CA a few years ago was almost too much to bear, how was I to survive without my beloved chocolate milk?
Enter Lucerne/Vons Chocolate milk.
My grandpa Jex taught me that if you have to take big horse pills it best accompanied by a glass of chocolate milk and I agree. It was then that I was introduced or reacquainted after many years to Lucerne.
It was thick, it was creamy, and oh so chocolaty, in fact it may rival my beloved BYU chocolate milk. I felt blasphemous for even allowing such thoughts to cross my mind.
My aunt recently came back from Provo and brought with her a gallon of my old friend. John and I seized the opportunity to lie our curiosity to rest.

And the victor is.....
LUCERNE!
The vote was unanimous. 4-0 for Lucerne. And I'll have you know both my Uncle Steve and I are connoisseurs of chocolate milk. I had mixed emotions about the result but have decided to look at the glass as half full. I am able to go to VONS whenever I want and BYU is still delicious and can be a treat when I go to the beehive state.

A Day of Freedom

**still catching up 0n the blog**

I got the OK to travel down to Anaheim on the 15th of November as long as I was in the passenger seat lying down to go to my brothers water polo game. I had to sit the whole game (1 hr.) and not be my normal loud cheering self, yes it was difficult but I do have self-control, shocking I know.

The world coming to an end
This just happened to be the same day that Orange County was burning.

Weston's team (Long Beach City College) was competing in the southern section finals. They took second after losing to my alma mater Golden West (I told you Wes, you should have gone to GWC)

NOT COOL & COOL

NOT COOL:

So apparently on 11/7 I was having contractions which caused part of my placenta to detach, hence the awesome bracelet.

COOL: The hide-a-toilet in the hospital room.

NOT COOL:
BEDREST (for 2 weeks)
(I was not worried at all during this whole debacle. I was calm I knew that everything would be OK however I lost is when I was told I would be on bed rest. Honestly, with the exception of the baby not being OK this is the worst thing that I could have been told.)

COOL:

  • A wonderful mother and mother-in-law who each came for a week to take care of me and keep me company.
  • Fabulous friends who brought yummy lunches, dinners, and snacks but best of all good company and conversation.
  • I can go back to work and slowly ease back into normal activities. I still have to take it easy though.

VERY COOL: A big healthy baby still in utero

Fomalhaut b: An Observation (by John)

"Marking a milestone in the search for Earth-like planets elsewhere in the universe, two teams of astronomers have parted the curtains of space to take the first pictures in history of planets orbiting stars other than our sun." - Los Angeles Times

Fomalhaut b

This Fomalhaut b is a little disconcerting to me. Anybody else think it looks a little too familiar?

It Was A Nice Day For A White (& Green & Yellow) Wedding

Last weekend was spectacular because...

I spent time with these people...
The Tullis Family (minus 3)
...Because these two got married...

Mr. & Mrs. Vivrette (John's cousin and his new bride who we absolutely adore)

**Carol looked stunning, Jason wasn't too shabby either**

I loved the flowers. Carol made them. I'm not sure of the exact process but I believe it involves knitting and washing the item so it shrinks. Regardless they were so crafty and added a touch of the bride and grooms taste to the wedding.(Please forgive the pictures they did not turn out well, hopefully you'll get the idea)

It was a beautiful wedding! They had yummy Indian food and their wedding cake was a tower of little tea cakes that were to die for, (lucky for me they came from a bakery in Burbank, and yes I'll be stopping by), not to mention they tore up the dance floor for their first dance. Yay for weddings and being with family!

Stayin Alive

Our good friends Kimmi and Casey hosted a murder mystery dinner party a little over a week ago and invited the Mr. and me.

This party was off the hook! It had a 70's theme and we were all given characters to dress up as.

Casey= John Revolting
Kimmi=Diana Russ
Gavin=Bruce Leap
Amy Jo= Gloria _____? feminine activist of the 70's
John=Andy Warthog
LeeElle=Lyza M.

Everybody came in rockin costumes...

The hosts of the party

They had the best wigs...and in case you were wondering that is Casey's real chest hair (a trimmed and tamed version of it mind you-according to him)Yes he has a match in his mouth.

Can we just say freakishly tall?

I heart sequins! My costume suggestions were a mini skirt, dark tights, and stage make-up. I was extremely proud of my leather snake skin mini skirt. It was the deal of the day at the local thrift store. Let's also give credit to the rad top, leggings (which I swore I would never wear when they started coming back in style but they are so dang comfortable), the manybengaled bracelets and gold high heels. You can't tell but I have some awesome eyeliner on too, only fitting when you're suppose to represent Broadway star Lyza Minelli.
John is totally sportin the polyester pants with tennis shoes, turtle neck and corduroy sport coat. He let his inner artist come out in full view; He was hilarious!

Nice hair, honey.

Gavin had the best accent of the night and I can't get over how dang cute Amy Jo looked pregnant belly and all.

We all had a really great time. Too bad we didn't get a group picture. Thanks Kimmi for putting it all together!
