Sweet P

...we just couldn't resist! Miss Penelope is our newest foster doggie! She is 5 years old and much more calm than our last 4 puppies! As you can see, she has a beautiful white coat and she is just as sweet as can be (that's why her nickname is Sweet P)!
She loves to be pet more than anything, but she is not a big fan of looking at the camera for pictures...we'll work on that!

Silly Kix!

The other morning I had a mishap with my breakfast!
This is not photoshopped, there is a Kix dangling from the very end of one of my hairs! Matt quickly ran and got the camera so we could document this scientific phenomena!Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself! Hope you get a good chuckle out of it, too!! :)

Halloweentime

I'd like to make an accusation...

Miss Scarlett...

With the candlestick...

In the conservatory...

WRONG!

It was Colonel Mustard with the rope in the lounge!

Happy Halloween!

Pamela's Wedding

A few weeks ago, my good friend, Pam got married! It was a beautiful wedding and it was wonderful to visit with friends! The gorgeous table settings:

Matt next to his place tag...I've never been to a wedding with a seating arrangement before...I feel so sophisticated! I probably should have picked up my glass with my pinky extended :)

The dinner was scruptious...and yes, we drank all of the sodas you see in the corner of the picture...it was a wild night!
Pam's wedding cake made out of cupcakes...it was absolutely amazing!

Here I am with the blushing bride! She looked incredible!!

And with Pam's maid-of-honor, best friend, and sister, Kim. She looked gorgeous also!
It was a lovely evening of love, dinner, friends, fun, and dancing!

Good old American Fun!

A few weeks ago our dream of BBQ ownership came true...we waited just long enough to find the one we wanted reduced in price at one of our favorite exclusive, member-only shopping facilities!

I thought this BBQ would turn Matt into Bobby Flay, the king of the grill, but I think it turned him into a ninja...So we christened our grill with the most scrumptious burgers our tastebuds have ever encountered!

And sweet little Nicholas watched and took notes of the grilling process...we're training him to cook, so one day he can be our little chef, too!

When we brought the BBQ home from the store, we took it straight to the backyard while Nicholas was inside. When he came out and saw it, he walked to the other side of the yard, staring at it, and then barked like crazy at it! I'm glad he is keeping us safe from the invasion of the BBQ grills!

After our amazing BBQ meal, we headed to play softball at the church...and like every good softball player, we needed uniforms. Behold the glory (by the way, the uniforms come complete with matching shorts and knee-high socks!) before the game...you can't see, but we've got our game faces on!

The Red Baron is our team's pitcher (we call him Randy Johnson because he's so good!) Here we are after our team's victory! I stayed nice and clean during the game, but Matt had to dive over the catcher and slide home in an awesome play to help us to maintain our team's lead!

Our buddy Nicholas

We would like to formally introduce you to our good buddy, Nicholas. We made a brief post about him earlier, but here's his official introduction! He is our most recent foster puppy. Warning: this is a long post (I couldn't choose just a few pictures of him...he's just too cute!).
He was a stray puppy and was a little crazy when we got him, but with some love and training he is turning into quite the little gentleman!
This is one of our favorite faces that he makes, when his jowels get caught in his teeth...it's silly!
He has become very comfortable with our family.
And he would be sad if we didn't introduce you to his best friend, Bestie (he carries Bestie around in his mouth most of the day)

This is where Nicholas spends a lot of his day...not ON his bed, just near his bed in the doorway of the office and the hall. He lays on the floor and watches me work.

You already know he loves water. He doesn't swim well, but he loves to sit on the first step of our pool and hang out with us while we swim!

He loves to play with Matt!

He also likes to find towels in the house and make himself a bed in the kitchen.

Many of you know that we have been working on growing a garden in this nearly-barren desert that we live in. We didn't realize that Nicholas would take such a fancy to the harvest! (there are 4 pictures of it because it's so funny to me!)

I think watermelon is his favorite treat!

We are becoming those people that look like their pets!

He is such a good companion!

He likes to cuddle on the couch with his mama...

...and his papa

And occasionally he finds his way onto the couch by himself.

And when I tell him he's not supposed to be on the couch, he gives me this face..

And then I forget what I was telling him not to do...

The Power of the Sun!

A few Sundays ago we got a new food storage toy, so we thought we'd sacrifice some brownie mix and try it out. Don't I look hopeful?

Our new toy is called a sun oven. It's basically a big black box with huge mirrors that use light and heat reflection to cook food. Now, I know what you're thinking. . . since we're in Phoenix in the middle of the summer, why don't we just put the brownies in the back of our car and park it outside? I'm still trying to come up with a good answer for that, but in the meantime, back off. Here's the oven in all its splendor as I put the brownies inside.

That white circle in the corner of the oven is a thermometer. Right there, it's probably about 250 degrees, but we got that puppy up to 325!

And here are the end results! As you can see, the brownies are a little slanted. Oops, I didn't get the swing on the inside of the oven working right. The brownies were awesome though.

So now that we know it works, here's my new kitchen. Bright, isn't it?
The cool thing about the sun oven is that the only hot parts are the glass on the top and the inside compartment. The mirrors aren't hot at all! Oh, and the even COOLER thing is that it's near impossible to burn anything you put in there. Since the oven traps all of the moisture and there is no air circulating inside, I could leave this cake in for an extra hour and it wouldn't burn! Kind of like a crockpot, but COOLER!

The end product. Just like a real oven!

Nicholas

Our newest foster pup is a bit older than the previous we've had. He's 9 months old and is twice the size of our last two!

As you can see, he is one handsome dog!! One of the first things we've noticed about him is his love for running water. He loves to play in the water hose! Watch:

He is a fun buddy!!

Good Things

Sometimes in life there are little gems that appear along our way. This morning when I was walking with the man of my dreams (my Matty), we saw this:
A rainbow but no rain...a natural phenomenon? I think of it as a little blessing of beauty!

Rudy

Last Friday we said so long to our good buddy Rudy. He was adopted by a lady who saw him when I took him to work. She has an 8-year-old male boxer who needed a friend. The Rude-ster has a great personality and is going to be so happy in his new home. When we first got him, he was just 15 pounds and didn't have the normal boxer energy.

Here he is with his brother shortly after we picked him up from the vet . . .

He quickly took a liking to grass for some reason . . .

But he really loves playing around the pool. Here he is pawing at me . . .

Then when he finally gets the courage, he climbs aboard for a little sea cruise/lickfest.

More lickfest. Don't get your face to close to him . . .

He's a sucker for stuffed squeaker toys. He adored his lion. I think he knew where it was at all times. This is him asking to play a little tug of war . . .

We taught him how to sit . . .

Then we taught him how to lay down . . .

But he taught himself to crinkle up his forehead into a million wrinkles . . .

Then after he laid down, we taught him to stay. He's so obedient! . . .

Brittany taught him how to pose for the camera . . .

And how to melt your heart . . .

And then at the very end of having him, I taught him how to be lazy and watch TV. . .

The best part is that since his new owner works at PetSmart, I'll be able to see him again! But in the meantime, we'll miss you, Rudebega! Be a good boy and don't eat your new mama's lawn.
