Two Years of Awesomeness

Wow. Munch is TWO! What?? It's hard to believe that she has been in our lives for two years and at the same time it's hard to believe that she has ONLY been our lives for two years.

EmeryTwo(6 of 11)Blg

Emery, your dad and I love you more than you can imagine. Every night when we're getting ready for bed we talk about the awesome, mischievous, silly and hilarious things you did that day. It always includes laughter... even on bad days like when you poop and pee in your bed. Grrr.

And now, here are more things than you ever wanted to know about any two-year-old:

Weight: 28 lbs

Height: 35.5 inches... That means she is going to be 5 feet 11 inches when fully grown! (Supposedly.)

Favorite foods: fruit, veggies, cheese, cheeseburgers and pickles. And of course CANDY!

EmeryTwo(10 of 11)blg

Movies: Up and The Lion King (Simba as she calls it.) For a long time it was 101 Dalmations which I now have memorized. Did you know they use the word "idiot" a TON in that movie? Luckily she has moved onto a phase where she will not watch the same movie twice in a row. She MUST be holding "Emmy's mote," when watching her movies.

74% potty trained and getting better all the time... I think.

Talks a RIDICULOUS amount.

Knows all of her colors, several shapes (Especially hearts, stars and circles and calls pentagons houses), some of her ABC's and some numbers and knows opposites.

Recognizes the letter Eeeee! and her name.

Thinks she is a mom to pretty much everyone, and is a bossy bones. In example: She puts me to bed with stuffed animals and a binky for fun. Tries to put panties on the dog and wipe her bum when she comes inside.

Likes to do somersaults and dance with her "hands in da air." Loves jumping and 'pinning... she really enjoys being DIZZY.

Thinks every one is a girl and loves all things girly -- nail polish, mousse, hairspray, shoes, perfume, makeup, and "boo boo" holders (yeah bras. weird.)

Loves "ammals" and knows an absurd number including odd ones like buckos (geckos), op-o-pus (octopus), orangutans, and crabs. Favorite animals are dogs. Favorite dog is Zoe. Thinks all bugs buzz. Howls in perfect pitch with the wolf on the Zoo Shaker app.

EmeryTwo(5 of 11)Blg

Believes Elmo is the best thing EVER. Sings along with Will.I.Am's Sesame Street song and mimics his dancing. Will NOT go to bed without her Elmo doll. Is convinced there is an Elmo living in my camera lens.

Sings Twinkle Star and Happy To Me (Happy Birthday) to herself regularly.

Tells me and David that we are awesome and/or cool at least once a day. Tells us that Emmy is cool and/or awesome at least twice as often.

Likes and wants all things belonging to Mommy including, but not limited to, my pillow, soda, spot in bed, food, brush and seat in the car.

Jumps in her bed EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. Thinks it is hilarious EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. Regularly takes her diaper and clothes off after nap time without me knowing and, you guessed it, jumps in her bed... naked.

Insists that I diaper her while she is standing.

Enjoys getting her teeth brushed.

Loves to say prayers.

Tries to get out of things with these excuses "I don't like it." "Too hot." "Too cold." "I have to poop." (Including her photos.)

EmeryTwo(11 of 11)Blg

Fake sleeps and thinks it is hilarious. Is an excellent hider and thinks it is hilarious.

Random loves: gum, bubbles, swings and slides, books, pockets, straws, opening the garage door, hats and step stools.

Bad habits: licking stuff, biting her nails and hitting when angry.

Tells me my hair is cute. Tells me she is cute.

EmeryTwo(8 of 11)Blg

Loves her friends Addy, Rocko and Kohl.

Loves the moon and possibly thinks it is also her friend... she talks to it.

HATES riding in the cart at the grocery store and when sun gets in her eyes.

Asks me "Mom, are you okay?" When I respond "Yes. Are you okay?" She says "No. I'm fine."

Constantly asks "What's that?" even when she knows the answer. Responds with "Ohhhhh," when you answer, even if she has no idea what you're talking about.

Says please, thank you and your welcome... makes sure we say it too.

Is an OCD organizer. She even organized her Halloween candy before eating any of it.

Insists that all jackets and sweaters be completely tied, zipped, or buttoned to the top.

Has had one hair cut for mullet removal purposes. It revived her cute curls.

All in all she is the absolute light of our life. Happy Birthday Em! Here's to being TWO! And here's to hoping we can convince her that she isn't one anymore without her banchee screaming at us "Emmy's ONE!!!!" :)

So you might have heard

You might have heard that I went blind for a while and stuff. True story. Actually I still am basically blind in my right eye, but I'm at least functioning now. (At some point I might explain that whole catastrophe.) Now that life is getting back to normal, I'm spending extra time enjoying the normalcy and just being thankful. Especially for this little tyke who I missed a whole ton when I couldn't take care of her... or even see her.

TrunkorTreat-2011-1

She is ridiculously awesome, as she often reminds me. She even changed the lyrics of one of her favorite Elmo songs today. Normal lyrics: "I'll keep getting stronger." Em's new lyrics: "I'll keep getting awesome." Yeah ya will kid. I can't believe that in a couple of short weeks she'll be two. Time flies when your being blind... or when you're drugged a LOT. Now who's changing lyrics? :)

We make our own milestones around here.

I get e-mails from Baby Center all the time. They often talk about what important milestones to look for in your kiddo's life. Well, they didn't list this one:

Wanna taste? She is a super sharer when it comes to food.

And now her "OCD" kicks in. She hates having her hands messy when she is eating. She will stop eating and pick even a single grain of rice off of her hand if she notices it. Literally, I've seen her do it. Same thing if she spills on the table or floor and notices. "Momma! Ipe, ipe!" she starts hollering. (Translated: "Wipe, wipe!") She'd probably freak if she could see her face.

A Timeout From the Madness

As I mentioned in my last post, David works hard ALL the time. Pretty much every weekend is packed. During the week we both keep busy and when he IS home Em has been all his so that I can work. (I've been doing quite a bit of freelance.)

This weekend we had a narrow window of opportunity between events to get some family time in so, after some much needed shopping, we took the Munch downtown to try out the brand new carousel. Her first ride ever. She really loved it, but she was pretty tuckered out so she looks pretty serious in all these.

Note to self: when staring through a camera lens, always be aware of your surroundings. I actually fell right off of the carousel taking that last picture. When it was my turn for a ride with her I took the camera so I could get some closeups before the ride started. Well I went around to the side and just kept backing up. Next thing I know I'm falling off of the carousel and basically taking out the fence around it. HILARIOUS... and unfortunately for me, embarrassing. Got the shot though! Good times.

Also, do you like her top?

Carousel-4BC

Yeah, I made that. :) Pretty proud of myself for taking on such a terrifying looking sewing project. Amazingly enough it turned out pretty cute... as long as you aren't inspecting for junk like straight seams. You can make one too. I followed this tutorial. Wouldn't it make a cute dress? That's my next project.

Workin' Hard for the Money

David worked hard all through chiropractic school, but it's nothing compared to how hard he has been working since he got done. Every day, many nights and every weekend he is busy doing what he can to market, meet people and get involved in the community. Not to say he hasn't had fun doing some of it... especially when it meant mandatory attendance on the sidelines of football games. Yeah, real tough. He was the team chiropractor/trainer for the Dixie Rebels, the minor league football team in STG. Though he is known by them simply as "Doc."

What? You can't see him in this picture? Even though he placed himself so prominently behind, oh I don't know, EVERYONE! If you look hard on the left side you can see him behind the last guy. By him I mean his leg and side of his face. Dork. Don't know why he didn't just step all the way around to the end.

ANYWAY...

Their season wrapped up on Saturday night with an undefeated season and a repeat championship. (If you really want you can read more about the details here.)

David saw some gnarly injuries, made a lot of friends and loved every minute of it. We can't go anywhere in STG without hearing "Doc! How's it going?" or something of the sorts. In his own words "Hey if I got nothing else out of it, at least I have a ton of Polynesian friends now." Okay D... whatever that means!

I'm just glad that with all the butt busting he's been doing, at least some of it has been fun. Em and I appreciate all the hard work you do babe. Keep it up!

Sidewalk Chalk

On any given day you can look at my dining room floor and see little dusty footprints scattered across the tile. Here is the culprit:

ChalkTime-4 BC

Sidewalk chalk. One of Em's favorite pastimes.

ChalkTime-5 BC

She does a lot of dump the chalk, gather the chalk and repeat, with a tiny bit of scribbling thrown in.

ChalkTime-3 BC

ChalkTime-1 BC

She also likes to hoard the chalk. Let's face it, she likes to hoard anything she can hoard. Hoarder. (Please be sure to emphasize the d in that thanks.)

ChalkTime-7 BC

Along with chalk feet, she usually also ends up with a severe case of chalk bum.

ChalkTime-6 BC

ChalkTime-2 BC

"Hey mom! Are you in there? Come draw me somethin' already."

How We Pray

Bischoff Fam 2011-1
At all of 19 months old, Munch thinks she can talk as well as an adult. Tonight at dinner she was adamant that she say the prayer. Why discourage her right? So it went something like this:

V: Say 'Heavenly Father.'
E: Farer

V: Thank you
E: Tank choo

V: For the food.
E: Foo.

V: Please
E: Peas

V: Bless it.
E: Bess

V: In the name
E: EMMY!

And that is the point at which D and I lost it to laughter.

She is pretty great this kiddo of ours.
